Happy Birthday April Trina Snelling - 11th Mary Frederick - 30th Happy Anniversary April Don and Tressa - 16th - 32 years spending quiet time in their rigs resting and relaxing. Kelly s RV Park, Callahan, Florida The March camp out at Kelly s Country RV Park started on Thursday. Arriving for the Early Bird were Don and Tressa, Larry and Harriet, Joe and Buddy, Al, Dave and Lucy; later, Linda and Frank came in and got set up. In between the sunshine and rainy weather, several of us had a challenge getting our satellites set up - true to living the Good Sam ideal, everyone pitched in to help get them set up. Carol and Joe were going to join us, but had to cancel due to an issue with Joe's blood pressure. For 2 o'clock tea time we had chocolate eclair cake. Then the rain really came in most folks ended up On Friday morning, after a delicious breakfast featuring biscuits and sausage gravy, Al went to pick up Della, who had stayed home to get her physical therapy. Then Paula, Jim and Paula's parents joined us, along with their grandson, Cole. Folks spent the day visiting and walking around the park - thanks to the beautiful weather. Most of us went to dinner at St. Mary's Seafood in Callahan. The food was wonderful as usual and so was the service. We returned to Kelly's where some sat around enjoying a good social time. Some played Jokers or Sequence, while others sat and visited. Saturday morning, Sharon and Pam joined us for the day. Also, Hank, Carol and Joe surprised us for the day. For breakfast that Buddy and Joe prepared two casseroles (one bacon, one sausage). We then had our chapter meeting. Since Debbie was sick with a cold, Harriet and Tressa conducted the meeting. Afterward, there was a lot of social time, cards, and board games for the day.

2 We had tea time, snacks, and relaxed for a while. For dinner, Larry cooked 2 Boston Butts on his new smoker. We had potato bar, coleslaw, bake beans, and all the sides and sweets we could eat. We never go hungry. Once again, Jokers and Sequence was played, while Paula worked with Tressa to help her lean how to hand quilt. On Sunday morning, Tressa left early to attend her church, Sharon was not present, so we waived services Sunday morning. We then packed up and headed home. It turned out to be a very calm and pleasant weekend. SHIRT ORDERS - Sharon Bundy has been gathering orders for new shirts (t-shirts/golf) in both Sam and Samantha styles. A number of our members attended the Georgia Samboree in Perry. Susan Roche participated in the River Run - being able to cross the bridges and finish! Jim McDade had his left knee surgery. Don, Tressa, John and Sue, along with the pups went to visit the McDade s after he got home. The first of April (yes, Easter Sunday), we went to the VA Medical Center for our regular visit. Thanks to the generosity of folks, we not only had our normal donations, but nearly 100 stuffed animals to raffle off to 2

3 the residents. Our Lunch Bunch at St. Mary s Seafood was a great success - we had 22 people attending - great food, wonderful time visiting with each other. 5 From D McDade: SPECIAL NOTES ABOUT FUTURE CAMP OUTS Early info on the June 25 th - 28 th camp out. Location: Big Wheel RV Park, 6031 Charlie Smith Sr. Hwy. St. Marys, GA They have all pull thru sites on cement pads, 30/50 amp service, with the clubhouse just a short distance from each site. Early Bird (3 nights stay, with Passport America) site fee is $98.88 tax included, $25.00 required deposit in advance, non-refundable but reusable, balance due $ A 2 night stay with Passport America is $59.33 tax included, $25.00 required deposit in advance, will result in a balance due $34.33 upon arrival. Owners are Ron & Karen Moody, require the advance $25.00 reservation deposit. For Reservations call They also prefer, cash, check or money order upon arrival, as they are not set up to take credit/debit cards. Directions: take exit 3 off I95, turn left at light (Rte 40). Go approx. 2 miles, turn left on King s Bay Rd. Go 2.9 miles to Spur 40 turn left (Kings Bay Naval Base is at that intersection) Pass Riverwalk, approx. 3.1 miles, Big Wheel is on the left side. For those of you who no longer have RV s or would prefer to stay at the Navy Lodge, please feel free to contact the Kings Bay Naval Base MWR office for reservations. Military ID REQUIRED. Tentative plans are for a Scavenger Hunt, Where are we?, Color My World fun, Card Bingo, etc., an Early Bird Taco Bar plus ice cream, 2 cooked breakfasts, 1 potluck (Ham provided) and 1 evening eat out at the Millhouse Steakhouse. FALL SAMBOREE - November (17 EB) 18-22, Eustis, Florida. Mark your calendar and hold the dates! The theme this year is "Memories of Christmas Past" - so get your thinking caps on for our Chapter s participation. Watch for the registration form, which will be added as soon as it is available. NEW YEAR S CELEBRATION CAMP OUT Note that the dates have been changed to December 31 through January 3rd, as the 4th weekend falls on the Christmas weekend. Due to the time of year, locating a campground to hold the camp out is more of a challenge. Therefore, please let either Al Richardson and Sharon Bundy know (by May 1st) if you are considering attending. Sharon and Pam will be responsible for activities during the weekend, with the exception of the Party and the New Year s Luncheon, which will be hosted by the Chapter Officers. 5
