This year is ARIZONA BIKE WEEK. Details are s ll in the works but we ll have them ready to share soon. Yosemite / Mammoth Trip is right around the corner!! June 2nd - 4th. Sco has a great weekend planned and this trip is one not to miss. With all the rain we ve been having the waterfalls will be incredible! Mike Ackman will be busy snapping pictures of this trip! Annual membership Pins going to Ron, (Bea), Dwight, Mike A, Mike S and our beau ful treasurer Pam! Hopefully this weekend, but plan on April 6-10 to be riding in some of the most beau ful Arizona landscape. Informa on to come soon! Secretary s Report By Cheryl From the desk of the Secretary Vegas bike week was brought up and if there were any sugges ons about a trip to San Simeon. Dave s safety talk was about wet streets and pot holes a er the rains and to watch for them and be extra careful. He talked about how to raise the front end of the bike and roll off the thro le in order to go over it. Also while riding in the Canyons be extra vigilant for rocks and to be careful riding near cars in the rain and watch for riders in front of you. We had 22 members in a endance and one guest. There were a lot of renewals for the beginning of the year. There was always a reminder about having valid and updated emergency contacts. Rick talked briefly about our upcoming Yosemite trip. Rick also reminded the ride leaders of the ride leader mee ng on February John Greico talked about the ride a er 4th so that the ride calendar could be the mee ng and that he would be filled up for the year. Rick talked winging it due to the recent rains. about the January and February rides. Keep riding safe IRUSA A discussion about possibly going to This is most definitely the best riding club around!!
2 PAGE 2 Rick & Jodi - Founders Founders Corner By Rick & Jodi I would like to talk about our day rides and over night rides a li le bit. We have a great group of people that you won t find anywhere in riding groups. This is why our rides are so much fun to go on. Our over-night rides are the best! Our routes and des na ons are fun and some- mes challenging. Once at our des na on we all check in to our rooms and relax for a while before ge ng together for some fun si ng around having some refreshments before ge ng together for dinner. That s where the fun never ends! Check out our ride schedule for all the fun overnighters coming up this year. You won t regret it unless you don t go. We put a lot of me choosing our day rides. All the Ride Leaders get together and pick and schedule rides during the year that we feel will be fun rides and great restaurants. If for any reason you come up with a ride that you want to see us going on, please by all means let us know so we can put it on the ride schedule. We love to have new ideas and places to ride to. It s all about having fun with the people we love to hang with. See you on the road and be safe! Let s Wish Our Members a Happy Birthday! Birthdays IRUSA Jo Barbara Debora Teresa Dave - Safety Officer Dave's Safety Tip By Dave INDEPENDENT NEWS Helmets When you buy a helmet, make sure it fits properly. Try it on, it should be comfortable to wear, neither to ght nor to loose. Remember, it is going to spend a lot of me on your head. Always fasten the helmet strap. If the helmet is not secured, it is doing about as much good as if it were on the shelf at home. Buy a helmet with a D.O.T s cker. Don t buy a helmet without one, it will not meet standards. A good helmet makes motorcycling a lot more pleasurable because it cuts down the wind noise and greatly reduces rider fa gue. Now days helmets are made of light new materials with terrific designs and colors to choose from. If you do drop your helmet on a hard surface, or it receives a heavy blow, it is me to buy a new one. A motorcycle helmet is designed to absorb the impact of a blow, and a helmet should do that once. If in doubt, get a new one. Keep the shiny side up and ride safe
3 Winners Circle Jodi s PAGE 3 Trivia & Fun Facts Did you know: Harley Davidson added 40 new dealerships across the world in 2016 Dave Rick 2 Joe Dave Van Bibber was the winner of this months gas card! $25 gas card just for showing up! Congrats! Must have been R2 s lucky day. He le the mee ng a big winner of the 50/50 drawing! Everyone loves the lunch drawing! Joe won enough to pay for his lunch and s ll le with money in his pocket! How many more dealerships does Harley Davidson intend to open worldwide by 2020? a) 80 B) 100 C) 200 Answer: c) 200 Ventura Harbor By Rick The Ventura Harbor is always a fun spot to go to. The Harbor is going through some renova ons right now but all the shops and restaurants are open during construc on. Sco was going to lead this ride and had an awesome route that he planned but unfortunately the weather will not be coopera ng with us today. It will be raining this weekend to a record level of over 5 inches!! So this ride will be rescheduled for a later date. So try to keep dry and keep yourselves warm with a cup of hot chocolate! (or red wine) Lucky Fool s Pub Last Month s Rides Vincent Hill Station Our first ride was going to the Hideaway in Sylmar but we ran into some problems with the canyon roads due to the rain and one of the bikes broke down on our way there. It took a li le me but we got it running again and on his way home. With all the delays we decided to go to Ra lers BBQ in Santa Clarita for a delicious lunch. All in all it ended up to be a nice day and a nice ride. Our second ride went to Bikersfield. Last year if you remember we didn t quite make it because a truck came around the canyon road to fast and took me out. Lol The year before we got rained out. Luckily this year the weather cooperated and everyone had a great ride and a great BBQ lunch at Freddy s BBQ. Our third ride was a er our General Mee ng led by John Grieco to a cool place in Moorpark called the Lucky s Fool Pub. Not only did John take us on a beau ful route but the des na on pick was incredible! Everyone loved the place. We will be going there again! Our fourth ride is one of our favorites on PCH in Malibu called Spruzzo s. We like to sit on the pa o in the fresh sea air over looking the ocean. This place never let s us down with all the great Italian food selec ons they have! My favorite is the seafood linguini. OMG, you should try it next me we go there. This month had some serious rainfall so most of the canyons were closed but we managed to go down Mulholland with most of the canyon being pre y good. Nice ride, nice day, great people accompanied with great food!
