This year s conference theme is EMPOWERING GROWTH, and two half-day conference sessions will examine and discuss: Perspectives on global and local stainless steel market direction, plus analyses Strategy and tactics for market penetration Managing business performance to drive productivity, profitability and growth Trends, challenges and opportunities, with case studies focusing on the commercial and architectural sector PacRim Stainless 2016 also offers an extensive social program with both nights of the conference kicking off with a Happy Hour prior to a social dinner. Our Wednesday night Gala Dinner is without doubt the social highlight of PacRim Stainless and will provide excellent opportunities for networking and fun. ASSDA will host its annual 2-ball Golf Ambrose at the Emerald Lakes Golf Course, with players vying for the Barry Durrant Memorial Trophy. 3 PacRim Stainless 2016 offers an exceptional lineup of speakers: Clive Whittington is Managing Director of C.M. Whittington & Associates Ltd. Hong Kong, and for the past 15 years his focus has been on sales development and technical service of primary nickel in Asia and ANZ. With Hong Kong partners, he is daily involved in LME hedging, warehousing, physical delivery, metallurgical service, market intelligence and commercial sales support. Clive also conducts original R&D, publishes peer-viewed papers and delivers seminars on the better use of nickel in end-use applications. Prior to his own companies, he worked for Alcoa Australia and Inco Australasia, where he was responsible for product development, application engineering and technical service of wrought products of aluminium alloys, austenitic stainless steel, high nickel alloys and surface finishing. Jason Furness is the CEO of Manufacturship, an agile consulting practice that mentors, trains and advises senior and emerging leaders in production-based businesses to create rapid and sustainable performance improvements. Jason s driving passion is to see organisations execute projects and production on or ahead of time to become world-class manufacturers. He is co-author of the recently released book Manufacturing Money - How CEOs rapidly lift profits in manufacturing. Steve Scott is the Managing Director of Rivet Engineering in New Zealand, where is he leads a talented team of fabricators and designers that stretches typical fabrication ideas and techniques. Joining the PacRim stage to share his experience in the design and fabrication of the world-renowned Len Lye Centre in New Plymouth, Scott was heavily involved in the striking architectural facade featuring 32 tonnes of 316L stainless steel. Scott is currently a Board Member of the New Zealand Stainless Steel Development Association (NZSSDA). Peter Munckton is the Chief Economist and Head of Market Strategy at the Bank of Queensland. He has worked at the Federal Treasury in Canberra, as well as in senior economics roles at Bankers Trust and the CBA. He also has co-authored reports on the Australian and Chinese financial systems that gained significant domestic and international media attention. Cameron Boon is Prinicipal of Boon Engineering Requirements where his passion is to assist clients in establishing comprehensive and detailed sets of requirements at the front end of projects, so that projects can proceed with reduced risk and increased opportunity. Cameron is an engineer by trade with 25 years experience in project, design and quality management in a diverse range of industries from manufacturing to capital works. Barney Collins is an architect who joined EJE in 1981, became Associate in 1983 and a Director of EJE Group in He has wide experience in all fields of architecture and now specialises in urban design, master planning and heritage conservation as well as residential and resort type accommodation. Barney has travelled to Great Britain to study the impact of inner city redevelopment and their relationship with historically significant precincts, and continued his travels in Europe studying the design of religious buildings. Barney s expertise allowed him the opportunity to head the team commissioned to restore Newcastle s Christchurch Cathedral after it suffered considerable damage in the earthquake of Trent Mackenzie is ASSDA s recently appointed General Manager. He is a metallurgist of 40+ years standing with 37 years in the Corrosion Resistant Alloys (CRAs) field in Australia, SE Asia, Middle East and North Africa, and has been invoved in the specification and supply of CRAs. Trent s early experience was with Repco Engine Parts and West Footscray Engineering as a metallurgist, followed by time in various sales, marketing and technical positions with Sandvik (Vulcan Steel), Axel Johnson AB (Outokumpu), TPS Alloys, Inco Alloys (Special Metals), High Performance Metals, Allegheny Technologies (ATI) and RJ Technical Resources.
