4 Secretary s Report May 2017 No Secretarys Report on Holidays (will they ever come back?) a good spot for the third ride of the month. Page 4 Rylstone Ride Report, overnight, 14th & 15 th October 2017 As I left home the weather was looking a little over cast but by the time I got to Woy Woy the rain had started, so out came the wet weather gear! It turn out that the showers were very light & the further west we went the dryer it got. With only a small group of 8 bikes, 1 car, total of 12 people our first stop was morning tea at Myrtle House in Wollombi. Considered taking off wet weather gear but left it on just in case. After morning tea we headed to Broke, almost nobody else was on the road & we enjoying the country roads. We turned onto Charlton Rd which turns into the Golden Hwy. At the end of the Golden Hwy we turned right & 7.5km up the road we stopped at Pukara Estate to taste wide verity Olive oils, Vinegars & Sauces. The Barrel Aged Balsamic Vinegar & Glasseye Creek Wild Meat Sauce are delish! Then a quick trip into Denman to top up fuel & body. After lunch we headed out of Denman 15km & turned onto the Bylong Valley Way to Rylstone. The Bylong Valley Way has got to be one best rides around! We were privileged with beautiful scenery, large flat plains on our right & mountains on the left with the afternoon sun reflecting off the mountain cliff faces, then winding our way up the mountain out of the valley dodging the wide variety of road kill all the way. Our accommodation was in the Rylstone Hotel (very basic but clean) with some very nice food, and comedy entertainment put on by Big Al! A fun night! Next morning we headed home via Lithgow for coffee & wet weather gear back on & a slow ride along the Bells Line of Rd in the light rain to home! A great weekend! 5 Dungog Scenic Tour 17 th September Page 5 Excellent turnout on a sunny morning with the promise of something different. Departing at 8:30 from Woy Woy we enjoyed a dream run via Hue Hue, Wangi Wangi and Wallsend to Raymond Terrace. Vince from Budgewoi saw the ride on our website calendar, phoned on Saturday to get the good oil then joined us at Wyee. Big Al and Steve Muscat similarly arranged to meet us at Raymond Terrace. Thirty-three members and friends at Maccas for morning tea pit stop. Phase Two kicked off with an easy run up the eastern bank of the Williams River. We cruised along flat road with a few curves and plenty of open space to feast the eyes. Cattle grazed peacefully in the paddocks. Passing through East Seaham we were treated to undulating tree-lined road with more curves and a bonus unsealed section to spice up the ride. Firm smooth surface, all good. Back onto the bitumen and a quick regrouping stop before rolling into Clarence Town. We crossed the Williams at Clarence Town s rustic bridge, then took an easy scenic run to Glen William where we crossed back again at the best bridge of the day. No side rails, old planks rattling under the wheels. Perfect. The last leg into Dungog followed more undulating tree-lined road with great views of the green countryside. I must admit this section was a little bumpier than my memory of the reccy on a Suzuki GS500. Three more members (Charlie, Grasshopper and Wayne) met us at Dungog pub for lunch. Comments on the ride varied from Let s do it again! from the lightweights to We re not going back along that last section are we? from the heavy cruiser pillions. A relaxed cruise home via Paterson, Largs, Buchanan and Freemans rounded out a Top Day. Looking around the faces at Freemans made the planning effort all worthwhile. Some may have looked a little tired, some a little dusty, but all looked happy! Would I do this ride again? Absolutely, but there are so many other great places to explore first! Gav Lill #65483

7 Lunch with the Tigers (Take Two) Page 7 This time we picked a mild day with a forecast maximum temperature of 21 degrees. Fifteen members set out at 8:30am on a mission to fly. Straight up Woy Woy Road and the M1 to Freemans for a quick pit stop, over the hill to Brunkerville, left into Sandy Creek Road, right into Quorrobolong Road, straight through Cessnock, right into Lovedale Road, right onto the New England Hwy, left into Luskintyre Road, no fuss no bother. We reached our destination at 10:30am to find tigers in flight. This looked good. A conversation with a few of the pilots and we were in. Everybody who wanted to fly did so. Successful mission! Enjoy the photos and the video. Gav Lill #65483
