The walk starts at Hempnall Village Hall Map ref Start time 10 am Please park close together as there are other functions at the Hall that day The bridge is at Topcroft and was found by Sheila on her last walk for the Norfolk magazine, to be broken down and in need of replacement. These walks belong to the various Breckland health walk schemes, who currently have nowhere to publish their walks! We are keen to welcome walkers from these groups into the Ramblers and look forward to working with the new groups to increase the range of walks that Ramblers has to offer. These walks have not yet been added to the calendar, but should be next time. Richard May New area committee Following the AGM on Saturday 27 February a new area committee has been elected (details on the blog or from any area officer). The new area chairman is Richard May who is also currently a national trustee. Richard paid tribute to the work of Bernard Moore, the retiring chairman, and said: Bernard has been area chair in Norfolk for as long as I have been a member of Ramblers, and I would like to thank him personally for all the work that he has put in for the Ramblers in Norfolk. He has done a great job on behalf of Norfolk for many years, and he will be a hard act to follow. Richard added: I look forward to working with the area council members and the wider membership in Norfolk to continue to keep Ramblers an organisation relevant to the 21st century walker, and hopefully to turn the corner on membership levels and start to grow our membership again. 5 BRECLAND SHORT BRIS WALS Our walks in Breckland are short but brisk. We encourage walkers to walk at their own pace with a front and back marker. We do not stop during the walk, but there is usually a welcome stop for coffee or tea at the end of the walk. There is no need to book just ensure you have your membership card with you and arrive in good time to hear the pre-walk introduction. You are welcome to come for a taster walk first to see you like it! A good pair of walking shoes and adequate outdoor clothing is all that is needed as on occasions it can be wet and muddy. For further information please contact eith or Linda Thomas on or , or by at oldcoachhouse7@sky.com. Walkers can just turn up for the walk, no need to phone the leader. The way that we work reflect that way that our mostly younger members work. We tend not to plan our walks far in advance and in many cases plan them in the week or two before the actual event. All of this planning takes place online, using the forum on our website. This means that we cannot publish anything like a full programme in this booklet. However, we do run a full programme of walks with at least one walk almost every weekend and a comprehensive social programme too. All members of Ramblers are welcome to join us at any event! We have a long weekend in the Brecon Beacons from 24 to 27 June please see the forum for anyone who might be interested in going! In order to find out what we are doing on any given date you will need to look at the forum, or if you are unable to do this, you can ring Richard on The forum address is: Date 10th April 16th April 23rd April 24th April 1st May 7th May 15th May 22nd May 29th May 5th June 12th June 18th June 3rd July 10th July 23rd-24th July 31st July Details Julian : Joint Event (Sheila Smith Memorial Walk) Emma: North Norfolk Coast Part 1 - Holme next the Sea to Burnham Deepdale, 9.5 miles Ian : Dunwich approx. 10/12 miles Stephanie: Binham James : Long Stratton/Tas Valley 10 miles Emma : North Norfolk Coast Part 2 - Burnham Deepdale to Wells next the Sea, 10.5miles Stephanie: Gressenhall Julian: Weybourne Walk Julian: Joint Event TBC Clive: TBA Ian: TBA Emma: North Norfolk Coast Part 3 - Wells next the Sea to Cley next the Sea, 10.1 miles James: TBA Stephanie: Horsey mill Julian: A *very* brave night hike from Sat into Sun (guaranteed no snakes) Clive: TBA 31
