About the conference Target Audience Conference 2014 We are delighted to invite you to this exciting CPD accredited conference presented by a panel of leading national experts on Food Poverty. With 4 million people affected by food poverty in the UK, we would like to place a spotlight on food poverty in Britain today, and support delegates in gaining a deeper understanding of what food poverty is and the causes at an individual, societal and political level. It will also look at the emergence of food banks in Britain, reflecting on why they have come about and touch on the practicalities of how they work. Delegates will be given an insight into local initiatives that strive to impact upon food access, nutrition and poverty, allowing the opportunity to reflect on the current approaches and consider if enough is being done to tackle the growing issue of food poverty in Britain today. The aim of the conference is to bring together people working in public health, third sector, local authorities and other interested groups to critically examine the issue of food poverty in modern Britain and to openly debate the realistic options available for addressing this within the various and complex social, economic and political constraints. Plenary sessions will be interspersed with question and answer sessions and panel discussions. The meeting will provide a valuable opportunity to network, share knowledge and ideas, and consider collaborative projects. This must be received in writing one week prior to the conference. 10 The Company reserves the right to change the conference speakers in case of illness or other conditions beyond its control. 11 The Company does not accept responsibility for loss or damage to delegates own property and/or personal effects whilst at the conference. 5 Venue: Riverside Centre, University of Chester From the A5116/Liverpool Road Take the third exit at the Fountains Roundabout onto the A5268/St Martins Way (signposted North Wales, All through Traffic). Continue forward down St Martins Way, through several sets of traffic lights and onto Nicholas Street until reaching another major roundabout (the Grosvenor Road Roundabout). At the roundabout, take the third exit onto the A483 (signposted North Wales, Lache, Saltney). Turn left onto Castle Drive (this turning can be found immediately following a set of traffic lights with the Racecourse on your right). Once on Castle Drive you will see a long-stay pay and display car park on your right (the little Roodee Car Park costs 3.00 for up to 3 hours and 4.90 for 3 to 6 hours). Exiting the car park on foot and continuing along Castle Drive (with the river on your right), Riverside is 200 yards on your left. From the A56/Hoole Way At the roundabout at the end of the A56, take the third exit signposted North Wales, All through Traffic. At the next roundabout, take the second exit signposted North Wales, All through Traffic, and then follow the instructions from St Martins Way in the A5116 directions above. From the A51 Turn left into Grosvenor Park Road and follow the A5268 round in the direction of the A483/North Wales/ Wrexham. After approximately 1/2 mile on the A5268 (Vicar's Lane/Pepper Street/Grosvenor Street), at the Grosvenor Road Roundabout take the second exity onto the A483 (signposted North Wales, Lache, Saltney). take the first left onto Castle Drive, and then follow the instructions from Castle Drive in the A5116 directions above. From the A483 After crossing the bridge over the River Dee, take the first right onto Castle Drive, and then follow the instructions from Castle Drive in the A5116 directions above. By Rail Chester is well served by the railway network and has frequent, fast rail links to London and major cities in the UK. Journey times are: London 2hrs 10mins, Birmingham 1hr 45mins, Manchester 1hr. The University is twenty minutes' walk from Chester Railway Station, and a taxi will cost approximately 5. A bus service runs at regular intervals between the Railway Station and Chester City Centre. Our Campus is only ten minutes' walk from the city centre By Coach Chester has regular National Express Coach services from most towns and cities in the UK to the Delamere Street Bus Depot.
