2 Pace: Brisk Terrain: Easy Hike Description: This hike follows pieces of the Chedoke Rail Trail and streets along the escarpment edge and the pace will be brisk only where possible. The meeting place is the parking lot behind the club house of Hamilton's Chedoke Golf Course. The entrance to the course is near the west end of Aberdeen. Wear boots and bring icers in case. After all, it's March. An optional pub stop follows the hike. Expect some hills and poor footing. Icers may be necessary. Meet for a 10:00 am. start on the east side of the LCBO at Upper Oakville Shopping Mall located at Upper Middle Road and Eighth Line. After a refreshment break at the Trail Centre, we will ontinue on the Spring Creek Trail back to Sanctuary Park. Bring water, icers and a snack/lunch. Pace: Leisurely Terrain: Easy Hike Description: Please join us for this loop hike in the always beautiful Halton Agreement Forest. The hike will be approx. 12 km. with an option to short hike the hike to 8 km. for those who prefer a shorter hike. The hike is mostly flat but could have some muddy and wet sections. Keep your eye out for patches of black ice. In truth, the pace can be as slow, moderate, or fast as you want since a trail that goes there-and-back doesn't require you to match your leader's pace. Just fall in step with a person whose pace is close to yours. The meeting place is Hutch's Restaurant on Van Wagner's Rd. in east Hamilton. When you turn into the parking lot in front of Hutch's, look to the line of cars just to the right of the restaurant. An optional pub stop will follow. We meet at the front door of William's Coffee Pub on Discovery Lane which runs north from Guise St. between James St. and John St. in Hamilton Park in the lot to the right of William's. I'm guessing that running shoes might be appropriate by this point, but I can't promise there won't be slippery patches. An optional pub stop will follow. From there we will walk along the Spring Garden Rd down into the HendrieValley,followsomeofthe trails and boardwalks, and return to the Hendrie Valley parking lot (which is just across Plains Rd from where we begin).
