1 187 th Assault Helicopter Company Tay Ninh Province, Republic of Vietnam Welcome to the Capitol of the State of Texas located eighty miles north of San Antonio and on the eastern edge of the Texas Hill Country. Austin is located on the Colorado River and is situated on Lady Bird Lake. Upstream from Austin running downriver from west to east is Lake Buchannan, Inks Lake, Lake LBJ, Lake Marble Falls, Lake Travis, and finally Lake Austin just to the west of town. Austin is known for good music and good food with many choices to curb your appetite. The Austin Holiday Inn Midtown is located approximately five miles north of downtown and just west of Interstate 35. Everything is close, but a car would be handy to get around easily. Activities are designed to keep us together, however a lot of personal time is planned for you to find those things that you are most interested in. Our reunion is designed to facilitate the group activities of our organization as well as allowing for plenty of personal time to enjoy yourself while here. Key group activities will be a welcoming reception on Sunday evening, a Memorial Service on Monday, Veteran s Day, our Business Meeting and Ladies Luncheon, Silent Auction and Banquet. We have a personal goal of keeping our/your cost to a minimum. The Reunion Presentation on our Web Site will help with more information and research if you desire. Below are some bullet points to help in your planning and preparation for what we hope to be a renewal and building of old friendships. Plan to come early and stay late if you can, and bring a First Timer!! Hotel standard rate $125 with room upgrades available. Parking is free at the Hotel! This special rate is also available to reunion attendees for two days prior to and following our stay. Austin Bergstram International Airport is a twenty-minute drive from the Hotel and is serviced by most major airlines. Book early before fuel cost go up. Car/Rental will be desirable for those who desire getting around town the easiest. Reunion planners recommend as a great car rental tool. Consider buddying up with a car rental. Side Activities: Self-guided tours to the State Capitol, the LBJ Presidential Library, the Bob Bullock State History Museum, the Downtown Music Scene, cruises on Lady Bird Lake, double decker hop on hop off busses, and downtown and river Duck Tours and other options. A golf outing is being planned for Wednesday morning. Don t forget your silent auction items. Also, ladies are asked to bring a gift to be shared costing no more than ten dollars during the Ladies Luncheon. If you need to mail something early please let me know.
