Boy Scout Merit Badge Rifle Shooting (Option B), Metalwork ( Smith Requirement), Salesmanship (1 a-b, 2 a-d, 3,4, 6, a 1-4, 7 a-b) Venture Scout Elective Shooting Sports Arrow of Light Adventure Opportunities: o Scouting Adventure (Arrow of Light Requirement) Several requirements can be worked on with collaboration of the Scoutmaster. Scout Masters should know what is in this new Adventure! Arrow of Light (2 nd year Webelos) at Camporees (5 th grade only) Having Arrow of Light (formerly 2 nd year WEBELOS) at camporee is an excellent way to help them get excited about Boy Scouts, however, the Cub Scout Leaders need to make sure the Camporee is within the ability of the Arrow of Light Scout, and to make sure the Arrow of Light is attached to a Scouting Unit. Tiger, Wolf, and Bear rank Cub Scouts should not attend Camporees. When Arrow of Light attendance at Camporees is well planned and the preparation steps are followed, it can be a really exciting event. When a Scout isn t yet ready for the experience, or prepared and connected to a Scout unit, it can have the unfortunate consequence that the boy doesn t want to stay in Scouts. For this reason, only Second Year (5 th Grade) Cub Scouts are invited to Camporee. For this Camporee, Cub Masters/Den Leaders should follow this procedure: 1. Registration a. Arrow of Light Scouts must be registered through a Boy Scout Unit. b. Payment for Camporee is to the Boy Scout Unit. The Boy Scout unit will pay for the WEBELOS at camporee.
11 Event Date: Sep 14-16, c. Cost for Arrow of Light Scouts is $5.00, and Parents is $5.00 d. Scout Masters Please contact the Arrow of Light Den Leader (s) and invite them to attend with your Troop! Let them know any dates the Arrow of Light should attend Troop meetings related to camporee preparation. 2. Preparation a. Arrow of Light Cub Scouts can participate in everything BUT canoeing. 3. Supervision a. Arrow of Light Cub Scouts must camp with a Scout Unit. The Cub Master/Den Leader should connect with the Scout Master well in advance and work out preparation. b. Arrow of Light Cub Scouts must have a PARENT (or legal guardian) along on the campout. They cannot just go by themselves with the troop. Any exception to this must be cleared through the Camping Chair Bill Otto.
12 Event Date: Sep 14-16, Guests (Camporees are always RECRUITING EVENTS) Guests are encouraged at this Camporee. Any youth not with a unit who wants to come to the Camporee will be connected to a unit. Whether you bring a guest, or are connected to a guest via the Scout office, please make sure the guest is made to feel welcome and that this is a positive introduction to Scouting. Follow-up with application information and encourage them to join scouting as part of your unit! Guests are only $5, the scout assigned as primary host is $5 as well.
