1 Coming Up **Monthly Club Meeting, Clubrooms 9 th August 2018 This month s guest speaker will be Steve Watts from Country Health Care. **Swanpool SCRAP Art Festival Sunday 12 th August and Wednesday 15 th August 2018 That s right, two dates; one for the workers and one for the coffee addicts. While they don t have the Bald Archies this year, the Swanpool Community have taken the initiative and developed their own art prize who knows; it may become the Archibald Prize of Recycled Art! Let s support them and have a good day out. More details about meals at the meeting. While we have the August meeting before then, we will need to book meals before the end of this month. Sunday 12 th August: am - meet at the Benalla Art Gallery Café for coffee to get into the right frame of mind. I will leave from the Shepparton East Store at 9.30 am if you prefer to travel in company midday Swanpool Cinema for the SCRAP exhibition and lunch. Please complete your lunch order at the meeting, if you haven t already. Lunch you have a choice of: Light lunch, $12 vegetable soup, country sausage roll or loaded baked potato, OR Full lunch, $17 Beef burgundy casserole, Chicken and leek pot pie or Winter frittata. Wednesday 15 th August: am - meet at the Swanpool Cinema for morning tea. I will leave from the Shepparton East Store at 9.30 am if you prefer to travel in company. Morning tea, $6 ($8 for barista coffee), including slices or scones. After morning tea and viewing the SCRAP exhibition, we leave at pm for the Tatong Tavern for lunch. Tatong is perhaps 15 min away. I need numbers and lunch preferences at the meeting. 12 th Cobram Swap Meet and Shannons All Wheels Show Sunday 12 th August 2018 Hosted by the Rotary Club of Cobram and held at the Cobram Showgrounds. Lots of entertainment and market stalls. Entry $5 from 7am, U/17 free. Information from Adrian **Saturday Social Day, Clubrooms 18 th August 2018 Our next Saturday Social Day will be held on 18 th August, 2018 at the clubrooms. Sandra Pozzobon Rob Roy Hill Climb, Smiths Gully Sunday 19 th August 2018 This event is run by the Vintage Sports Car Club at Clintons Rd, Christmas Hills, about 10km west from Yarra Glen. Practice runs start at 10am and competition starts at 11:30am. There is full catering by the VSCC and entry is $15/car. Details at Page 6

2 Federation Picnic, Marong 26 th August 2018 Organised by the Federation of Veteran, Vintage & Classic Vehicle Clubs Inc. This event showcases over 700 vehicles ranging from veteran to late classic; plenty of entertainment; always a great day out! Note: We need to be there by 10.00am (or we won t be allowed in!) and have to stay until 2.30pm, as part of the Federation s insurance requirements. Take your Journal with you, to confirm that you are a member of the Federation (or you won t get your car in!). For those wishing to travel from Shepparton in company, we will depart from Midland Hwy Mooroopna, just past the O Brien Street lights (the first lights coming from Shepparton), at 8.00am. People travelling from Kyabram may wish to meet up with us at Elmore at the rest area/miniature railway at about 9.00am. **Ladies Lunch, Shepparton Friday 31 st August 2018 Our next lunch will be held on 31 st August at the RSL Club from onwards. Cheers, Mary Apostol Veteran Car Club Pre-1905 Pioneers Rally, Ballarat 1 st -2 nd September 2018 This is the first rally run specifically for these very old cars and should be a real treat for lovers of Veteran cars. Each day s run will be about 45km so shouldn t be too stressful for the vehicles. Hopefully it becomes an annual event. More details from Greg Smith at schacht09@bigpond.com or or from Heritage Rally and Market Day, Emerald Bank Sunday 2 nd September 2018 Our club always has a good attendance at this event, and it s always a good show. On show will be classic cars of all sorts (up to 1960), trucks, tractors, motorcycles, modified cars and other machinery. There s also an antique aircraft fly-in at the aerodrome, with a shuttle bus to take you there and back. **Monthly Club Meeting, Clubrooms 6 th September 2018 The September meeting will be held a week early, so that it is before the Swap Meet. Guest speakers will be Ms Rebecca McAllister and Mrs Tracy Russell from the Hume Regional Integrated Cancer Service (Hume RICS). The ladies will speak on : Available services and resources, helpful tips at different stages, how and where to find reliable information. Particularly interesting to our ladies. Shepparton Motor Museum Gala Dinner 7 pm Friday 7 th September 2018 This is at The Woolshed at Emerald Bank black tie, $125. This will get us into the mood for the Swap weekend. It would be good to have a table from the Club? **Shepparton Swap Meet, Showgrounds 9 th September 2018 VACC Centennial Cavalcade, to Bendigo 22 nd September 2018 The Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce is holding a Centennial Cavalcade from Melbourne to Bendigo (where VACC started) on 22 nd September They will feature 100 special vehicles, one from each year 1918 to Do we have any vehicles that might be suitable? 3 Wangaratta VVCV Club Spring Rally, Chiltern 22 nd -23 rd September 2018 This the Wangaratta Club s annual rally. Registration is at the Vine Hotel (Wangaratta) on Friday night or Saturday morning. They travel to Chiltern via Beechworth to visit Gordon Stevens Motor Museum, and then the Vine Hotel in Chiltern. Dinner is at the Vine Hotel. It sounds good see me for details. **Big Day Out in a Little Town, Katamatite 23 rd September 2018 A great family day with lots to see and do. Vintage cars, tractors, motorbikes, market stalls, art and craft exhibits, kids activities. 9am-4pm at the Recreation Reserve. Details Rob Two weeks after the Swap, we might be ready for a run? Being relatively close, it is a good chance to get some of the oldies out the vintage and veterans. OK, it is a while since I had the Model A out, so I had better set an example? Details at the September meeting. Bay to Birdwood Run, Adelaide Sunday 30 th September 2018 This year s run is open to all vehicles manufactured prior to 1960 and is limited to 1750 vehicles. The run starts at Glenelg and winds through the city to end up at the National Motor Museum at Birdwood. This year there is a second starting point to give slower vehicles a shorter distance to travel, but who d want to start anywhere else? All the details are at Euroa Show and Shine Sunday 7 th October 2018 This is arguably the best one-day show in the country. Lock it in your diary now. Motorclassica, Melbourne Exhibition Buildings 12 th -14 th October 2018 Australia s premier concours délegance is on again this year and our members can purchase tickets on-line for a reduced price. Edward River Rally, Deniliquin 12 th -14 th October 2018 This is Deniliquin District VVCC annual rally. It is based in Deni, visiting several venues in the town and Conargo and Mathoura. It sounds good I have details. Federation Tour, Yarram 13 th -20 th October 2018 This open rally will tour the beautiful countryside including the Tarra / Bulga National Park. Also visiting the Maffra Car Museum, East Sale RAAF Base and many other points of interest. Details are available at Numurkah Show Wednesday 24 th October 2018 Another regular feature in our calendar put it in your diary. East Gippsland Gallop, Bairnsdale 2 nd -6 th November (Melbourne Cup) 2018 This year it s East Gippsland s turn at what we call the Rally of the Valley. Entry forms will be in the Journal when we receive them. But put it in your diary now. Accommodation will be hard to find, so get in early. Register your interest with the Rally Director, PO Box 964, Bairnsdale **Trydell Museum, Upper Beaconsfield 17 th -18 th November 2018 We have a booking as a Club to attend this excellent museum (boy s car stuff and girl s stuff!) on Sunday 18 th November the earliest booking available. We need to have up to three hours there, and it takes three hours drive each way to get there. So we need to do it as an overnight trip down on Saturday, back Sunday afternoon. Pencil it in now. I will be asking for an indication of who will be going at the meeting. Federation Golden Oldies Tour 31 st March-7 th April 2019 Starting at the Wunghnu Picnic, visiting Beechworth, Bright and places in between, finishing in Wangaratta.
