The left rear door on the horse trailer was not secured and was swinging into other lanes of travel. I could see tools bouncing in the open doorway. I activated my overhead lights and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle pulled over near the 193 MM. I approached the drivers side and advised the driver that one of his doors was not secure. He walked back with me and secured the door. He advised that it did not look like anything had fallen out. I asked to see his drivers license, but he advised that he could not find it. He provided his SSN and was identified as Scott Christner. A check of the SSN showed that Christner was under a national driver registry suspension and had a warrant for his arrest out of Defiance County (PUR 3). I asked Christner if he was aware that his license was suspended. He advised that he thought that was taken care off. I asked him about the warrant and again he stated that he thought it was taken care off. I asked him if his passenger could drive his truck. He advised that he could. The passenger, James Landess, was allowed to drive the truck and trailer away from the scene. Christner was cited for DUS and Unsecured Loads I transported Christner to WCJC without incident. I estimated the speed of the vehicle to be 85 mph. I activated laser unit # TS and it displayed a consistent reading of 85 mph. I stopped the vehicle and I spoke to Krystal Kristoff. She told me that she thought she was going about 80 mph and was going to work at the Walgreens Distribution Center. This was her second speed violation within 12 months. She was cited for speed and was given a court date for 05/07/13 at 1700 hrs. I had good tracking and there were no obstructions. The calibration was checked and it was functioning properly. I then initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and identified the driver as Brittany L. Wheaton. I asked Brittany if she knew why I had stopped her and she advised because she was not paying attention to her speed and was doing around 40mph. I initiated a traffic stop and advised the driver, Ms. Krueger, why I had stopped her. Ms. Krueger stated that she had slowed down at the caution light. Emmert, why I had stopped her. I asked Elizabeth if there was any reason she was driving so fast. Elizabeth advised she knew I had stopped her for speed but she did not realize she was traveling so fast. 13 While on patrol, I observed a white BMW 318i (OH-FOR1158) with an orange 2012 license plate expiration sticker. Upon running the license plate, it was found to have expired on 12/04/2012. I stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as the registered owner, John Lynch. Lynch stated he is new to Ohio and in Missouri the license plates are valid for two years at a time. I issued John Lynch a citation for expired registration, M4, and gave him a court date of 05/07/13 at 1700 hours. 26 While on routine patrol, I was parked in the alley between E. Indiana St. and W. Fifth St. facing east at E. Boundary Street. I observed a red Scion (OH-EEY5544) traveling north towards me on E. Boundary at what appeared to be above the posted 25 mph speed limit. I estimated the vehicles speed at approximately 40 mph. I used laser unit TS to perform a speed check and found the vehicle to be traveling at 44 mph. I initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and advised the driver, Kyle C. Adamcik, why I had stopped her. I asked Kyle if there was any reason she was driving so fast. Kyle advised she was in a hurry to get home for some plans she had in the evening. The driver went left of center on the first curve, and the driver side tires were approximately two feet over the double yellow center line. The vehicle returned to the lane and at the next curve near IR 75 the vehicle again crossed over the double yellow line by approximately one foot. At this time I initiated a traffic stop on that vehicle. I made contact with Salman Rahman. I recognized him from a prior drug arrest. I explained why I had stopped him and I detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage. I asked Mr. Rahman where he was coming from and he stated the Meijer store in Maumee. He admitted to having a few drinks earlier in the evening. He exited his vehicle and participated in some field sobriety tests. I stopped the tests and asked him to get back inside his vehicle. Mr. Rahman presented a PMC document that indicated he had limited driving privileges. The document indicates he may drive to and from work within varying hours, and while driving from his home to work (Biaggi's restaurant) he may stop along the way for groceries and fuel. I confirmed he was not on his way to work, and Mr. Rahman advised he was on his way to the gas station up on the corner. I told him he was clearly driving outside of the scope of his limited driving privileges. He was cited for marked lanes and DUS. 36 While traveling NB on Louisiana Ave, I observed a tan Chevy Impala (OH-CBJ4917) traveling directly in front of me. The vehicle turned from the straight lane without signaling and without utilizing the turn lane to turn left onto W. Second St. I activated my overhead lights and initiated a traffic stop, I identified the driver as Alicia Creer-Beavers. Beavers stated she was just trying to get to a hotel in Maumee. Dispatch advised Beavers was under several suspensions. I identified the passenger as Isie Blythe. Blythe was found to be valid. Beavers was issued a citation for Out of State DUS (ORC A,M1) and Turn Signals (ORC A1,MM). She was provided with a Mandatory court date of Tuesday, May 7th at 5 p.m. Beavers was advised to provide proof of insurance to the court. Blythe drove the vehicle from the scene.
