3 TEXAS DARE OFFICERS ASSOCATION CONFERENCE July 31-August 2, 2018, San Antonio, Texas Residence Inn by Marriott San Antonio Six Flags at the Rim 5707 Rim Pass, San Antonio, TX Bexar County Fire Marshal, Bexar County Office of Emergency Management will be hosting this year s Training Conference inside the Courtyard Inn by Marriott San Antonio Six Flags The Rim. The conference will provide opportunities for attendees to gain enhanced knowledge, useful strategies, and practical skills that will have an immediate and positive impact within their schools and local communities. This year s training will provide a variety of topics that participants can take back to their agency and/or district. The conference will benefit: D.A.R.E. Instructors School Resource Officers School Based Law Enforcement Officers and Deputies School Based Law Enforcement Supervisors Juvenile and Youth Correction Officers Youth Organization Administrators and Leaders Police Department and Sheriffs Office Personnel G.R.E.A.T. Officers School District Personnel

4 Session topics will include: Child/Infant CPR/AED. Also included will be pet CPR Forensic Interview of a Child by ChildSafe San Antonio Signs of Child Traumatic Stress bu ChildSafe San Antonio Civilian Response to Active Shooter The I Love Your Guys Foundation University of Texas Tower Shooting by Ramiro Martinez (Texas Ranger-Retired) Tower Building for Safety by WeTip Emergency Tracking Network by the Texas Department of Public Safety K-9 Use in Schools by Full Armor K-9 Several Vendors have signed up to include: ifly Indoor Skydiving Big Dipper LLC WeTip Full Armor K-9 Officer and Educator of the Year nominations are due by July 15 th, Send TDOA Officer of the Year award nominations to Karla Barron kbarron@nederlandisd.org The award luncheon and TDOA business meeting will be on Thursday August 2 nd.

5 *Officers are also encouraged to wear their uniform for the opening ceremony on the morning of July 31th. Several tourist attractions are currently working up discount packages for TDOA conference participants. Facebook and blasts will be sent out as they come available. The hotel will be charging the government rate of $124 a night. Breakfast will be provided. There will be a charge of the San Antonio Hotel/Motel tax that cannot be waived. State Tax can be waived with a Tax Exempt form from your agency. Parking for the hotel is free Family and friends are encouraged to come and stay while at the conference. Numerous restaurants and tourist attractions are within eyesight of the hotel. The hotel will also include the following for those who stay there:

FREE Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday each evening, kick back, relax and enjoy a rotating menu of hot foods and cold beverages. Several notes about this year s conference: 1. The conference will be at the Courtyard Marriott which is next door to the Residence Inn by Marriott. The hotels are right next to each. 2. Right out the door of the conference room is a Starbucks! 3. The hotel is across the highway from Six Flags Fiesta Texas and the hotel has discount tickets. 4. The hotel is also next to The Rim shopping complex that includes Bass Pro Shop and the Santakos Palladium Theater which includes an IMAX to name just a few. 5. ifly Indoor Skydiving is a block away and will be making discount tickets available all week in our name. 6. The conference training schedule has not been finalized because of events unfolding in Austin. Conference updates will be sent out as they become available. 7. Bring your family and make it a vacation!!! We will be adding vendors and entertainment options all the way up to the conference!!! 8. For fun bring something to be used as a door prize!
