7 Research in India According to the latest survey by Springer Nature, India ranked 2 nd amongst the countries with highest increase in contribution to high-quality scientific research. Indian institutions register itself among top 100 highest performers across the globe. This list includes : - CSIR - IISER - IISc - IITs and NITs 40 % of Indian-born researchers work overseas (as per 2011 estimates) - the largest diaspora of any of the 16 countries in a survey of researchers by Nature. 9 The Journey so far ICF-6,1984 New Delhi Organized by 2 labs - NAL and DMRL Only New Delhi and Mumbai were the viable options Due to Limited Air Connectivity Premier Institutes - 5 IITs ICF-16, Bangalore Over 30 organizations including a dedicated professional society 6 major cities (Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai) are considered as potential venues for ICF India has well connected flight networks 23 IITs and 31 NITs ICF-6 can be judged to be an outstanding human and scientific success with some 40 countries participating and over 400 research papers of all types in the major archival set of Proceedings published here as six volumes. These volumes are an enduring tribute to the dedication of India to Science and Technology of the highest standards and indeed, to the stability and technological progress of the country over the past 20 years.
