1 20/20 Vision Lessons from the past, ideas for the future VICWATER 2015 ANNUAL CONFERENCE Thurs 10 - Fri 11 Sep 2015 The Langham Melbourne One Southgate Avenue, Southbank

2 Welcome On behalf of the Victorian Water Industry Association and its Board of Management, it is our pleasure to invite you to the 2015 VicWater Annual Conference and to share the program we have planned for the event. This Conference is regarded throughout the sector as the Victorian water industry s preeminent event; consistently attracting delegates from the most senior levels of the nineteen Victorian water corporations, together with leaders from Victorian Government departments, regulators and other state and national key water industry stakeholders. 20/20 Vision; Lessons from the past, ideas for the future is the theme for this year s Conference. With this theme we aim to learn from and recognise the sector s history over the past 20 years, this also recognises the role that VicWater has had in that history is the 20th anniversary of the Victorian Water Industry Association (VicWater). In building a future that respects and takes lessons from the past it is important to consider the full spectrum of our responsibilities; to meet our shareholders expectations, to continuously improve and deliver innovative products and services to our customers, to provide fulfilling roles that develop our people and to positively contribute to the social fabric of our communities through improved liveability. The celebratory element of this year s Conference will take place at the main dinner on Thursday night where we have organised an MC who will approach a number of long standing water industry professionals, both past and present, who will share their insights on the sector s growth and VicWater s part in that growth. The sector is likely to see significant changes in the membership of the Victorian water corporation boards this year and through this Conference, and the government s Director Training, VicWater will support the government and our members to ensure our directors have strong collaborative networks and access to contemporary industry thinking. As you will see, the program is packed full of distinguished presenters that are sure to challenge your thinking, give light to a different perspective or possibly even spark new ideas that can be incorporated into your business. We have also included a facilitated psychometric session this year which will introduce you to the field of study that seeks to better match a candidate to a role. This is done through testing or measuring individual mental capabilities and behaviour styles. VicWater believes that the 2015 VicWater Conference program will inspire you to consider the future possibilities for your organisation. As well as providing one of the few genuine opportunities for those in the senior leadership of the Victorian water industry to meet, network and strengthen relationships. This aspect of the event has been found time and again to deliver stronger outcomes for the broader industry. The program has been developed with directors and senior executives in mind and we look forward to welcoming you to The Langham in Melbourne for what we believe will be another outstanding Conference. We face the future fortified with the lessons we have learned from the past. It is today that we must create the world of the future. Spinoza, I think, pointed out that we ourselves can make experience valuable when, by imagination and reason, we turn it into foresight. Eleanor Roosevelt Doug Shirrefs Chair Tony Wright Chief Executive Officer
