1 2017 Cornerstone District Fall Cub Adventure Campout 1, 2, 3 Go - Stem October (Friday - Sunday) WHAT - Cub Adventure is two nights of camping with parents, leaders and other Scouts. It is spending one evening setting up camp and watching a movie, one day in theme activities and one evening at a campfire doing stunts, skits and songs. The event is 1, 2, 3, Go. There will be a Chili Cook Off with desert competition. - The cooking will need to be done by Scouts - A Mystery Ingredient will be identified at leader meeting to each Pack. The Ingredient Must be used in the chili or dessert. - The Cook Off can be an item of a meal or you can cook a full meal - The Meal has to be made onsite and something the pack can eat. - There will be points given out for the best tasting, Best built cooking apparatus. Packs are responsible for one activity in the morning. Please have a midway games this year that is themed around the STEM 1, 2, 3, Go). WHERE Price Coffee Rd Bentonville, AR ARRIVAL If you are camping Friday night, plan to arrive at the front gate between 2:00 and 9:00 PM on Friday, October 20, 2015 (Movie start time 7:30pm). Camp Staff volunteers will be waiting at the entrance to direct you to your assigned unit campsite. We will be back out Saturday morning from 7:00 9:30 AM. Please unload and park vehicles and trailers as quickly as possible. All motorized vehicles must be parked outside of the campsite area, but not along the fence. Walmart employees please sign the event VAP sheet upon arrival or hand in a pre-filled out VAP sheet (form attached). CHECK-IN PROCEDURE 1. Upon arrival, your unit representative should report to the Headquarters Tent to officially check-in. 2. Turn in your final unit roster of youth and adults and pay any remaining fees, if needed. 3. Pick up your Unit Campout packet with the latest information about updates and schedule. Please communicate the information with your unit. LEADER MEETING (CRACKER BARREL) - Leader Orientation will be held - Friday Evening October 8:30 PM (Mandatory) - Saturday evening 15 min. after campfire - All meetings will be at the headquarters tent and is where units will receive the schedule of events and ask questions. - We will convey information critical to your units. MOWING TBD CAMPFIRE - The Saturday night activities will be done in theme. Any unit wanting to participate must register with the Campfire Coordinator, before 4:00 PM on Saturday. This will be an exciting and enjoyable time for all. A sound system will be used so that all can hear. Remind your units to bring a ground cloth, tarp, or trash bag to sit on please limit chairs so all can see.

2 RELIGIOUS SERVICES A Scout is Reverent; Sunday morning at 8:30 AM the interfaith worship service will be held near the HQ area. Bring chairs. All units are encouraged to participate. Units are welcome to conduct their own faith services if desired. CHECKOUT AND DEPARTURE - Upon departing the Camporee units may check out at the Headquarters Tent or find a committee member to verify Leave No Trace was practiced by your unit. CONTESTS 1) Cook off contest: Chili and Dessert (Scouts must cook). The dish has to be cooked onsite, be at least part of the meal eaten by the pack, and be in HQ area at 18:30 (6:30pm) for judging. 2) Volunteer Award: The volunteer award is figured by volunteer hours divided by number of participants by unit attending the campout. 3) Best in Theme: Best representation of the theme by a pack, such as in camp decorations, activities, etc. subjective. 4) Spirit Award: strictly subjective. We will be talking to activity leaders and staff members about unit s sportsmanship, attitude, and participation. 5) Camp Setup: judged on inspection (sheet attached at the end of this leader s guide), organization, efficiency, cleanliness, sustainability. ACTIVITIES: We will have one large activity area, assigned by Packs (Webelos will have separate activities and grouped together). Area assignments will be handed out at the Friday and Saturday Leader meeting. Starting activities will also be assigned at the meeting, with the pack rotating to a new activity upon the sounding of a horn (with 5 minutes rotation time) 6 Activity Sessions 3 in the Morning and 3 in the Afternoon The Packs will finish the Activities in the afternoon then have free time to visit each packs midway game. IMPORTANT REMINDERS: BRING MEDICAL/HEALTH HISTORY FORMS FOR ALL SCOUTS NO PETS please DO NOT bring your pets to the campout NO smoking within sight of a Cub Scout NO fueled torches (electric torches are preferable) This will be a DRY camp. Bring your own water for cooking, cleaning and drinking. Keep safety in mind and adhere to Boy Scout guidelines. Please review camp etiquette with your boys. No open toed shoes/sandals No re-bar tent stakes. No vehicles in the camp site areas. No generators. No electronic games, radios or boom boxes (except weather radios) No fireworks, guns or sheath/large knives. No alcohol or illegal drugs. Report ALL accidents to staff immediately. All fires are to be contained in fireboxes to be provided by the pack. Water needs to be near the fire for safety purposes Port-a-potties will be provided Channel 5 will be used by camp staff for two way communication. Please keep that channel clear. All Packs are responsible for removal of their Trash and Recyclables

4 REGISTRATION Due to the size of the campout, please register as a Pack, not individually. Lion Scouts will be allowed to attend. Like Tiger Scouts, Lion partners must stay with their Lion scout at all times REGISTRATION FEES: Registrations will be accepted up to the 20th at a cost of $30 per family for campout. Please let me know head count by October 17, REGISTRATION: Register as a Pack. Compass A Compass will be handed out to all registered Scouts. Additionally, each Scout will get a patch. Late registration will not get a Bandana, but will still receive their patch. Additional Bandana s (for adults, siblings, etc.) are $10 each, additional patches are $4 each. QUESTIONS? We plan on going out to the location, Oct. 19th at 4:30pm. We will be measuring pack campsites, driving t- posts, stringing the boundaries, setting up shooting sports, and setting up the HQ tent. We need for each participating pack to send at least one volunteer (the more the merrier) to help with this process. If you need more space for volunteers, please write on back of page. Thank you.
