Sandy had a special treat for us Friday for dinner. She made here world famous hamburg ers and all the fixings. Thank you Sandy! At night we had a camp fire and of course we roasted marshmallows and just hung out talking and having a great me. Last month we had a camping trip that took us to Bishop in the Sierra s. Craig, our Sargent at Arms and his lovely other half Sandy planed this beau ful trip for us. We had 2 groups that rode up. One was on Thursday and another on Friday. The next day Craig took us north to Bodie. A li le mining town back in the Western days. What a cool place. Then we went up to Rock Creek Lake up by Tom s Place. From Ron Bays, Head Ride Leader, a big thank you to all the ride leaders and for anyone who is interested there are Ride Leader posi ons open. We spoke about finding a new mee ng place for the group since Coco s has been sold and won t be renewing their lease. If anyone has any ideas of a new loca on let Rick or Jodi know. T shirts and pins for our Group will be available soon! If you pester Rick and Jodi it may be sooner! And just for curtesy sake please remember that outside patches should not be worn on Group rides. Craig s ride to the Sierra s was a suc cess! Bonfires, BBQ and a far ng con test! Who won? I m not sure but it sounds like everyone had a great me. Till the next one Craig! That s it for now! See ya ll on the next Newsle er!! Cyndi 20, cool ride and very scenic. Craig was going to take us on the Mammoth Lakes loop, but when we looked in that direc on it looked like it was rain ing. So we just rode back to the camp sight and decided to do that ride the next day. What a great trip. Everyone decided to make this a yearly event, so put this overnighter on your calendar for next year. Thank you Craig & Sandy.

2 PAGE 2 Rick & Jodi Founders Founders Corner We are going to start a new tradition for our family here at IRUSA. Everyone knows about when you buy a new or used bike someone has to give you a bell to keep the Gremlins from getting on your bike and making your bike have problems. A few months ago we found out that Mike Ackerman never received a bell for his bike, so we IRUSA purchased a bell for Mike. We have 2 more bells to give out for members who just bought bikes. Who are they? You will find out when we give them their new bell today. The Legend Of The Gremlin Bell The legend claims that a small bell attached to your motorcycle, close to the ground, catches the evil Road Spirits. The Little Gremlins live on your motorcycle causing all kinds of mechanical problems. The cavity of the bell attracts these Evil Spirits, but the constant ringing drives them insane and they lose their grip and fall to the ground. The legend also says that if you give the gremlin bell as a gift to a rider you double the protection. Jeff George Mark Mel Welcome to the Club Dave Safety Dave's Safety Tip Let s Talk About Parking Your Bike Teresa When looking for a parking spot, just remember where you pull your bike into you also have to be able to get it out of. So if you see a parking spot that is sloped downhill don t pull in front wheel first. An 850 pound Harley is hard to push backwards. It s always be er to back into a parking spot unless that parking spot is sloped uphill, then you can go ahead and pull in front wheel first. Always leave your bike in first gear parked this will prevent it from rolling. When you pull or back your bike into a parking spot just remember that cars and trucks also use these spots and there may be oil or coolant on the ground so watch your foo ng, one slip and over you and the bike goes. 3 Winner s Circle Jodi s PAGE 3 Trivia and Fun Facts Who bought his first Harley in 1956 and posed for the cover of the 1956 May issue of Craig Chris Rick The Enthusiast sitting on a 1956 model KH? Craig won the $25 Chevron gas card again. I lost count on how many times he s won. Good going Craig! Chris was the lucky winner for the 50/50 opportunity drawing. Looks like a lot of cash! Rick s opportunity cket won him a free dinner at a restaurant that was donated to us. The first Harley-Davidson parts and accessories catalog came out in 1910 Answer: Elvis Presley Today s Ride Today s ride is taking us to Woody s BBQ in Golita just north of Santa Barbara. We will be taking the same route as when we rode to Jalama Beach. Beautiful back roads and riding along side the beaches of Santa Barbara. Going up the coast a ways and turning onto Cliff Rd to beautiful neighborhoods, golf courses, lakes and a little scenic part going through some tree lined roads. Then when reaching Golita it s pretty much city streets until we hit woody s BBQ. Which isn't to far from the restaurant. Jodi and I on one Monday decided to ride to the coast and discovered this route. We just wanted to stay near the coast as close as possible and had some fun doing it. You can really discover a lot just cruising around on your day off. This ride shouldn t take to long so Maybe if people would like to keep riding, I know a great route to Buellton taking a really cool back road called Santa Rosa all the way up to Buellton and then down the 154 to the 101. Now Let s ride! Whales Tail Last Month s Rides Spruzzo s Our first ride of the month was Craig s camping trip to the Sierra s which you can read all about it on page 1, under Front Page News. This ride and camping trip was like no other. The camp grounds had a store that sold everything including ice cream. The weather was gorgeous and the rides we took were beautiful. I can t say enough about this trip and the people that came. I must tell you, I am so happy we started this club. We have met the best people ever and that s why we love all of you. Your family to Jodi and I and that s what its all about, spending time and bonding with friends. Our second ride took us to the Whales Tail in the Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard. Another beautiful day and a great ride. We rode down Topanga Canyon to Stunt road and stopped at the top of the mountain and looked at the breath taking views. One side had all the valley and mountain views, and the other side of the street had the ocean and the Malibu mountains. All you heard up there were the camera s taking pictures, click, click, click! As we continued on we turned on this one way canyon road all the way down to PCH. We were all alone going down the canyon with countless spectacular views. Our third ride also took us to the Malibu Mountains and by the ocean to Spruzzo s Italian Restaurant. This time for the first half of our ride we took the same route as we did when we went to the Whales Tail in Oxnard. The second half of the ride went to three different canyons in the Malibu Mountains. This was a bad ass ride. This ride was about two and a half hours long. Short for some of us but just enough for others. This ride let out at Los Virgines Road and we took it all the way down to PCH and headed north to our destination. We had lunch out on the patio in the ocean air. I would have said breeze but there wasn t any!
