1 The Story of OUR Gingerbread Man by Mrs. Reichmann s Class December 2, 2014

2 the mixers the shapers the decorators On December 2, 2014 something unusual occurred at Minnewaska Elementary in Mrs. Reichmann s Class. It really is quite a story, you probably should sit down before you read this. Are you sitting? Seriously we wouldn t have believed it if we hadn t seen it with our own eyes. Alrighty then, here it goes. The day started out like any normal kindergarten day. During Daily 5, we helped measure, mix and stir the gingerbread dough. We took turns shaping and decorating our tasty treat. We commented on how good it smelled and talked about if we liked to cook/bake and what things we liked to cook/bake. We told stories about baking with mom s, dad s, grandma s, grandpa s etc Then when we were all done with our masterpiece it was time for lunch. We took him with us to the lunchroom for the cooks to bake him for us and then went on with our day-- lunch, recess, math and music and then that is when things got crazy. We went as a class to pick up our gingerbread man, so we could all tell the cooks thank-you and well, things were anything but normal

3 After music we went to the kitchen to pick up our freshly baked gingerbread man. Much to our surprise when we got there the cooks told us he ran out of the oven when they opened it! They said he went out of the kitchen and didn t know where he ran to. We thought about it and decided that the office knows everything about school and would surely have information to help us find him! So off to the office we went

4 In the office we found Ms. Pam and we asked her if she had seen our gingerbread man. She said he had just run through her office and she tried to catch him, but all she got was a piece of his leg! He was trying to find band aids to fix himself He left a crumb trail as he ran through the office into nurse Terri s office. So off to nurse Terri s we went.

5 The band aid mess is here! We followed the crumb trail to nurse Terri s and when we got there she was busy cleaning up. We asked her if she had seen the gingerbread man and she said yes he had been there, and left a mess of Band-Aids on the floor. She guessed he was trying to fix all the spots he was loosing crumbs from. She said when she tried to help him all he could talk about was finding place to run! So off to the gym we headed!

6 Keep Looking! On our L-O-N-G walk to the gym, we asked Miss Bria and Mr. Jeff if they had seen the gingerbread man. Guess what?? They were both really upset because, yes they had seen him running and that is not ok in school. That gingerbread man is sneaky and naughty! They said he was running toward the gym we knew we were hot on his trail now!

7 We finally got to the gym and found Mr. Timm working with first graders. Mr. Timm said he had seen our gingerbread man! He said he came running into the gym and looked around and when he noticed that it was first graders, not kindergarteners, he got worried. He said he needed to find someone who knew a lot about listening and Howard B. Wigglebottom. We as a class knew right away that he went to Miss Amber s. So back out into the hall we went.

8 On our way to Miss Amber s room, we ran into Miss Judy. We asked her if she had seen our gingerbread man she said she saw him in our room in the morning, but that was the last she had seen him. She said we better hurry and look because if he s that fast, we might never catch him! So off we went!

9 We didn t have far to go. When we found Miss Amber s room. The door was shut, so we knocked and when she opened the door we saw a pile of crumbs on the floor. That gingerbread man sure was leaving a mess!! She said he was looking for a quiet place to read and rest so off to the Library we went!

10 Once inside the library we asked Miss Ward and Mrs. Peterson if they had seen our gingerbread man. Miss Ward said he had come running through and was very loud. He couldn t find the book he was looking for so he thought he would go back to the classroom to look and find the kids. So off down the hall back to our classroom we went!

11 Once we got back to our classroom, he was laying back on his pan we all got to sample the gingerbread man cookie with our milk. The boys and girls agreed that it was a tasty treat! THE END
