I would also like to welcome the 2014 board of directors and new members. On behalf of the society s board of directors, it gives me great pleasure to invite you to attend our monthly meetings and participate in our activities. In the quest to taking the society to even greater heights in an increasingly challenging and competitive environment in 2014, focus will be given to areas aside from holding monthly meetings. These areas include; Arranging the 3rd International Laboratory Technology Conference and Exhibition (LabTech2014), which will be held on Oct , 2014, in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The theme of this conference is Toward Excellence in Laboratory Management. Enhancing our interactions with the local community by engaging schools and universities in our activities. The Saudi Arabian International Chemical Sciences Chapter of the American Chemical Society (SAICSC-ACS) held its 2013 monthly technical dinner meeting on September 29, 2013 in Le Meridian Hotel, Al-Khobar. Prof. Jean-Marie Basset delivered an excellent lecture on A new approch for Hetrogeneous catalysis Prof. Jean-Marie Basset served as scientific director of the school of chemistry, physics and electronics at the University of Lyon in France. He is presently the Director of the KAUST Catalysis Center (KCC) in Saudi Arabia. He is a member of the French Academy of Technologies and of the European Academy of Sciences. He has been the research Director at the CNRS Laboratory for Chemistry, catalysis, polymer and Process; and the head of the surface organometallic Chemistry Team. He has been the scientific Director of CPE-Lyon, the President of IDECAT (European Network of Excellence), which includes 40 European laboratories and 20 companies, and is the only European Network of Excellence in Catalysis. Prof. Jean-Marie Basset talk was focused on the surface organometallic chemistry, which leads to a predictive and conceptual approach to heterogeneous catalysis.
