3 GENERAL GUILD MEETING June 25, 2018 Debbie, President, called meeting to order 6:00 pm Old Business: Nomination Committee - Guild members will need to elect some new Executive Board members, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Our President, Debbie, has elected to continue as President for 2019, but the position is open, if anyone would like to toss their name in for the members to vote. Charlene has volunteered to be the Chairperson of the Nomination Committee. Any questions, contact Charlene. Also, some committees may need new chairpersons for More to come on this. By-Laws Look in the newsletter for the recommended changes for the By-Laws, as noted before there is a suggested change for when membership is due and another recommendation is to remove the executive board member s names. Both these recommended changes will be in the July/August/September newsletter and we will vote on these recommended changes at the September Business Meeting. Retreat 2019 Diane, Chairperson, passed around a sign-up sheet for She is trying to get an idea of who is interested in next year s retreat. Camp Casey has raised the price on renting the kitchen from $200 to $250. Also, they have not decided what they are going to charge to move the furniture for next year. At this time the approximate cost is $160 per person for the entire retreat and that is for 22 people to attend. Keep in mind the back room is available for sewing as well. This might be a way to accommodate additional quilters. A signup sheet went around for volunteers to be the Hostess of the day at the retreat. Enrollment for the 2019 Retreat will start in August of this year. Hospitality - A sign-up for the Snack Schedule for the general meeting went around for members to commit to providing snacks/drinks for the next 3 months. Susan will give this to Jackie, Chairperson. On a side note, Jackie is recovering well from her surgery. She is back to driving and should be at the July meeting. Membership It was recommended that we try to put our membership form on our website so potential new members could go there to print form off and bring to meeting. As a reminder our membership fees are going up to $30 per year. In January members will pay $15 for 6 months, then in June members will pay $30 for a full year. We are changing our year from June1 to May 31. The newsletter will have the suggested By-Law change for us to vote on at the September Business Meeting. Block Exchange Donna, Chairperson, let everyone know that the July theme is Shades of Green. Sew Day for guild members will be Saturday, June 30 th. Information on this fun-filled day of sewing. Family and/or friends are welcome. Don t forget to bring your snacks and lunch. There will be a few community quilts to work on, if you choose to do so. Page 3
