1 Oregon Good Sam Club Newsletter October 2016, Issue 9 This is your last chance to register for the FALL GATHERING. Please fill out the form on the next page and mail it to Joyce Davis right away. I can understand how you could let this slip because I hadn t filled my form out either. It is not something we have done in the past. The reason we need to know how many people are coming is because we are ordering a special chicken dinner, homemade cinnamon rolls and making the rest of the food. Thank you for helping me make this required meeting work. I so appreciate it. Karen Where to find it.. 4 SO Sams Eugene Sojourners Good Sam Trav l Nuts Rogue River Roosters Karen s Chat. The summer is flying by so fast. Larry and I have camped with a different Chapter almost every week. Our hearts are full with the memories and the new friendships we have found. As you can see by the photos, we have had a ton of fun. We have also camped in new-to-us RV parks. Last week we were at Twin Rivers RV Park west of Roseburg. If you haven t been there, you need to put it on your camping schedule next year ~ so peaceful, quiet and beautiful, The new owners are working hard to make it an experience you won t forget. Wow, Rollin Roamers and the Ready Roamers already have their tentative 2017 campout schedules put together and sent to me. Our webmaster has put a calendar on our website. I am looking forward to seeing all our schedules on that calendar someday. There are a lot of other things I want to see on that website, too. As soon as our camping schedule slows down by the end of October, you will hopefully find me working on that project. Karen WE LOVE OREGON! WE LOVE TO RV! WE LOVE TO CAMP WITH OTHERS! WE LOVE TO HELP PEOPLE! That s why we belong to an Oregon Good Sam Chapter! 9 Getting To Know You No one guessed who the special person was that I featured last month. It was none other than our own Ann Springer. Now that you know who it was you might like to go back and reread her story. The answer of this story is on the last page of this Drifter. This month s story features another gal. Guess who it is.. 1. I was born in Wauneta, Nebraska but grew up in Palisade, Nebraska. I grew up in a time and place where we would be outside every minute we could, no matter what the weather. All we had to worry about was listening for mom to yell out the door for us to come in for supper. 2. The schools I attended were: Palisade Grade School, Perkins County High School and Umpqua Community College. 3. The most unusual job I ever had was when a man brought me two little round pouches from his deer and wanted me to make a coin purse for him. 4. I have 14 grandkids and 6 great grandkids; there are too many stories to tell. 5. I still love to sew. I could spend my whole day doing that. 6. I played the French horn in the high school band starting in the fourth grade. 7. I really like being with people and taking classes. I dislike book work of any kind. 8. My dream vacation would be a trip to Ireland. I would also like to go to Niagara Falls. 9. My favorite color is purple or pink. Other favorites are Italian food, music of the 60 s Greatest Show On Earth movie and Alaska travel shows on TV. DIRECTIONS TO THE FALL GATHERING Take I-84 to Hood River, exit 64 Drive south on Hwy 35 to the Odell cut off, turning right Drive straight ahead until you come to Aga Road Turn right on Aga Road (sign is on the fence) Turn left on Ehrck Hill Road Fairgrounds is on the corner of Ehrck Hill Road and WyEast Road There will be someone at the entrance to guide you to your parking site If no one is there to help you, call on your cell and we will come running 9

ENJOYED OUR NON-CAMPOUT AT RICE HILL A funny story from the Weekend Sams Newsletter The August campout at Rice Hill RV Resort was cancelled but some did not get the message. The Harrisons showed up Thursday and the park said that we were cancelled. They gave them a space anyway and Joan called me because she knew we were coming. We still wanted to go so called the park and they gave us a space next to Cliff and Joan. Eric and I then ran into Jay and Sandy at Best Buy and asked them if they were going and they said, no it was cancelled. We told them we were going anyway and they decided to go as well. So there were three couples at the non-campout and we had a great time. Highlight was going to the ice cream shack for Umpqua ice cream. The park was very nice and the staff were very accommodating. We would go there again. We missed the rest of you. 10
