Front St. I observed a copper colored vehicle following a dump truck. The vehicle was approximately one car-length away from the dump truck. I activated my overhead lights and both the copper car and the dump truck pulled over. I approached the copper colored Dodge Avenger (OH-FHH4915) and identified the driver as 17 year old Jacob Jakubowski. I advised him of the reason for the stop and he only said "seriously?". I then advised him he was also driving during restricted hours for a 17 year old and he stated he did not know about the restriction. I issued Jakubowski a citation for Following too Close MM; and Juvenile Driving Restrictions (B)(1)(b) MM. He was given a mandatory court date at Wood County Juvenile Court on 8/8/12 at 1645 hours. 6 While traveling northbound on IR-475 just south of SR-25 I observed a vehicle enter the off ramp to SR-25 to the right using its left turn signal. I continued to follow the vehicle as it turned left onto southbound SR-25 into the left hand lane. As we approached the traffic signal at the south side of the bridge over IR -475 the maroon Buick (OH-EQE3578) abruptly changed lanes into the left turn lane and then turned left onto the on-ramp to southbound IR-475 without using its turn signal for either the lane change or the left turn. I stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Robert Dailey. Dailey advised me that he did not have a valid driver's license. He was found to be under both a Non-Compliance suspension and a Child-Support suspension. I issued Dailey a citation for the Non-Compliance Suspension (A) UM; and for Failing to signal a turn MM. He was given a mandatory court date of 7/17/12 at 1645 hours. Dailey's friend John Simon picked up the vehicle and drove them from the scene. 9 Woodhead was following behind Smith in the right turn lane from US Rt 20 eastbound onto the I-75 southbound entrance ramp. Woodhead stated Smith slammed on his brakes causing him to strike Smith from behind. Woodhead was charged with Willful and Wanton Disregard for Safety ( A) for his actions while following Smith. Smith realized that he did not want to turn onto IR 75 N and started to back into the left lane of US 20. Smith struck the front of Woodhead's vehicle as he backed up. Smith fled when Woodhead called police because he had consumed a couple beers prior to driving. Smith and Woodhead were located by PTPD and stopped on IR 75 S. I administerd the FST's to Smith and observed no indicators of intoxication. I issued Smith a citation for improper backing (ORC (MM)) leaving the scene of an accident (ORC (M1)) and willful wanton disregard for safety (ORC (A) (MM)). I stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver Judith Stewart and advised her of the speed. Stewart apologized and stated she was not familiar with the area. I issued Stewart a citation for Speed - Over Limits 45/25 ( b2).Radar # EG01253 was checked at 1638 hrs and again at 1742 hrs. It was found to be working properly. 14 I was stationary and monitoring traffic on E. Boundary St. I observed a grey colored SUV that was traveling north on E. Boundary St at a speed which appeared much higher than the posted Speed Limit of 25 mph. I activated radar #EG01253 and obtained an initial reading of 53 mph. The vehicle's speed dropped to 52 mph and was locked in. I attempted to catch up to the vehicle after it turned eastbound on Avenue Rd. The vehicle did not immediately stop for my overhead lights and I was following behind it at a speed of 65 mph in a 50 mph zone. I activated my siren and the vehicle then pulled over. I spoke with the driver Vicky Cubberly and advised her of the speed violations. I issued Cubberly a citation for Speed - Over Limits 52/25 ( b2).Radar # EG01253 was checked at 1638 hrs and again at 1742 hrs. It was found to be working properly. I ran the vehicle's license plate registration and it came back to a maroon Ford truck. I stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Jason Sloat. He stated he bought the vehicle in March and had not switched the registration over. He provided me a copy of the title which indicated he purchased the vehicle on March Dispatch advised that Mr. Sloat had a license forfeiture suspended driver's license. Mr. Sloat did not realize his license was suspended. He was issued a citation for driving on a suspended license and ficticious plates. He was given a court date and time of 07/17/12 at 1700 hrs. Southboundary St. I observed an eastbound gray 2012 Ford Escape(OH-CKT6597) that appeared to traveling faster that the posted 25Mph. I activated my radar (E27047) in the moving mode. The readout showed a target speed of 40Mph with a corresponding audio tone. I activated my lights and stopped the vehicle. I informed Melissa Moynihan the operator of the vehicle the reason for the stop and asked if there was any reason for traveling so fast. She stated that she was on her way to swimming lessons. She added that she thought the speed limit was 35Mph. Moynihan was cited for B2 "Speed over posted limits" with a court date of July 17th The radar was checked and found functioning properly and to be in calibration before and after the stop.
