First of all, what a fantastic AGM. I think a big thank you goes to the organising committee from the Fraser Coast, for a difficult task very well done. The weather was beautiful for the whole week. Congratulations to Mike Abberfield, our new National Treasurer and the newly elected national committee. There was a ride to the Military Museum on the Wednesday ride day, Reports are it was a great day out. The ride to PITS was another good day with some of the loving husbands taking their wives out for Mothers Day. It was a bit cool first off but got better as we went on. By the time we got to Jerry s for morning tea it was quite warm. Then on to the Pie in the Sky for lunch, fjoining up with a few people that got up late, and then rode straight down the Freeway to join the rest of us for lunch. Unfortunately I wasn t be able to join the ride to Moonan flat so I hope everyone had a great day. I won t be at the June meeting so have a great night and I will see you soon on the road somewhere. Stay safe Simon 10533

4 Ride to Pie In The Sky 12th May 2013 (The PITS) On a cool foggy morning seven bikes gathered at Hexham McDonalds ready for a good day s ride and hoping the fog would clear. When everyone had finished their coffee we set off with Simon as leader and Kerry as tail end Charlie. As we approached John Renshaw Drive the fog seemed to clear but it was only teasing us and came back in a very short time. We wound our way out through Millfield and onwards towards Wollombi. The views along this road are beautiful on a clear day but unfortunately some were covered in fog. We continued on through to Wollombi where there were the usual crowd of bikes out for their Sunday rides. There was a decision made before we left Hexham that we wouldn t stop for morning tea at Laguna but go on to Kulnura. On arriving Jerries café at Kulnura we all ordered our coffee s and had a look at the motor scooter Jerry had bought for his wife for Mother s Day, complete with red roses and a red bow. We then wandered around the back where to our surprise two sheds with all sorts of nik-naks and some beautiful wooden furniture, all of which took the interest of a couple of the ladies (I think Les may be taking his ute back). Out the front of the café were some vintage bikes which some of the men had a look at and unfortunately one of the bikes, a BSA had developed a leak in the petrol tank and was going home on a trailer. Moonan Flat May 26th 2013 What a great day, despite being a little brisk to start. Fourteen other riders, with some pillions, also thought the same. We left Hexham Macca s on time, although we struggled to get out the driveway before the Ford Car Club which was also gathered in the carpark. After a few attempts to get all the bikes around and through the traffic lights we were on our way with Mr Lid kindly volunteering to lead the ride. We headed towards East Maitland and then off the highway to Bolwarra Heights and along Maitland Vale Road all the way through to Singleton. The scenery was fantastic under the cloudless skies. Arriving at McDonalds Singleton we all filed through the doors for some warming cups of coffee, tea and hot chocolate. A few riders left us at Singleton to head home whilst the remainder then carried on up the highway to turn off at Aberdeen towards Gundy and Moonan Flat and more great scenery. At Gundy the chef was standing at the door empty handed, sadly watching us all pass by. If you intend to head to Moonan Flat, make sure you re ready for those twisty bits just before town, they come up pretty fast and take you by surprise! Just ask Brian. He reports the ABS works well. The Victoria Hotel at Moonan Flat was a little busy with a group of 4WD drivers (including one Harley rider, Phil) so we were able to spend some time chatting and catching up with one another. Tony s meal was the last out and worth the wait - you should have seen the size of his steak! Back on our bikes after lunch for the fairly long ride home. It was a good day out, thanks all for your fine company and especially to Mr Lid for leading the way. Lynne After finishing our drinks and the usual pit stops we made our way down the old Pacific Highway to our lunch destination at Pie in The Sky ( I think Les enjoyed the twisties on the old highway as he became ride leader for a while). On arriving who should we see waiting for us but Wally, Garry and Sue, who had come straight down the highway. There was the normal large amount of bikes here but the wait for food and drinks didn t take long. After lunch and chatting some made their way onto various family gatherings as it was Mother s Day, then Wally, Tony, Simon and myself went to the twin servo s for a drink and to say our goodbyes. It was a lovely day s ride with great company, everything the Ulysses club is about. Tony s mighty man sized steak Julie Clarke Member # 10534

Sadly, at the Singleton Army Infantry Museum, Mick was forcibly removed from the cafeteria and shot for being out of uniform Dave Brown sent in this photo below. His new wheels? Does this indicate a more agressive approach to his riding style?
7 There is no official Ride Report for the Wednesday ride to the Australian Army Infantry Museum on May 8th. Eleven riders did manage to leave Hexham, more or less, on time and led by Bill who despite being ride leader, managed to finally arrive at the museum some five minutes after all the other riders. A great day out, a most interesting infantry display and a recommended venue for those who missed the visit.
