2 1. ` Letter From The President Bob Mashburn President, Mile-High Section October Behind the Wheel We all have a story on how or when we got our first Mercedes-Benz, here is my story. Our 2001 Buick Regal was on its last set of tires, so we started looking at a 2012 Buick Regal on the Internet. Other cars would pop up for a comparison, but this Mercedes-Benz 2012 C300 keep popping (I would click off because I thought I can t afford it) but, it popped again so I decided to take look at it. Everything I had added to the other cars came with this C300. Natalie came home from work and I said do you want to see your new car? I showed her the picture of the C300 and she laughed at me! She wanted to see the work sheet I had been comparing the cars too and then her next words were LET S GO GET IT! Three weeks later my truck said that s it and we went out and found my 2006 ML 350. I have enjoyed the vehicles ever since! (Side note, after the truck broke down we needed something to take the dogs to the lake and it wasn t going to be the new C300 according to Natalie). Our Annual Membership Meeting will be held at Perfect Landing on October 7th elections will be held for Officers and Board Members. October 14th we have a Ghost Tour of downtown Denver with Banjo Billy s bus tour with late lunch at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company prior to the tour. November 4th is our second annual planning breakfast at Golden Corral in Englewood. Start putting your ideas for next year s events together and send me your ideas to bob_mashburn78@yahoo.com and during our planning breakfast which is open to all members we put everything together for We plan a Regional trip each year and these take longer to put together so if you would like to plan something for summer for 2018 let us know. 7 ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING INFORMATION The by-laws of the Mile High Section of the Mercedes Benz club require we hold an annual membership meeting and elect Board of director members for the next 2 year term. The 2017 meeting will be held on Saturday October 7 th at the Perfect Landing Restaurant at the Centennial Airport. Please contact Michael Davisson to RSVP no latter than October 1 st for the dinner and meeting. Board members up for re-election are: Mike Redel Bob Mashburn Natalie Mashburn Lou Rogers Michael Davisson New Board Member After the election of the Board a short board meeting will be held to elect officers. If you would like to serve on our board please send you request to Mike Redel at mikeredel@outlook.com. We meet monthly to discuss club business and plan future events. Meeting usually last an hour or so. We currently meet at 6 pm the first Thursday of each month at Mercedes Benz of Denver on South Colorado Blvd. 7

Several people attended the 49th Annual Palisade Peach Festival. There were vendors, live music, and opportunities to purchase peaches, and peach products.

The second day there was a beautiful scenic drive to visit the Gateway Auto Museum.

This museum showcased beautifully restored cars from American automobile manufacturer s.

It is the longest historic structure in the state of Colorado.

8 MERCEDES-BENZ 2017 REGIONAL EVENT AUGUST 18, TRIP 2017 REPORT AUGUST 21, 2017 BALISTRERI WINERY - WINE TASTING EVENT REPORT On August 18, 2017, members of the Mile High Section met to take part in the Regional Event to the Colorado Western Slope. The first day of the trip was the drive from Denver to Palisade, Colorado. Several people attended the 49th Annual Palisade Peach Festival. There were vendors, live music, and opportunities to purchase peaches, and peach products. Everyone enjoyed the Ice Cream Social after eating at the Rockslide Restaurant in Grand Junction. The second day there was a beautiful scenic drive to visit the Gateway Auto Museum. The group was treated to a nice discussion about the history of the museum before touring the building. This museum showcased beautifully restored cars from American automobile manufacturer s. The day also included a drive to see the historic Hanging Flume on the Unaweep-Tabeguache Scenic and Historic Byway. This flume is regarded as an engineering marvel. It is the longest historic structure in the state of Colorado. After driving back to Grand Junction, everyone visited Grand Junction s number one attraction, Enstrom s Candies. Many of the group also tasted the famous Enstrom toffee ice cream. The third day was a drive to visit the Colorado National Monument. This national park has beautiful scenic stops to marvel the unique landscapes of the area. That fternoon included a visit to four popular wineries in Palisade. It was an opportunity to taste and purchase wine from the local vineyards. The trip concluded with a gourmet dinner at the Winery Restaurant. The trip was enjoyed by everyone. Good company, beautiful weather, and good food. 8
