3 WELCOME Webelos Trail to Eagle Welcome to the Inaugural Webelos Trail to Eagle a revamped version of Web-O- Ree. Come join other Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Crews and Ships as we prepare them for their Trail to Eagle Scout. Webelos Trail to Eagle is for Webelos to learn what Boy Scouting is all about, while meeting and interacting with Troops in preparation to cross over into Boy Scouts. The overall goal of this event is exposing Webelos to activities using the Patrol Method while placing emphasis on the parent's role in a Boy Scout Troop environment. We include a wide variety of presentations encompassing many points of the Webelos requirements counting toward Webelos and Arrow of Light rank advancement. All Webelos and Scout Troops are encouraged to attend! This activity is being planned to inform, educate, recruit and create experiences that will long be remembered. This is a formal Scout Activity with 2 overnight stays at McGimsey Scout Park so all rules, regulations, and B.S.A. Policies & Procedures will be in full effect and enforced. 4 Calling All Female Webelos Scouts!! For any Arrow of Light Webelos Female Scouts out there! We would love to see your dens in attendance. We plan to have a Girls in Scouting Information Tent to talk to the girl troop scouts and leaders, ask questions, and register your interest in joining a girls troop in the Alamo Area Council. Rest assured that Alamo Area Council already has girl troops ready to go come February 2019 when registration goes live. Some of which have already had an orientation course at McGimsey Scout Park and camped overnight. Some even backpacked their way to the campsite! Wow! REGISTRATION Registration ahead of the event is required of all participants, to help make sure that we plan for all the logistics that go into an activity of this magnitude. We are hoping to pack the park as we kick off this inaugural event! Please see below for registration information. Webelos Scouts & Parents All Webelos Scouts and their parents/ leaders should register and pay online through the Alamo Area Council event registration system. Please click on this link to register: WebelosTrail2Eagle2018 The online registration fee is $15 per person (youth or adult) and includes event participation and a cracker barrel (after campfire snacks) and a Webelos Trail to Eagle Patch for every scout. Boy Scout Troops or other Units You will need to register your participation via the Troop Help through the Alamo Area Council event registration system. 5 BE PREPARED Webelos Trail to Eagle will be a rain-or-shine event so please come prepared with weather-appropriate clothing, sun protection and insect repellent. More detailed information is included. Prior to Arrival ALWAYS HAVE YOUR WATER BOTTLE FOR HYDRATION! To help expedite check-in during arrival it is strongly encouraged that the group arrive all at one time and designate ONE parent or leader that will check-in your Den/Pack and offload ALL camping equipment and gear at the assigned campsite and attend the Leader Orientation at 9:00PM. **Please note that only ONE trip to the campsite in a designated vehicle to offload equipment & gear** If there are any physical limitations or medical needs (E.g.: CPAP machine), please brianread1976@me.com so that accommodations can be made. The BSA requires all adult participants to have completed Youth Protection Training (YPT) and have their current training certificate or proof with them at all times. Each Pack must have the required completed Health Form A&B for each participating Scout and Adult. Webelos will be camping overnight in Campsites 1-8 behind the Dining Hall. See the link for an aerial view: Webelos Dens/Packs by Pack Number and WILL BE camping together but may be grouped with participating smaller Packs numbers. Packs are responsible for ALL meals Friday PM - Sunday AM. Please ensure that you have meal planned accordingly. Please be sure to bring a 5 gallon dispenser for drinking water. Water can be refilled on request. Please exercise Leave No Trace and Outdoor Ethic practices with fire, when cooking, and using campsites and trails. While some Cub Scout events are sibling-friendly, Webelos Trail to Eagle is only for Webelos Scouts and their parents/ leaders and is not really appropriate for siblings. Thank you for your understanding. Field Uniforms are strongly encouraged for Flag Ceremonies, Campfire and interfaith Worship Service. Activity Uniforms are encouraged during Saturday Troop/Unit Demonstrations. What to Bring Included is a simple list to prepare for the weekend. It is a guideline..you DO NOT have to bring everything listed. 6 What to Expect Upon arrival, please enter in the Cub Country Gate on Wedgewood Dr. Parking will be in the grassy field the left. There will be camp hosts upon entering property to assist with parking in the open field to the left. Registration will open for check-in at 5:30PM and proceed until 8:45PM in the dining hall. Please arrive as early as possible in an effort to get your equipment and camp set-up before sunset. See the included itinerary for a more detailed look at the weekend. Please remember that only 1 designated leader between this registration time should check-in the Dens/Packs and also drive the equipment to assigned campsite. **All individuals arriving after 8:45 either already checked-in or not must walk-in their gear to the campsites.** It is strongly encouraged that the designated point person for each pack attends the Leader Orientation Meeting at 9:00PM on Friday in the Dining Hall. On Saturday each participating Troop/Unit will demonstrate or teach an activity or skill to the Webelos while the adults have an opportunity to visit with the youth and adult leadership of each Troop/Unit. This event will have Troops/Unit demonstrations from all around the Alamo Area Council so be sure to ask questions. I.e.: when/where/time the unit meets weekly, camping. Take the free-time on Saturday to visit or re-visit with the Troop/Units of most interest.
