2 Welcome Cattle Producers: We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in our program and taking the time to look at this catalog. We welcome you to view the information that we have assembled through this catalog as well as additional material on our website such as videos of the bulls and carcass ultrasound information. The additional information was not available at the time that this catalog was printed so we are attempting to get that information to you as easy as possible. We want to make any information that will help you in your selection of genetics available to you in the easiest possible way. As we look back over the 2011 year what a banner year it has been for agriculture and especially the cattle industry. With the record prices that we have seen over the past 9 months it at times appears that there is no end in sight as to where these prices are going to level out at. Most of you who have been in this industry long enough know that what goes up must come down at some point but the low cattle numbers seem to indicate that we may enjoy some profi table years to come. With the price level that we are at on all classes of cattle it is hard to determine the value of genetics this bull season. As the reports of the early bull sales are being published it seems that averages are $1,000 to $1,500 increased over last year. When I look at the prices for slaughter bulls and calves today, which are almost double of what they were four years ago, it is easier to see that the cost/pregnancy has not changed that much. With the mild winter this year the bulls have outgained what the nutritionist said the ration would do. We have had to reduce the amount of grain twice as the bulls have gained more than the 2.5 pound average daily gain that we shoot for. We hope that by sale day the bulls will have the condition needed to be ready to go to work in breeding pastures and not be too fl eshy. The 2012 offering has more width, depth, and thickness along with uniformity than we have ever offered. Over 30 of the bulls in the offering are going to be able to be used on heifers with confi dence. We still believe that the strongest part of the bulls that we are offering is the females behind them. We will again have the cows displayed the day of the sale so that you may be able to look through the cows to see their feet and legs, udder structure, fl eshing ability and dispositions which we feel are a necessity as well as a convenience. We look forward to this time of year as it gives us an opportunity to meet many new people as well as visit with old friends about their challenges and goals in their cattle operations. After this time the bulls will be at the ranch. SALE VIDEO The video of the sale cattle will be available to view at or by March 1, If you don t have high speed internet or are unable to view the video over the internet contact us for a DVD on the sale cattle. SALE FORMAT: Once again we will be offering the bulls through a rancher s auction. We will have an auctioneer that will auction the sale in a relaxed atmosphere. Each interested buyer will be able to bid on the bull of their choice with low pressure and the ability to be comfortable. All settlements will be made with clerks of the sale immediately following the conclusion of the sale and before any cattle will be released. We will follow the Terms and Conditions set forth by the Red Angus Association of America. Announcements made by seller on sale day take precedence over any statements printed in this catalog or advertisement. DELIVERY We will provide delivery up to 300 miles. Over 300 miles we will work with the buyer to make arrangements on delivery. A $50 credit per bull will be applied to the purchase price of the bull if the new owner picks up the bull(s) on the day of the sale. Delivery of the bulls will start the week after the sale. BULL HEALTH PROGRAM The bulls received Vision 7 at branding and then are pre-conditioned in September with Pfizer One Shot Ultra 7, Bovishield 5 Gold. The bulls were poured with Dectomax in November and boostered with Bovishield 5 Gold. In December the bulls were given the first shot of Fusiguard. The Fusiguard was boostered in January and they were poured with Ivermectin at this time. Semen evaluations are performed by Don Beck of the Fallon Co. Vet Service prior to the sale with all evaluations available sale day. BULL DEVELOPMENT The bulls are fed on a ration to develop them into sound functional useable bulls for big country. They are fed to gain 2.5 lb per day. The ration consists of whole kernel corn(7.0 lbs), distiller s grain(2.0 lbs.), silage and chopped grass/ alfalfa hay. This ration is developed to use 1% of the feed base being grain to reach our goal of 2.5 lb gain. The bulls are in a 20-acre pasture to ensure adequate exercise. They have been developed at Bruce & Eric Bowman s feedlot which is located 1 mile south of Rhame, N.D. SEMEN INTEREST Milk Creek Reds is retaining one-half revenue-sharing semen interest in all bulls in the sale. The retained semen interest by Milk Creek Reds allows us to collect semen, use semen on the bull in our herd, as well as share in semen revenue if the bull would develop interest to be used in other herds or semen marketing companies.
