When Bill considered a purchase across the country, he first studied the pedigrees in the catalogs, but then when he called someone to look at the animal, if they didn t look the part, they weren t bid upon and if they were, they always were on a trailer to Crossville. Bill then took the next step after putting these great females together, he then went after a herd sire, that wasn t the norm in Charolais circles and ended up with the great Cooley Royce 1107T39 in his pasture. 3 1 L02 Cow Family Observed bred to Cooley Royce 1107T39 on There have been some great Cigar daughters throughout the Charolais industry, but this may well be the best of them all. At ten years of age she still possesses flawless udder structure along with loads of milk. That along with her tremendous volume and power makes her the feature of this sale. Lot 1 s dam SCV Miss Rocky A375 was purchased out of the Stipe herd in Montana for F & F Charolais by Floyd Wampler, when he thought she was the very best brood cow in that herd. On Mr. Wampler s advice, Bill Garrett purchased L02 out of the Green Pasture s Dispersal Sale for $7,750. Green Pasture s manager Ennis Wallace agreed then that she was the best female on the ranch. L02 has been flushed four times, once each to Wyoming Wind, Mac 2244, Impressive D040 and Three Trees Wind 2638, a flush mate to #0383. Those female progeny sell in the following lots. Also selling will be her 2008 natural calf by WWCR Alliance 2085 along with her natural heifer calf by side by Royce and she is special. Another daughter by Wyoming Wind was sold in the National Charolais Sale in Fort Worth, Texas where at ten-months of age she commanded $4,250. Cooley Royce 1107T39 first grabbed attention when he topped the November 2008 Camp Cooley Ranch three day bull and female sale at $13,000 for one half interest selling to Bill Garrett. His fantastic dam #1107N60 (pictured above) had sold the previous June for $5,750 to Bruner Polled Charolais in Texas. Southern Cattle Company in Florida purchased the maternal grandam #1107K7 for $9,500. And her dam, the original #1107 was purchased by Camp Cooley Ranch from Wienk Charolais in South Dakota during the National Charolais Sale in Louisville for $20,000 to start the whole thing. It was stated at the time of the sale by the Camp Cooley Ranch staff, that Cooley Royce was the best Charolais herd sire prospect they had ever seen produced. This son of Schurrtop HCR Rancher combined with1107n60 to build a herd sire of breed changing stature. Royce possesses a truly masculine structure, with a big soft rib cage, explosive length of body and muscle thickness shape throughout. With this type of structure you wouldn t think calving ease, but it is there. Bill Garrett states that this is the easiest calving bull he has ever used, including many of the breeds most prominate A.I. sires. This will be the first outing of Royce progeny and service, but it is far from the last.
