7 overwiev Polish shipbuildig idustry Mixed fortues Durig the year 2005 Polish shipyards completed 30 ships of CGT ad deadweight of toes, at the value of USD 933 millio (all for foreig accout), thus retured to the mai productio level of the years before the crisis. At the ad of 2005 the order book cosisted of 87 uits of CGT ad the value of USD 3168 millio (all for foreig accout). The orderbook cosisted maily of cotaier ships (46 pcs. - over 1 mil. CGT), followed by car carriers ad ro-ro (co-ro) vessels. There is sigificat growth of umber ad value of o-cargo vessels ordered. The itake of ew orders durig the year was moderate - 22 ships of CGT or dwt - i cosequece of high orderig activity i 2004 ad sufficiet backlog of shipyards for comig years. I 2006 cotractig i major Polish ewbuildig yards was also ot too fast, maily due to ucertaity experieced by Polish yards. For the period of 2005, Gdyia Shipyard, Gdask Shipyard ad Szczeci New Shipyard, were cocetratig productio o their best products: - Gdyia Shipyard - car carriers 6600 PTCT ad 2000 PCTC, cotaier ships ad LPG-NH3 carriers, - Gdask Shipyard - cotaier ships 2700 TEU, - Szczeci New Shipyard - cotaier ships TEU, co-ros of CGT ad chemical takers with Duplex steel taks. Gdask Shiprepair Yard Remotowa ad particularly ewbuildig yard Norther Shipyard, member of REMONTOWA Group, are focusig maily o o-cargo vessels of high added value. The productio programme of those two yards cosists of various kids of ferries, achor hadlig, towig & supply vessels, multi-fuctio buoy teders, rapid itervetio vessels, ice breakig emergecy evacuatio vessels, tugs ad fishig vessels. 10 ship of this kid were delivered i 2005 ad 14 are to be completed i This is chage i productio programme ad policies at major ewbuildig yards, that make it hard to fid ay iterestig prototype ewbuildigs. Also the et profit exceeded the previous years results, at PLN 22 millio i It appears it is possible eve despite the domiatio of prototypes i last years ewbuildig productio portfolio, while ewbuildigs cotributed as much as 32 percet to the Group s sales ad coversios costituted 31 percet of the icome, leavig just slightly above oe third geerated from repairs. The year 2005 saw the costructio of 10 ships at Remotowa, ad its ewbuildigs specialised subsidiary Stoczia Pó³oca (Norther Shipyard). Accordig to uofficial iformatio the price per uit was USD 54 millio at the time of sigig the iitial cotract, which might have bee reegotiated sice. The first uit from the series, the B588- III/1 Bow Su, was officially delivered ad left the yard o August 1, Bow Star ad Bow Sprig were delivered durig 2004, while Bow Sky i April May 2005 saw lauch of the fifth of eight cotracted vessels - Bow Summer, which was delivered the same year. This year already the sixth uit - Bow Sea - has bee delivered. The shipyard has 2 uits of the B588 series still o order. They are destied for delivery i 4th quarter of this year ad 2d quarter of Jue 17, this year, saw the lauchig of the seveth out of eight uits ordered - the Bow Sirius, with expected delivery i November or December. Ordered from a Polish shipyard, Remotowa S.A., the vessels are desiged especially for heavy project cargoes o deck, ad will be built to comply with the Fiish-Swedish ice class I A requiremets. Remotowa will help Meriaura Oy Ltd to achieve its objective to become oe of the leadig trasporters of heavy project cargoes aroud the Baltic Sea. Moder year-roud toage for project cargo trasports at the Baltic Sea ad especially withi the icy Fiish coast has ever existed. With the developmet of this cocept, the possibilities of trasportig differet kids of specialised project cargoes aroud the Baltic Sea will be cosiderably icreased. Added flexibility is associated with the fact, that the ship is capable ot just of trasportig fiished blocks but also of carryig raw materials, such as steel plates ad profiles, to yards. The vessel cocept icludes several iovative ad pateted solutios. The vessel is a moo-hulled ope deck carrier with forecastle, accommodatio block ad wheelhouse located fore. The dieseldrive mai propulsio machiery is locat- ed i aft, while the electric power geeratio plat ad auxiliary machiery - i the fore part. The operatig speed is about 13 kots. Electricity ca also be geerated by power-take-off arragemet at mai egies. The vessel is to be equipped with Itegrated alarm, moitorig ad cotrol system (IMACS). The propulsio machiery comprises two diesel egies, each coupled to a azimuth propulsio uit with a cotrollable pitch propeller. Today, after 16 deliveries, they still hold this record. The B178 cotaier ships, judgig from the yard s track record ad curret orderbook, seem to be a very successful desig, with may further ewbuildig cotracts i yard s orders portfolio. At preset, there are still 7 more B178- I uits o order left, ad 11 uits from a slightly smaller versio B178-III. At the ed of April 2006, aother B178-I ship was delivered CCNI Arica. Cotract for the iitial four uits was siged i October 2003 ad exteded later to total of 8 uits. The per uit price tag seems to be somewhat above USD 50 millio accordig to uofficial sources. The vessels, ordered by Trasfeica s mai shareholder, Spliethoff of Amsterdam, are a start of the sixth geeratio of ro-ro vessels i Fiish operator s fleet. These ew, 6th geeratio ships, are icorporatig features eablig fast ad reliable service eve i heavy ice coditios. The Trasfeica operated vessels of the sixth geeratio will be more versatile ad have a carryig capacity of about the double i cotaiers ad trailers i compariso to Baltic shipower s preset successful fifth geeratio of 20+ kot fleet. The ship was built at Norther Shipyard. It has bee ordered by Norwegia ower Nor-Ferjer Volda A/S, a joit veture - Stavagerske ad HSD set up to serve a ew route betwee Volda ad Folkstad i Norway from 1 Jauary The 87-metre ferry is operated at Norway fjord. It ca carry 300 passegers ad 85 cars or 8 trucks. The ship was built with symmetric hull ad deckhouse of welded steel costructio, a cotiuous car deck (mai deck), diesel egies powered with azimuth thrusters o each ed, side house o each side with upper deck for carryig of the cars, fixed ramps for loadig/uloadig o each ed of the side house. Triity House s ew Multi-Fuctio Teder (MFT), Galatea, marks the fial stage of a GBP 38 millio ivestmet o three ew vessels by the UK ad Irish Geeral Lighthouse Authorities (GLA s). Tidewater Marie, based i New Orleas, USA, placed a order for a pair of type NED 8167 L achor hadlig towig supply vessels (AHTSV) with optios for two more ships, later tur ito firm order, eve with additioal uits ordered up to 6 uits, of which the first oe, de Mouli Tide, has meawhile bee delivered as metioed above.. I order to esure that the vessel is ready for this upgrade, two 800 HP side thrusters shall be istalled alog with two 250 kw auxiliary geerator sets. It is owed by a group of parters led by Agip. Agip KCO, a fully owed Ei compay, is the operator of the offshore Kashaga oil field o behalf of a cosortium of seve compaies.. The members of the Cosortium are: Agip Caspia Sea B.V. (Operator 18.52%), KazMuayGas (8.33%), Ei 18.52%; Exxo- Mobil 18.52%; Shell 18.52%; Total 18.52%; CoocoPhillips; 9.26%; INPEX 8.33%. The etire Caspia Sea is aroud 30m below sea level ad while the mea water depth as a whole is 208 m, this is cosiderably shallower to the orth-east. Moreover, the cotract provides Agip KCO with a optio to order four additioal vessels. The last uit from the first batch of these uique vessels was lauched mid-august. All four evacuatio vessels should be delivered by November The vessels would be used to carry out the emergecy evacuatio of persoel from offshore istallatios located i the Kashaga Field, which is curretly oe of the largest offshore developmets i the world. IBEEV represets state-of-the-art techology ad complies with Det Norske Veritas class otatio X 1A1 ICE 1B DAT (-30 C). The vessels measure m i legth, 8.0 m i beam ad 3.60 m i depth. The shallow waters of Caspia Sea also required tight desig cotrol over the draught of the vessel, which is ot to exceed 2.0 m i summer ad 2.1 i witer coditios.
