3 General Information Participants (leaders and youth) should register online before 1/15/15 to take advantage of the early registration discount. Those registering after 1/15/15 will be charged the standard rate. The winning patrols will be announced after dinner on Saturday. The cost for dinner is an additional $5 per person. You can elect that when you register. After you have registered your unit, please send an to with your roster of scouts and adults, the number of patrols and your expected arrival day (Friday or Saturday) to assist in the assignment of campsites. We are looking for Adult Volunteers to lead some of the areas. Please let John know how many folks from your troop are willing to help out. Troops can arrive Friday evening after 5pm or Saturday Morning All Participants should have BSA medical forms Part A and B Troops should provide their own camping and cooking gear. Potable water will be available at the dining hall Fires are only allowed in existing fire rings within the campsites. Fire wood will be provided on Saturday will be a Dutch Oven cooking event. Each patrol should bring their own Dutch oven(s) and be prepared to cook a hot lunch for their patrol and also to be judged (The charcoal will be provided and already burning when you arrive to cook lunch) Each Patrol should have a skit for Saturday Nights Campfire Cell Phones and electronic devices are not allowed during the stations on Saturday. Scouts are encouraged to wear Marvel themed costumes The Klondike will go on rain, snow, ice or shine so please dress for the weather. (In the event of real nasty weather, a cancellation note may be issued.) The activities during the day on Saturday are Patrol-based and each patrol will need to bring their own Klondike sled. This guide provides an overview and schedule of events for planning purposes. After the opening ceremony on the Parade Ground, we will gather outside the dining hall for a safety briefing and each patrol will be given a map and a schedule for the day. Patrols will move from station to station competing in skill-based challenges along the way. Each station will be scored based on teamwork, skill demonstrated and Scout Spirit. The Klondike will consist of several stations spread throughout the camp. The scouts will be taking their sled and its contents to each station. The should will be tending to the injuries common in an arctic climate, preparing signaling devices, making a light saber (bring a hand-held flashlight), finding enemy drones, and making shelters out of dead ton-ton s (maybe). 4 meeting for the Klondike, you may want to brush up on using a compass, first aid, lashing, fire building and other basics. From the south (Middletown, Waterbury, etc.) Take Route 8 North to Pinewoods Road, Exit 46. Go right at the end of the exit ramp past the Chatterley s Banqueting Hall to the intersection of Route 183, where you will see a sign for camp. Go left on Route 183 and take the next right onto West Hill Road. Proceed about one mile and take a left across from the Camp Sequassen parking lot, following the sign to Camp Workcoeman. Camp will be approximately one mile down this one-lane road. From the Hartford area Follow Route 44 to Winsted. Go left onto Route 183 and proceed for about 3 miles. Go left onto West Hill Road.
