1 Leaders Guide TWO WEEKENDS, TWICE THE FUN!! Register your unit and/or scouts for the weekend that makes the most sense for your schedule. Spook-O-Ree, a Halloween event, will feature multiple events, and traditional scout activities. We hope hundreds of scouts and their families will come out to CBH and participate in themed events and games. Come out to participate in a Carnival Extravaganza which includes 25 events/activities throughout the day. Some events planned include: BB, Archery, Slingshots, Handi Crafts, Carnival Games, fun house, and much, much more. The evening will be packed with a Haunted Hike, Trick-or-Treating, and of course a Spooky Campfire. If you are ready for FUN! FUN! FUN! Then this event is for you.

2 Disclaimer Understand that this is a working document, and plans are still in progress. Games/activities may change based on registration numbers/budget and availability of materials and supplies. The agenda/schedule may also be modified to make sure that enough time is given to all for the events. This guide is designed to give you an idea of what will be going on at the Cub-O-Ree. This will also give you the information that you need to plan and give information to your pack. Registration There are two ways to register. You may either register by paper and deliver it to council, or online at centralgeorgiacouncil.org. Register early! This event has a maximum capacity, so please register early. Once capacity has been reached, registration will be closed and a waiting list will be started for those interested. Please send registration forms to April at Council. Thank you for your help. This allows us to make sure enough materials and supplies can be purchased and prepared. *Fees include: camping, programs, and a patch for every scout and sibling. Cost: Before October 5th After October 5th Scouts $18 $25 Siblings $18 $25 s $5 $10 Shirts available Yes No WHO CAN COME? This is a Family Friendly event, so Moms, Dads, and Siblings are ENCOURAGED to attend. SATURDAY ONLY PARTICIPATION Saturday Only Participants are asked to check-in at CBH dining hall/camp Office Saturday Morning by 8:30 a.m., and are asked to write SAT ONLY on Registration Forms.(NOTE: Staff are at Flag Ceremony from 8:30-9:00) Please remember no meals are provided, but the pavilion at parking lot will be reserved for SAT ONLY participants to prepare, and eat meals. This year we are offering a limited number of Lunch Sacks. These can be PRE-ORDERED only on registration form, and will be offered on a first come, first serve basis. Only 150 Lunch Sacks will be available. Lunches will be $5 per meal, and lunch tickets will be delivered upon check-in. Cancellations All cancellations made by October 5th will receive a full refund. Cancellations after 5 p.m. on October 5th do not qualify for a refund; CUB-O-Ree is a rain or shine event.

3 T-Shirts/ CBH Fleece JAckets Shirts are available for Pre-Order only, prior to October 5 th. Shirts are $10.00 each ($2 additional for XXL or larger). Shirts will not be available for Pre-Order after October 5 th. Extra Shirts will be limited and available on a first come, first serve basis at the CBH Trading Post. After many requests we are also setting up a pre-order for CBH FLeece Jackets, these are by Pre-order and more information can be found at the end of the leaders guide. Fleece Jackets are $25. Before Arriving at Camp *Packs are responsible for ensuring that they have appropriately trained Leaders, and a First Aid Kit. *Each Pack is responsible for ensuring that scouts have current Medical Forms A&B. The form is to be kept on site at time of campout. *Meals are not included and are the responsibility of the Packs. *Campsite Assignments will be made upon arrival at Check-in. Please be prepared to set-up Jamboree Style. *Please also understand, that more than one unit may be assigned to a campsite. *Check-in is held 7:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday Night, and 8a- 8:30a on Saturday Morning at CBH DINING HALL. (No vehicles in camp on Saturday) *Participants who do not wish to camp overnight, but want to come Saturday are allowed. Arriving at Camp WE ARE EXPECTING A LARGE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS! Units may begin arriving at camp at 2 p.m. Due to the number of attendees and persons that will be in camp at the same time on Arrival day, we are asking that each Pack choose ONE VEHICLE WITH TRAILER to transport PACK gear and equipment to the campsite. This vehicle will receive a Camp Permit/Campsite Assignment at the Pavilion located at the parking lot. This vehicle MUST be returned to the parking lot by 10 p.m. ONLY ONE VEHICLE PER PACK MAY BE IN CAMP AT ONE TIME!! ALL other vehicles will be asked to park in camp parking lot, and transfer gear onto trailer traveling to their campsite. We encourage packs to make sure that they have all equipment/items needed as there will be no vehicles allowed in camp throughout the weekend. NO VEHICLES IN CAMP ON SATURDAY!! Trailers may remain in campsite, provided they are parked and blocked safely. We understand that everyone may not arrive at camp at the same time. However, only ONE vehicle with trailer, per pack, will be allowed to drive to campsite on Friday evening. Pack Leaders please help us, by communicating with your participants the move-in policy.

4 Units camping on the lakeside will receive notification from the camp director with additional move-in information. Campsite Assignments/Arrival of Scouts and Families Campsite Assignments are made based on unit/campsite size. Campsite assignments generally go out the weekend before arrival at camp. Please make sure that your Pack s Participant's know their Pack number, POC s Contact Information, Understand Move-in Procedures, and Campsite assignment. A camp map is included for you to pass out to your participants upon arrival. Check-in/Leaders Meeting After stowing gear and setting up camp, Pack Leaders may check-in at CBH Dining hall beginning at 7:30 p.m. to receive Maps, Agendas, Patches, T-shirts, and other important information. *Important Leaders Meeting will be held at 8:45 pm, Friday of the event. All Packs are asked to have a representative to receive important information. Meals Meals will not be provided by Camp. Packs are responsible for their own food and cooking equipment. Activities on Saturday and Sunday morning begin at 9 am, and lunch and dinner breaks will be 2 hours each to allow for cooking and clean-up. This year we are offering a limited number of Lunch Sacks. Port-o-potties As requested by some units, this year we are offering Packs to opportunity to order a port-o-pottie for their campsite at a cost of $80. Please mark number of Port-o-potties on registration form, and include payment with registration. Port-opotties can only be ordered prior to Oct 5 th. Flag Ceremonies We ask all scouts and leaders to wear their Class A uniforms to the morning and evening Flag Ceremonies. Packs are also encouraged to bring their pack Flags with stands to post at the Parade Field. 5 Trash Trash can be deposited in the dumpster beside the Dining Hall. Please make sure that all Trash is removed from Campsite. Trading Post The trading Post will be open at Camp, all day. We will have new Camp Ben Hawkins Gear. Bring some Pocket Money. CBH BRAND We are excited to announce that we have a CBH BRAND. Bring items to be branded. Volunteers We will have lots of Boy Scout, Venture Crew,, and Girl Scout Volunteers. Without their help an event such as this would not be possible. Please, when you see these scouts, girls, and adults thank them for their help and service. If your pack has s who would like to volunteer to lend a helping hand, please have them see Laura at the CBH dining hall to see where hands might be needed, or to become official staff, contact laura.mixon@cox.net. Campfire Saturday night s Campfire will be filled with skits/songs presented by your scouts. Packs that wish to perform a skit, song, joke, etc. at the Campfire may try-out/sign-up at the camp office on Saturday. Please come prepared, we would like all packs to participate! Fishing If you would like to fish, please bring poles and bait. CBH is a catch and release fishing camp. Haunted Hike Disclaimer Camp Leaders have been planning and working on the Haunted Hike for years. Please remember that this is a haunted hike and it will be SCARY! If you believe that your child should not participate in the haunted hike, please do not participate in the haunted hike. Packs will be scheduled to depart on the Haunted Hike every 5-10 minutes. Please be prompt. Trick or Treating All scouts/siblings should consider bringing a bag or container to collect candy with during trick or treating. All Campers should bring their collection device to the Evening Flag, as Trick-or-Treating will

6 begin promptly at 8 p.m. Trick or Treating will be held all over camp, and a trick or treating sites will be listed on camp map. *Trick or Treating will be hosted by the Camp Staff, Camp Ranger, District Execs, Unit Commissioners, District Committee Members, FOS Representatives, PACK Committee Chairmen, etc. If you have leaders that would like to help hand out candy to Trick or Treaters, please have them contact Laura Mixon prior to event. Punch Cards Scouts/Siblings will be given a punch card to help guide them through all of the events and activities at camp. The object is not to do everything, but to allow the scouts to do the activities that they are interested in. Scouts may do activities more than once, but will only receive a prize at events once. For Example: A boy may choose to play Giant Twister again and again, but will only receive a prize one time. Range Activities Range Activities include BBs, Archery, and Sling Shots. These events will be scheduled. After a conversation with the range masters, we have decided that this year we are again scheduling ranks together for range events instead of by packs. This is because Tigers need more instruction regarding procedures and safety while Webelos need a speedy review of these items. If you have siblings of differing ranks, please take them to the event scheduled for the younger scout or partner up with another family in your pack. Tigers must have a parent with them at the range. Below is a tentative schedule for range activities. Tigers 9:15-10:45 Bears 10:45-12:15 Wolves 2:00-3:30 Webelos 3:30-5:00 **In order to provide all scouts with 1 ½ hours at the range, Bears are scheduled into the 2 hour lunchtime break. Sunday Service A Scout Is Reverent An Interfaith Service will be available for scouts and parents on Sunday morning. scouts are asked to wear their Class A uniforms. An offering for the World Friendship Fund will be collected and sent in representing Central Georgia Council. Through the World Friendship Fund, voluntary contributions of Scouts and leaders are transformed into cooperative projects that help Scouting associations in other countries to strengthen and extend their Scouting programs. 7 Clean-up Sunday All Packs are responsible for making sure there is no trash and/or debris left in their assigned campsite. Packs will also be assigned a Common Campsite Area to help us Leave No Trace. This will help Camp Planners leave camp in the same condition that we left it. Thank you for your assistance with this. We need staff: To help put on a great event, we need the help of Boy Scout troops and Venturing crews like yours. We are looking for Boy Scouts, Ventures, and adults to help staff these areas: We will do our best to place staff in the areas they would like to work, but to ensure the success of the event for our participants, staff will be assigned to areas based on need. What you get: Besides the opportunity to show kids a fun time, everyone participating on staff will receive an event staff t-shirt, this year s patch, and certificate of hours worked at event. Staff will also be provided all Saturday meals, and Sunday breakfast. Troops/Crews are encouraged to camp overnight in the CBH STAFF AREA near the parking lot. Please remember to bring your medical forms and log your service hours for this event. Requirements for staff: All staff should be at least Boy Scout age and responsible to an adult in attendance. The staff is asked bring a Scary Costume to participate in the Haunted Trail. Anyone participating on staff should be available during the entire time slot assigned.
