1 60 th Annual Convention Welcome to the Gaia Hotel and Spa in beautiful Anderson, California. This is the carefully chosen site for the District 4-C1 60 th Annual Convention. The Gaia staff and the convention committee have worked very hard to make this pirate-themed weekend an event you will enjoy. Each morning the hotel provides a full breakfast for registered guests. Friday morning begins with our annual golf tournament, and our third annual Walk-A-Thon benefiting projects of the District 4-C1 Health Foundation. Early in the afternoon our convention will officially begin, followed by hospitality and the incredible Food Fair. The evening entertainment will feature rousing games of black jack and some easy listening music. With a theme of pirates, it s bound to be a not to be missed kind of evening! Be sure to bring your camera! On Saturday, the parade of club banners will be followed by a business session, guest speakers and a special lunch including an address from International Director Pat Vannett. The afternoon will bring the District Student Speaker Contest and a chance to watch our own District Governor Marianne Keesee walk the plank! Saturday evening will begin with a cocktail party and will move on to the Governor s Banquet, presentation of some awards, a talent show by our very own clubs and will end with fresh popcorn in the Hospitality House. Sunday morning will get underway with a memorial service and our annual election. The final Convention session will culminate with announcement of election results and a raffle. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our entire convention committee for their hard work and effort. It s no easy task to produce a convention and it requires many hours of volunteer work. On behalf of District 4-C1, I invite you to have a great time, greet old friends and make new ones. I m happy to share this weekend with you. Let the fun begin. Arrrrr!
