Reconnecting People With Food From Nature Scotland s Natural Larder is at the forefront of Scottish efforts to encourage people to make the most of our locallysourced and sustainably harvested and hunted wild food. The project is a partnership between Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) and the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) and has helped introduce people to tastes they may not be familiar with rabbit, wild goose, wild garlic and lots of fantastic ways to prepare venison. Our project also seeks to provide best practice support for skills so that people can make the most of safely identifying, handling preparing and cooking food from nature. There s a focus on using meat from game and wildfowl as part of a balanced diet such as locally processed rabbit, pigeon, goose and venison and also some of the products of managed sport shooting such as partridge, pheasant and grouse. To complement these flavours, we re teaching responsible foraging to help people make the best use of the great tastes available from our woodlands and hedgerows and helping people be more connected with their food and seasonal cycles.
