2 Executive Summary The concept of Vibrant Gujarat as a business summit was initiated by the Government of Gujarat in 2003 under the leadership of the present Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narandra Modi. The event in the years so far had played a very crucial and contributing role in developing the overall economy of Gujarat, attracting FDIs and steering manufacturing grown in multiple sectors. Today, the event has matured itself to a global business summit with the participation from many foreign government representatives and much more from the international business organisations. Gujarat is a Global Business Hub today, and the Vibrant Gujarat Summit is truly a global business event. The brand Vibrant Gujarat is an ideal platform for brainstorming on agendas of global socio-economic development, in addition to being a facilitator for knowledge sharing and forging effective partnerships. Considering the importance of 9 th Vibrant Gujarat Global Investment Summit on the 18 th -20 th January 2019, ( the Netherlands, for the 3 rd time in a row will be participating in it as a Partner Country. The Dutch delegation will be led by senior member of the Rutte Cabinet, Mr. Menno Snel, State Secretary, Ministry of Finance of the Netherlands. Focus sectors for the Netherlands in this year s event would be: Ports & Logistics/Supply Chain, Agro-food; Horticulture; Chemicals; Textile; Renewable Energy; Water, High Tech & Automotive. For the first time the summit will also provide a platform to attractive potential investors interested in Investing in the Netherlands. The objective is to connect, at least, 40 Dutch companies with Gujarat/Indian companies from the above-mentioned sectors and more, connecting Dutch Knowledge Institutions to collaborate with Indian Universities and other knowledge seeking organizations; and promote Netherlands as an investment destination of choice.the Netherlands Business Support office (NBSO) in Ahmedabad will the coordinating office for the Dutch participation in this event. The support to be provided by the NBSO Ahmedabad includes liaison and coordination to organize business-to-business meetings/matchmakings with Indian companies as well as the Indian government/government agencies, organizing the set-up of a Holland Pavilion for all participating companies and local support with logistics, hotels etc. Netherlands as a partner country will also be organizing a Country Seminar, where all the participating Dutch companies would be able to talk and showcase their products and services to a relevant Indian audience. The attendees to this seminar are either by invitation or by permission only so as to get a targeted audience. Both the Government of Gujarat and the NBSO would be advertising for this event through our respective channels. From experience of the previous two times of the Netherlands participating in this event as a partner country, we have very positive outcomes of signing multiple MoUs which eventually paved way for Dutch companies to open and initiate new business ventures in India or in the state of Gujarat. This is an attractive opportunity for the Dutch companies to establish new business contacts with Indian companies, educational organisations, various government departments, and potential Indian investors in the Netherlands. 2

3 Highlights The 8 th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, held in January 2017, witnessed participation from 25,000+ delegates from 100+ countries, including 4 Heads of States, Nobel Laureates, Captains of global industry and Thought Leaders. Today it has been evolved to provide a forum for discussion on global, National and State-level agenda with a sharp focus on comprehensive economic development for a New India. This is one of the biggest State sponsored business summits in India expecting thousands of visitors and participants. This Summit will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, which will attract international media. At present, the confirmed partner countries to this event are: France, Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Thailand and Japan. Canada, Australia, UK and USA are likely to send their representatives. Many Investment Intentions would be signed followed by signing of Strategic Partnerships in the areas of Technology transfer, R&D, Education etc. during the summit. Objectives As the Netherlands has signed to be a partner country with the upcoming VG 2019, the NBSO s goal is to identify interested Dutch companies that will participate in the event. The summit is the perfect platform for new Indo-Dutch collaborations and to showcase the existing opportunities for cooperation between the two countries. Prime focus will include the key sectors: Ports & Logistics/Supply Chain, Agro-food; Horticulture; Chemicals; Textile; Renewable Energy; Water, High Tech & Automotive and Investing in the Netherlands. Following will be actively pursued: Increase presence of Indo-Dutch companies in Gujarat by facilitating B2B meetings between Indian and Dutch companies Showcase the expertise of the Netherlands to the State of Gujarat and brand the Netherlands as the country of your choice Make Dutch companies aware of the business opportunities in Gujarat/India Goal Targets to be achieved during this mission: Connect 40 Dutch companies with Gujarat/Indian companies from within the focus sectors Facilitate at least2 Dutch companies to start their businesses in India Establish relationship with at least 2 Dutch Knowledge Institutions with projects and opportunities in India Showcase the Dutch expertise to the relevant Gujarat stakeholders and brand the Netherlands in Gujarat: Holland Branding 3

4 Focus Sectors Dutch companies from the following focus sectors will be invited: Ports & Logistics/ SCM Textile Pharma & Healthcare Manufacture Agro-Food & Processing Water & Urban Devt Investing in The Netherlands Vibrant Gujarat 2019 ICT & Design These sectors namely have the greatest potential for collaborating between Indian and Dutch companies in the State Gujarat. 4

Land related topic to be covered too. Networking Dinner to be attended by relevant Indian companies and Government of Gujarat Officials, representatives of Dutch companies already in India and all Dutch citizens in and around. Exhibition in Holland Pavilion o 100 sqm of space will be made available for the visiting Dutch companies to showcase their products and services o Holland Pavilion will also have space for B2B Country Seminar: the Netherlands o To be opened by Dutch Leader of Delegtion Mr. Menno Snel, State Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Sr. Minister from the Government of Gujarat o Presentation of their products and services by each visiting Dutch company o Targeted Audience from Indian companies and relevant government officials o NBSO to print sector specific leaflets for distribution and can highlight the participating companies based on expertise o Possibility to sign MoUs during the country seminar B2B meetings o NBSO will facilitate/organize matchmaking/b2b meetings for all visiting Dutch companies/organization based on their needs o Meetings possible to be organized with private companies as well as government officials o B2B possible on 17 th Jan (in the morning) and th Jan (whole days) o NBSO can organize offsite visits to potential Indian partner s locations as follow-up 5
