10 8 Dear Rotary Zone 21b and 27 District Governors, District Governors Elect and District Governors-Nominee: On behalf of our Zone trainers, coordinators and Rotary International staff, Pam and I would like to personally welcome you and your spouse/partner/ guest to and Rotary International Headquarters! As you can imagine, cancelling our Rotary Institute 2017 was more than a difficult decision after many lengthy conversations with Rotary International President Ian Riseley, Rotary International President-Elect Barry Rassin and senior staff members of Rotary International. Pam and I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that you incurred and we truly regret that you, your spouse/partner/guest and members of your district did not get to enjoy the incredible program that had been arranged by the over 100 Rotary Institute 2017 volunteers. Pam s and my heartfelt thoughts and prayers are still with all of the individuals and families in the impacted area. Despite the challenges we were given, as Rotarians we must move on. With the amazing assistance from the staff of Rotary International, and your Zone 21b and 27 Rotary Institute 2017 facilitators and coordinators, we have brought a very simplified version of our originally planned event to Rotary International Headquarters. This new location will allow you and your spouse/partner/guest to see Rotary and meet senior staff members of Rotary International, which many Rotarians will never have the opportunity to do. On Thursday night, the District Governors-Elect and District Governors-Nominee will enjoy dinner at the Rotarian owned Chef s Station. This local upscale & quirky spot in a train station serves impeccable food, has an exquisite wine list, with quality service and a cozy, comfortable ambience. Our speaker that night will be Rotary International President-Elect Barry Rassin. Friday night, our District Governors will be joining all of us at another Evanston favorite, Terra and Vine known for offering casual, rustic mediterranean fare with an italian emphasis, showcasing the region s bright, bold flavors and seasonal ingredients. Our speaker that night will be Rotary International Director-Elect Larry Dimmitt. On Saturday night, we will have our traditional District Governor-Elect Presentation Dinner in the elegant setting of the North Shore s newest and most luxurious building, The Crystal Ballroom, completely restored in 2014 to its original glory from the roaring 1920 s. Our speaker that night will be Rotary International General Secretary John Hewko. I must say it has been a true honor and privilege to serve with this marvelous group of Rotary staff members and your Zone 21b and 27 Rotary Institute 2017 facilitators and coordinators who came together to be of service to the finest service organization in the world!
