4 Karen s Chat: I do like the snow (I m an Iowa girl) but we didn t have to put up with it for weeks and weeks like so many of you did or are still doing. This Drifter would have been shorter if I hadn t put all the registration forms in it. I thought about just putting them on the webpage, but changed my mind. I really want you all to seriously consider attending as many of our OGS Regional and State meetings as you can. They are fun! I have a true story to tell you:. The Mississippi Good Sam Club doesn t have a candidate to run for State Director. So they are going to become DORMANT, just like some of our OGS Chapters. That means they will have to close down the shop; no bank account, donate all their money to a non-profit, have no campouts, rallies or meetings and turn in all their Good Sam paraphernalia. How sad!!! I don t want that to happen to Oregon. Let s work together to simplify and streamline our OGS rules, processes and meetings and enjoy what we are doing. Good Sam has a wonderful reason for being - YOU! I am looking for YOU!; someone who cares about making people happy, has courage to try new things, is full of ideas, and has some energy and wisdom beside. That s what Ann told me and she was right. We are sure going to miss her. I am ready to accept an offer from someone to become either the State Director at the end of this year or come on board with the title of Executive Assistant to the Director as you work toward the Directorship in two years. The deadline is the first of May. Karen A WELL-PLANNED RETIREMENT (Sent to me by Randy Wells, Blue Mountain Good Sams. He received it from the widow of a man he once worked with at a tire store. Randy was about 20, the man was older and a very positive mentor to Randy. Randy has kept in contact with the man s wife since he passed away many years ago. Her name is Wanda Wyrick, his was Guy Wyrick. Very wonderful people.) Outside England's Bristol Zoo there is a parking lot for 150 cars and 8 buses. For 25 years, its parking fees were managed by a very pleasant attendant...the fees for cars ($1.40),for buses (about $7). Then, one day, after 25 solid years of never missing a day of work, he just didn't show up; so the zoo management called the city council and asked it to send them another parking agent. The council did some research and replied that the parking lot was the zoo's own responsibility. The zoo advised the council that the attendant was a city employee. The city council responded that the lot attendant had never been on the city payroll. Meanwhile, sitting in his villa somewhere on the coast of Spain, or France, or Italy, is a man who'd apparently had a ticket booth installed completely on his own and then had simply begun to show up every day, commencing to collect and keep the parking fees, estimated at about $560 per day -- for 25 years. Assuming 7 days a week, this amounts to just over $7 million dollars...and no one even knows his name. HA HA HA HA 4

Sally was driving home from one of her business trips in Northern Arizona when she saw an elderly Navajo woman walking on the side of the road. As the trip was a long and quiet one, she stopped the car and asked the Navajo woman if she would like a ride. With a silent nod of thanks, the woman got into the car. Resuming the journey, Sally tried in vain to make a bit of small talk with the Navajo woman. The old woman just sat silently, looking intently at everything she saw, studying every little detail, until she noticed a brown bag on the seat next to Sally. What in bag? asked the old woman. Sally looked down at the brown bag and said, It s a bottle of wine., I got it for my husband. The Navajo woman was silent for another moment or two. Then speaking with the quiet wisdom of an elder, she said: Good trade. 16
