4 August 25, 2015 Lyndhurst Home Day 5301 Mayfield Road Lyndhurst, Ohio CONTACT - PATRICK WARD wardp@lyndhurst-oh.com Home # or Cell# For Immediate Release The kids are already back in school. School buses, backpacks, and shorter days with cooler nights can signal the end of summer in northeast Ohio. In Lyndhurst, however, it is Home Day that marks the change of seasons and says Fall is just around the corner. This year the Home Day Committee has lined up all of the expected Festival Fare ; great food, rides, games of chance, crafters, community groups and entertainment, but this year the Committee has made some changes to the schedule for their Community of Neighbors. This year Home Day will kick off with the second annual FRIDAY FAMILY FUN NIGHT and will feature a Big Tent filled with kids games, a family DJ, the Balloon Ninja, contests and prizes along with other family oriented fun! The park will be alive with great food, rides and more! Saving September 11 th, 12 th and 13 th on your calendar is well worth doing. Lyndhurst Home Day will magically Rock, Croon and Swing us into Fall. After a rocking start with local sensation The Swamp Boogie Band, on Saturday afternoon, the band Time Traxx will be on the main stage with their sensational stylings for Saturday evening. Following a great Pancake Breakfast and the area s best Parade on Sunday, the world-known but home-grown magician, Rick Smith Jr. will amaze with magical illusions. The evening will open with the wonderful Sinatra stylings of Steve Fazzini and the weekend will close on the highest notes possible with the smooth sounds of Sophisticated Swing. No matter your musical taste there will absolutely be something to enjoy at Lyndhurst Home day! For the complete schedule of Lyndhurst Home Day events visit and click on the Home Day link.
5 The Lyndhurst Home Day Committee is excited to present the Community with what is planned to be the best Home Day weekend ever! The event, which dates back to 1926, making it the original and longest running event of its kind in the Greater Cleveland area, will kick off Friday, September 11 th, at 6:00 p.m. in Lyndhurst Park behind Lyndhurst City Hall at 5301 Mayfield Road. A fun-filled weekend of crowd pleasing rides, games, awesome entertainment, delectable foods and treats, crafts and great community organizations is planned with such features as; The second annual Friday Family Fun Night (which was a HUGE hit last year) a Beer Garden, great food selections and an entertainment line-up which includes hot acts like The Swamp Boogie Band, and an awesome Saturday headline show featuring the Motown and top 40 stylizations of Cleveland s own, Time Traxx Band from 6:30-10:30 p.m., Sunday magical illusions by Rick Smith jr., followed by some seriously great Sinatra stylings by Steve Fazzini and will finish off with the swinging sounds of the 18 piece Sophisticated Swing Big Band starting at 6:30 pm! Wonderful prizes, provided by our local merchants on Mayfield and at Legacy Village, will be sure to excite everyone! Friday Family Fun Night, from 7-10pm, will feature kids games, a Family DJ, The Balloon Ninja, contests and prizes along with a park filled with rides, games and great food. Saturday, the midway opens at 1:00 p.m. with a cornucopia of food from Gyros to Pizza to Barbecue Beef and Pulled Pork to Cavatelli to Ice Cream to Shaved Ice to Funnel Cakes and so much more along with rides and magical family entertainment all along the Midway. The main stage will rock to life at 3pm with The Swamp Boogie Band from 3:00-6:00pm who will warm up the crowd for Saturday s headline act Time Traxx Band bringing Top 40, Motown and much more to the Main Stage from 7-10pm! Sunday morning will find many Lyndhurst residents and friends at the Lyndhurst Community Center enjoying the annual Pancake Breakfast, from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon, where proceeds from the $5 Adult - $3 Child/Senior and $15 family ticket sales will benefit the fabulous Brush High School Arcettes. The crowds always look forward to Sunday s Home Day Parade and this one will be very special with the, zipping Al Koran Corvettes, rocking to the tunes of the Brush Arcs Marching Band under the direction of Mrs. Kaylee Flynt and will roll to the nostalgic music of a vintage Circus Calliope along with many other parade favorites!
6 The Sunday midway will open immediately following the parade with the National Anthem performed by the Brush Arcs Marching Band as the flag is raised by the Color Guard representatives of VFW Post #7536 and wreath laying by the Ladies Auxiliary, at the Lyndhurst Veterans Memorial. The afternoon will have magic and illusions in the Big Tent with Rick Smith from 2:15 to 3pm. Back in the Big Tent we will feature the talented Steve Fazzini singing all your Sinatra favorites from 4pm-6pm after which the evening s HUGE HEADLINE ACT all 18 pieces of them the Big Band sensation Sophisticated Swing will take the stage and give the 2014 Home Day Celebration a smooth send off!
