As I write this message at 35,000 feet on our way to San Diego, my heart is grateful. MOCC is filled with wonderful, caring, generous people! What a weekend! Friday s set-up went so smoothly, followed by almost 30 of us continuing the fun at El Tapatio! Many members began their Saturday morning at 6 a.m. setting up coffee, food, registration and parking at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. 115 Corvettes made their way to the Christian Children s Home of Ohio and filled their grounds with powerful colors. A large number of CCHO staff were there to assist in making Cruisin For the Kids run smoothly. One of my favorite parts of this day is talking with the kids while they enjoy their special treats of soft drinks and ice cream. They loved presenting Kids Choice trophies and riding in some gorgeous Corvettes. Generosity was the word of the day. Donations! Auction! 50/50! Judie the Clown! Other clubs who passed a hat to provide generous cash donations! The music and beautiful sunshine helped to make the day perfect! Looking ahead we have our September 11th MOCC meeting at CCHO. On Sunday September 23rd our club is putting on a Low Speed event with Corvette Cleveland in Lorain. 2 Page 2 Bob and Mary are charter members of the Mid-Ohio Corvette Club. Bob works in the Hardware Department at Gerber Lumber in Kidron. Mary has a seasonal position at the J.M. Smucker Company in Orrville. We both enjoy helping with the benefit for the Christian Children s Home, doing crafts, and decorating at our church for Christmas. Going out to dinner with the Car Club and Car Show are also our favorite thing to do. We have a son and daughter, and three (so far) grandkids, that we love spending time with. Our first Corvette was a 1962 Collector Edition, which we kept for twenty years. In 2011 we sold that one for a Crystal Red Coupe. Recently, we added a 2006 Silver Convertible to our family! As the story goes.. WE CAME FOR THE CAR AND STAYED FOR THE PEOPLE! Our Member Spotlight for Bob and Mary Moomaw

3 Page 3 Thirty seven members and one guest (who became a member) of Mid-Ohio Corvette Club attended the Aug. 7, 2018 meeting held at Zion Lutheran Church, 301 N. Market St., Wooster. Becky Foster of Wooster was welcomed as a guest and new member. She is presently vice president of Construction and Maintenance of Buehler Foods and currently is a Republican candidate running for a Wayne County Commissioner position. She has a th Anniversary Edition Corvette. Welcome. President Joni Barkyoumb called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. Birthdays for : Wayne Davidhizar, Aug. 5 and Rhona Black, Aug. 7. Anniversaries: John and Deb Shanklin, Aug. 11; Steve and Joni Barkyoumb, Aug. 16; Dan and Laura Gallagher, Aug. 21 and Holey and Kim Baker, Aug. 28. The July 10, 2018 minutes stand as ed and mailed. Treasurer Wayne Davidhizar reported a beginning balance of $2, and ending balance of $1, effective Aug. 7, Inflows: Club meeting 50/ 50 $50;. Outflows: Trophies for CCHO and Lodi, $336; meeting room rent, $26. The total in the set-aside account for CCHO is $395. To date MOCC has turned over checks in amount of $6,500 (give or take a little) to CCHO. Following discussion it was decided to designate basket sales and Buy A Vote from Sunday s Lodi event to CCHO. Ken Mast made a motion and Darlene Morrison seconded motion for basket sales and Buy A Vote go to CCHO event with balance of monies from the Lodi car shows to remain with MOCC account. Motion passed. Wayne thanked everyone for their cards, prayers and concerns for his health scare. He said he received good news from the doctor in July. After receiving treatments his tumor in the lung is going away. Thanks for everyone s concern, he said. Governor Dan Gallagher told members they can pull upcoming events by going on web to corvettesnccc.org or EORNCCC.org. Gallagher reported 15 members have the potential of getting into the 200 point club. So far in the top 10: Terry Muich is in 1 st place, Jim Hartzler, 6 th and Dan Gallagher, 1th in men s division; Regi Muich, 6 th, Kathi Dembowski, 7 th women s division. Non-sanctioned car shows: Aug. 17, downtown Wooster; Aug. 18, downtown Orrville at the Rib Fest; Aug. 25, Lehman s in Kidron. Regina Muich is chair and Terry Muich, co-chair of the CCHO event. Terry Muich is chair of Lodi event and Regina Muich is co-chair. Paul and Donna Matjasic are doing the rallye for Sunday following the Lodi car shows. It was noted Regi Muich, Kathi Dembowski and Terry Muich received trophies at the Aug. 4, 5 Competition Corvette event. Congratulations! Membership: Regina Muich w elcomed Don and Carole Laney of Medina, w ho joined last month; and new member, Becky Foster. Activities-Socials: Kathy Mast and Kathi Dembowski said dinner after 8 p.m. will be at El Tapatio (after we get done setting up baskets, placing parking markers at CCHO). Bylaws: Ken Rutherford, Steve Barkyoumb, Regina Muich and Dan Gallagher w ill be on committee to review bylaw s and present proposals at the October meeting. Meeting adjourned at 7:47 p.m. Members remained to stuff Goodie bags. The next meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 11, 7 p.m. at Christian Children s Home of Ohio, 2685 Armstrong Rd., Wooster, to present check. Note the location! Darlene Morrison Secretary

10 Page 10 National Corvette Museum Events Link to weekly Anniversary Celebration Registration OPEN! 30-September 1 we mark the 24th Anniversary of the Museum. Registered attendees can enjoy three days of activities in and around the Museum including access to interesting and unique road tours, special video presentations, raffles, an open Membership meeting and more during this event. The event will also include the Lifetime/VIP dinner, 10/15/20/25-year member recognition, Ambassador Luncheon, and the Corvette Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and banquet where we will induct new members into the prestigious and elite group of recipients who have made a significant contribution to Corvette history.
