1 April At Fishermans Bend River Rd SE Mill City, Oregon SAVE MONEY PREREGISTER - When you give us your Pre-registration Information for your Troop, please give us an estimate of the number: Scouts, Adults, Patrols, and Tents. This will help us in our planning. Pre-registration is important due to the large number of units attending Camporee. Those units that pre-register will be assigned campsites closer to all events. Those units not pre-registering will have to pick from the remaining sites, or overflow campsites. Pre-registering also tells us how big to make each unit's campsite. Campsites will be in a variety on the group end of the park. The cost of pre-registration units is $10 per youth and adult if registered by April 15. Units registering after April 15 will pay $13 per boy. WEBELOS REGISTRATION - Cubmasters, make sure this information is passed on to your Webelos Den Leaders. Get in Touch with a Troop or Two and arrange for your Webelos to join the Troop for Camporee. The Troop is the unit that registers for Camporee. The Troop needs to include the Webelos Scouts in its registration. Those that are coming just for Saturday STILL need to register through a Troop. Webelos Scouts can camp both nights with a parent. Webelos will not be able to participate in all the events and activities, such as tomahawk and knife throwing. They will be able to participate in all activities which are considered to be age appropriate. 1

2 REGISTRATION You can register online with double knot at cpctbsa.org/ or you unit may pay at the Salem Service Center before Camporee. When you arrive at Camporee, only minor adjustments may then be needed. The Final Registration Form includes the Following: The Scoutmaster or Acting Scoutmaster The Senior Patrol Leader / acting SPL. The Troop Camporee Chairman / Contact Person The name of the Patrols, and the names of the patrol members. All other Youth and adults who are being registered for Camporee Webelos, with their pack number. (Just note on the patrol lists if they are part of a patrol, or their own Patrol.) Home or message phone numbers for all participants. Please have the form completed before showing up at Camporee registration. If you use a Computer generated printout, please make sure the above information is included. CHECK-IN - When you arrive, go immediately to Camporee Headquarters (HQ) with your Scout Master and SPL. At check in you will need to show the following before you are given your campsite assignment: Show your Tour Plan Get your Forms Packet Present your Troop Medical Release File for review at HQ (They will be checked for current expiration dates) Show your parental permission slips for each participant Check your Final Registration Form against the Troop Rosters to confirm all people staying overnight are registered. Huddle with the Paymaster to resolve your final accounting for Camporee Fees Turn in your Final Registration Form. Get back to your Unit and distribute Parking Passes Units and or individuals not having the proper forms will be sent home to collect them. (Registration goes until 8:00 PM) Visitors (other than registered participants) are welcome at the Camporee. Visitors must sign in at the Camporee Headquarters. Visitors to a unit's camping area must have permission from the unit leader. Visitors are welcome to attend field events and the Saturday evening campfire, and may bring picnic lunches and supper to the Camporee. Visitors must depart before Taps. 2

3 BOY LEAD AND ADULT GUIDED-Camporee is a boy lead event that gives the boys of your units a chance to show what they have learned in scouting and put to the test in a safe and practical environment. The young men of the OA with the help of our Venturing crews will be running this camporee. Please follow their guidance and only step if there is a safety concern. All other concerns should be directed to the staff HQ to be dealt with PATROL COMPETITIONS - Scoutmasters, make sure you contact your favorite Cub Scout Packs and invite their Webelos and "Outgoing" Bear Scouts. The competition on Saturday will be by patrol. Patrols must have between four and eight members. Patrols need to stay together and work together. Points will be awarded based on how well the Patrol works and on its spirit. Come prepared with your Patrol flag, yell, and song. There will be ribbons for the top finisher for each event. Again this year there will be a tie breaker for each event: First done will not guarantee top honors. Adult "Active Coaching" may cost points / "Cheer Leading" is encouraged Units are encouraged to build a gateway into their camping area; there will be a separate Competition for this. As with any activities at Camporee units need to follow Leave No Trace. This means no lasting marks on the park area are allowed such as holes or ditches. Units are encouraged to bring and display an American Flag, Unit Flag and Patrol Flags as a part of their gateway. UNIFORM INSPECTION-Each patrol will be asked to send their best dressed scout for the uniform inspection. This includes a properly outfitted field uniform shirt (formerly called class A), scout pants or shorts and scout socks. The OA staff will be performing the Inspections. COOKING CONTEST-Patrols are encouraged to participate in a patrol Cooking Competition. Sign up for a time slot by noon on Saturday. The menu can be anything of your choosing. A plate should be delivered hot to the Judges at your designated time. The meal will be judged on 10% Presentation, 10% Completeness of meal, 50% on taste of main dish, 10% side dishes, 10% desert, and 10% teamwork and patrol spirit. Cooking Competition will be for youth only. SPL Competition-There will be an SPL competition prior to the evening campfire. What will it be? You ll know when it happens. This will be fun so make sure they all get involved. GATEWAY & CAMPSITE CONPETITION-The Troop campsites will be judged during the day on Saturday. Remember to clean up after lunch just in case your site hasn t be judged yet. Gateways will be judge separately and extra point can be earned if the Camporee Chairman can pass through without having to duck. Remember that this year theme is NATIVE AMERICAN. 3

4 CATAPULT COMPETITION- This year we will be having a catapult competition. Troops should come prepared to fire a soccer ball as far as they can. The time for this contest will be short so your catapult will need to be able to be moved quickly. Remember safety first so catapults will be inspected prior to firing, make sure that all inertia enhancers are well secured. Awards will be given for distance and accuracy. COSTUME COMPETITION-Scouts and Scouters are welcome to wear Greek or Roman costumes at the Awards Ceremony Saturday Evening. Togas are fine but be sure to wear appropriate clothing underneath. There will be a judging of the costumes and ribbons will be awarded. SERVICE PROJECTS- Come prepared to participate in such task as trail maintenance, brush clearing and other similar jobs. The time spent on these work projects can count towards rank advancement as well as points for the troop/patrol competition. Tools will be provided by the park staff but you will need to come prepared with work gloves. All patrols must spend one hour working on the service project (special needs will be considered. CAMPFIRE - One of the Activities this year will be an audition for the campfire. Not all Patrols may be able to perform due to time limitations. Each Webelos den may audition their own skit or song for campfire. All Patrols auditioning will earn points for this station just like they would for any of the competition events. As with the service project patrols who are competing for the top overall, all patrol must audition for campfire. Scoutmasters, be sure the skits are appropriate and follow Safe Haven Guidelines. EMERGENCY/MEDICAL - There will be a medical aid station near the Camporee headquarters shelters. Each Troop must have its own first aid kit and parental permission slips, including a copy of the Medical Release Forms, for each Scout. Don't forget your Tour Plans, for the Cub Scouts as well as the Troop. 4

5 FACILITIES Kybos and gray water receptacles will be provided throughout the Park. Water is available at the park; please bring appropriate containers for hauling it to your own campsite. Each unit is responsible for keeping its site clean and packing out all trash. Do not use the park's trash containers. Take your own trash back with you. Everyone is responsible for keeping the KYBO s clean. There is no electricity in the camping areas. Units must plan to remove all garbage from the Camporee area. Please bring an adequate supply of trash bags. If you bring it to Camporee you must take it back out. Use "Leave No Trace" principles. Do not cut or otherwise injure live trees or plants. Do not dig holes in the park The Playground is off limits to Scouts. The Park Restrooms are for Women and Adult use only. SANTIAM RIVER- Stay out of the river and off the river trail. This event will not have any lifeguards and therefore no scouts are allowed in the water. Any scout found engaging in inappropriate behavior (Playing in the water, wading, throwing objects into the water) near the River will be asked to leave the Camporee. This information will be presented by the Camporee staff, and communicated to the troop leaders at the Cracker Barrel on Friday night. PARKING - There will be no assigned parking area, it is first come first served. Vehicles will not be allowed to drive anywhere except into the parking area. Units should come prepared to haul all gear into the camping area from the parking lots. There will be a special area set up for disabled parking for easy access to all areas of the park. LDS units will be camped in an area that will make Saturday evening departure easier for them. We ask that you do not park in other than the designated parking areas. UNIFORMS - Troops should arrive and depart in full field (formerly class A) uniform. The Scout uniform should also be worn whenever scouts or Scouters gather for "Formal Occasions" including: Morning and Evening Flag Ceremonies Saturday night's OA Callout Campfire Sunday Religious service Campfire and Awards Programs A day pack would be a great way to stash clothing during the competitions. Troop Policy will determine in-camp dress codes, or Patrol dress codes during the competitions. Common looking Activity Uniforms are encouraged. Please, no "Message" T-shirts at any time. Only Plain or Scout related T-shirts if possible please. 5

6 GENERAL RULES - A spirit of Scouting courtesy and brotherhood must prevail during the entire Camporee if it is to be a success. At the Camporee, as always, everyone's conduct is expected to be in accordance with the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, and the Outdoor Code. Everyone is asked to use "Leave No Trace". This is the general framework around which this Camporee will be operated. Remember to ask permission before entering another Troop's campsite. Do not bring any electronic equipment (radios, games, etc.), sheath knives, fireworks, alcoholic beverages, firearms. Do not ditch your tents. We need to leave the park in better shape than it was Friday morning. Leave no trace camping guidelines will apply at all times. There will be Reveille and Taps each morning and evening. Quiet hours will be enforced between these times. Respect your neighbors; respect the need for the youth to obtain a full 8 hours of sleep each night. Two deep leadership must be maintained by all units. The Camporee committee may be able to help with short term solutions if needs arise. Safety and fire-protection are the responsibility of everyone at the Camporee. Be very careful with fires, have fire buckets and firefighting tools available. Smoking will be permitted only in the gravel parking lots out of view. All campfires need to be elevated off the ground. Digging fire pits or gray water pits will not be permitted. Weather at this time of year is very unpredictable. Be Prepared. Bring tents, rain gear, dining flies, and ground cloths. The Camporee will not be called off because of rain. Plan your Sunday Camp dismantling around the required Camp Wide Service on Sunday morning. The Buddy System must be maintained at all times. EARLY DEPARTURE - If you are leaving Saturday night, please let the Camporee staff know when you register. Checkout will be just prior to the awards ceremony Saturday and should be done by the Scout Master and SPL. Be sure to turn in your Scoutmaster Evaluation and SPL Evaluation to receive the Camporee Patches. Fines will be assessed for leaving campsites a mess after checkout. All Scouts must remain on the Camporee grounds. If there is an emergency you must obtain permission from your Scoutmaster to leave. Scoutmasters must make sure the Camporee headquarters is immediately notified of any departures (Then drop a note in with your Medical Files folder) 6
