Originally the HIA Expo was a trade only exhibition, then opened its doors to the public as well as trade, providing a strategically targeted exhibition for the new home owner, renovator, building industry trade and professionals. 3 HIA Ask an Expert HIA Outdoor Designer Rooms & exclusive features The Ask an Expert is a designated area where visitors will ask experts in the building trade (such as builders, GreenSmart, kitchen & bathroom designers, town planning, landscapers etc) particular new home and/or renovating questions. Ask an Expert is manned by the members of HIA and affiliated industry organisations. Ask an Expert is a key visitor attraction and is available as free service to all visitors. HIA Youth Skills - Trade Skills Demonstrations, HIA Careers Day & Skills Recognition Awards Over the years the HIA Expo has showcased a number of exclusive features such as the Hobbit Dome, Outdoor Designer Rooms, Treehouse, Sustainable Smart House, Kitchen Showcase, Bathroom Showcase, Hall of Fame of HIA s best builders & homes; as well as live-projects such as building a classroom for the Tsunami victims then transporting to Thailand. These features are designed and built exclusively for the HIA Expo, providing the opportunity for exhibitors to showcase their products in a visually stimulating display. In the weekend prior a promotional feature will be included in the Courier Mail to preview the HIA Expo, exhibitors, products on display, features and prizes. The Saturday edition of the Courier Mail has a weekend readership of over 880,000. Additional press advertising will also be placed in the Gold Coast Bulletin. With editorial and promotional support in Sunshine Coast, Quest Newspapers and other community newspapers.

5 Television The objective of the television campaign is to generate high levels of reach and frequency in order to drive attendance. From research over the past years majority of visitors to the HIA Expo are aged years. Majority of spot bookings are positioned around the programs that represent a high frequency from years. A two week campaign is a combination of 2 x 15 sec and 1 x 30 sec advertisements, with the heaviest activity scheduled in the week leading up to the event. This has proved successful and provides a significant share of voice. Radio A broad spread of the target market is reached through radio, utilising a combination of eleven AM & FM radio stations. The radio campaign is heavily weighted towards traffic reports. Traffic reports scheduled morning and evening has an effective cut-through as a majority of listeners are keenly listening to traffic reports during peak traffic hours. Traditional advertising is accompanied by promotional giveaways and interviews. Public Relations The HIA Expo contracts a PR agency to run an eight week campaign to focus on the principal features, exhibitors, products, attractions to generate newsworthy publicity about the HIA Expo and exhibitors. To date the HIA Expo has been successful in obtaining live broadcasts from the Expo, additional television, radio and print promotion. Other Media Focused promotion will occur through other media included e-newsletters to our exhibitor database, HIA members, flyers, website, newsletters, trade and consumer magazines. EXPO: Renovate & Build magazine The official magazine of the HIA Expo showcasing all exhibitors, products and features at this year s Expo. This 100 page glossy publication is freely distributed to all visitors at the HIA Expo. This publication is designed to capture the attention of your potential customers and is an excellent reference tool of products and services on display for anyone building a new home or renovating. As an exhibitor of the HIA Expo, all exhibitors are requested to provide company and product details to be included the Exhibitor Product Directory. Each exhibitor s product directory will include exhibitor contact details, logo, twenty word description of product and image of product. All directories will be listed alphabetically. This is a mandatory $110 per directory. 8 Public Liability Insurance All exhibitors must supply HIA a copy of their Public Liability Certificate of Currency for $10 million. This refers to damage or injury caused to third parties/visitors on or in the vicinity of an exhibition stand while the expo is open on show days and during days dedicated to moving in and out.
