2 Infrastructure professionals inspired by theme Forging Ahead The infrastructure sector is - both literally and figuratively - characterized by force. A properly functioning infrastructure is crucial for both the Dutch economy and Dutch society. It is therefore important that this sector keeps developing. In 2015, the InfraTech theme was Forging ahead and the focus was on joining forces and creative thinking. This has led to a surprising and very successful edition of InfraTech. Mrs Melanie Schultz van Haegen, Minister of Infrastructure and Environment: This exhibition shows the best, the Netherlands have to offer on civil engineering. THEME CLASSIFICATION EXHIBITION FLOOR The exhibition floor of InfraTech 2015 was sub-divided into 4 themes: Infrastructure, Public Space & Mobility, Water, Sewerage Sewerage A new theme in 2015 SPECIAL AREAS InfraTech 2015 was characterized by special areas for several occupational and interest groups. You get to talk to your contacts again, find out what goes on in the sector, how the market currently works, find out about the opportunities and threats, and simply have nice conversations as well. During InfraTech, a free service developed by Ahoy Rotterdam to increase the number of valuable encounters during exhibitions was used for the first time: Ahoy Connect. This professional networking app enabled both exhibitors and visitors to get into contact with each other on the basis of a personal profile prior to the exhibition. The web app initiative has been received as positive. Election of most powerful person in the infrastructure sector Within the framework of Forging ahead, InfraTech has been able to put some powerful people from the infrastructure sector in the limelight. Out of six nominees, Karin Sluis, General Manager of Witteveen+Bos won the award for Most powerful person in the infrastructure sector with a large majority of 1,104 votes. Extensive knowledge programme 17% of the visitors come to InfraTech because of the knowledge programme but they also visit the exhibition. The programme with over 150 knowledge sessions included: Market days from Rijkswaterstaat [Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management] and the municipality of Rotterdam CROW knowledge sessions on areas such as VISI, RAW, IMBOR, asset management and an Infrastructure debate WIJ with an innovative programme, put together in a co-creation process Sewerage theatre with lectures organized by IKT Nederland Specialist road-construction department of Bouwend Nederland [Association of Dutch construction and infrastructure companies] Iman Koster, CROW: As a strategic partner, CROW is proud of InfraTech. 6 SECOND EDITION OF INFRATECH GERMANY A second edition of InfraTech Germany will take place from 13 to 15 January 2016 in Messe Essen, North Rhine- Westphalia. This infrastructure exhibition will take place simultaneously with the DEUBAUKOM, DCONex and acqua alta exhibitions. Building blocks for renewal is the main exhibition theme of InfraTech Germany.
