1 Updated Ride Schedule July 27, 2013 ALL RIDES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE NAPLES ORV PARK & BBQ LUNCH SUNDAY, APRIL 28 th, 9:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY) PRA Naples ORV Park is north of Sandpoint on Hwy 95 near Naples, Idaho. In Ponderay go north on Hwy 95 from the intersection by Big R, Walmart and Schweitzer Conoco, approximately 19 ½ miles. Look for Plantation Road on your left; turn left and go 1 mile to entrance of Stampede ORV Park. If you cross the bridge or reach Naples cut off you have gone too far. There will be a barbecue lunch provided by our local Polaris and Yamaha dealers; bring any snacks or drinks you may need. No ride leader, as we will remain in this area. HARRISON RIDE (DATE CHANGED) SATURDAY, MAY 4 th, 9:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY) BCATV Meet at 4 th of July parking lot. Take exit 28 off of Hwy. 90; go to stop sign and turn left, cross the highway and turn right at stop sign; parking lot ¼ mile. Lunch in Harrison or bring it. You might want to bring gas. Approximately 60 miles round trip. As it is still early in the season be prepared for cold and wet conditions. If snow is too deep, we may try other routes. Ride leader, Dan Hutchins, BCATV. CATALDO RIDE (DATE CHANGED) SATURDAY, MAY 11 th, 9:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY) BCATV This is a new ride. Meet at 4 th of July parking lot. Take exit 28 off of Hwy. 90; go to stop sign and turn left, cross the highway and turn right at stop sign; parking lot ¼ mile. Lunch at Cataldo or bring it. You might want to bring gas. HELLS CANYON RIDE SATURDAY THROUGH MONDAY, MAY 25 th & 26 th & 27 th Headquarters at Killgore Adventures RV Park and Motel near White Bird Idaho along the Salmon River. TALACHE TRAIL RIDE SATURDAY, MAY 25 th, 10:00 AM ATV/ NO UTV (DIFFICULT/ADVANCED RIDERS ONLY) From Hwy 95, just north of Westmond, Idaho turn east onto E. Dufort Rd. Go approximately 3.6 miles to Talache Rd. Turn right or south and go approximately 1.7 miles two small turnout on right, this used to be the old Dumpster sight. We will be on Talache Road for approximately 2 miles to the trail, starting out at driveway on the right. This trail has tight areas, side hills, and steep inclines to the top with loose shale and rock. Bring your lunch and bring your wits. Ride leader, Thomas Leo, PRA. MONUMENT MOUNTAIN RIDE CANCELLED SATURDAY, JUNE 1 st, 9:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY) BCATV This is a new ride. Meet at 4 TH of July parking lot. Take exit 28 off of Hwy. 90; go to stop sign and turn left, cross the highway and turn right at stop sign; parking lot ¼ mile. Lunch will be at Monument Mountain Lookout if the gate is open. Bring your lunch, and you might want to bring gas. Approximately 70 miles round trip. Remember May is usually a wet month, so be prepared. Ride leader Dan Hutchins, BCATV. 3 BURNT CABIN RIDE SATURDAY, JUNE 8 th, 9:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY) BCATV This is a new ride. Meet at the Fernan Saddle parking lot. Take exit 15 East around Fernan Lake stay on pavement to parking lot approx 8 miles to the top. Bring your lunch and gas approximately 75 miles. Lunch will be at the Hudlow warming hut. Ride leader Dan Hutchins, BCATV. BB GUN SHOOT & FUN RUN SATURDAY, JUNE 15 th, 9:00 AM ATV/UTV (INTERMEDIATE) BCATV This is a new ride. Meet at 4 th of July parking lot. Take exit 28 off of Hwy. 90; go to stop sign and turn left, cross the highway and turn right at stop sign; parking lot ¼ mile. We will have a BB gun shoot to start out and then we will have a fun run. (This ride is still in the planning stages.) Ride Leader Arnold Howe, BCATV. STRONG CREEK RIDE SUNDAY, JUNE 16 th, 9:00 AM ATV/NO UTV (INTERMEDIATE) PRA We will be leaving from Hope Grade School parking lot off of Sam Owen road. Take highway 200 east of Sandpoint through hope to Sam Owen peninsula road. Turn right and then make an immediate left turn and go up the hill to the parking lot on the left. There is a 50-inch limit at the trailhead. This ride has great views of the lake. Don t forget to bring your camera; bring your lunch, as we will have it at Char falls. 4 MAGEE RIDE SATURDAY, JUNE 22 nd, 8:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY) BCATV Meet at the Bunco parking lot at 8:00 AM. Bring lunch and gas. Take the Bunco Road located on the south end of Silverwood Theme Park on the east side of Hwy 95. Follow the road and signs to the parking lot. Approximately 85 to 90 miles round trip. (Very pretty ride) Ride leader Kenny Chrisp, BCATV. BUNCO TO CATALDO RIDE CANCELLED & REPLACED SATURDAY, JUNE 29 th, 8:00 AM, ATV /UTV (EASY) BCATV Meet at the Bunco parking lot. Take the Bunco Road located on the south end of Silverwood Theme Park on the east side of highway 95. Follow the road and signs to the parking lot. You can eat lunch at the Mission Inn, or bring your own. Bring gas or get it at Kingston. This ride is approximately 120 miles round trip. Ride leader Dan Hutchins, BCATV. FERNAN SADDLE TO CATALDO RIDE REPLACEMENT SATURDAY, JUNE 29 th, 9:00 AM, ATV /UTV (EASY) BCATV This is a new ride. This ride will be approximately 80 miles, which is about 45 miles shorter than the Bunco to Cataldo. This will be a new ride that will take us over several saddles, like Five Fingers Saddle, and Laverne Saddle, and Hardy Saddle, and several more Saddles. Meet at the Fernan Saddle parking lot at 9 AM. Take Exit 15, (Sherman Street); go to stop light. Turn left or East and go straight on E. Fernan Lake Rd. If coming from the east, take Exit 15 and turn right at stoplight. Stay on E. Fernan Lake Rd. paved road go around lake and uphill to parking lot. Approximately 8 miles to the top; it takes about 1 2 hr from the highway to the top of Fernan Saddle. This should be a fun ride that all can enjoy. Lunch will be at the Mission Inn in Cataldo. Ride leader Dan Hutchins, BCATV. BALDY MTN. TO SCHWEITZER SATURDAY, JULY 6 th, 9:00 AM ATV/UTV (INTERMEDIATE) PRA Go north on Hwy 95 through Sandpoint. Follow Hwy 95 toward Canada; turn left at the stoplight at the Conoco Service Station onto Schweitzer Mtn. Road. Proceed to the parking lot of the Bonner County Fairgrounds. Ride will go up Baldy Mtn. Road to Baldy Mtn. Then continue to the backside of Schweitzer Mtn.; we ll see great views of Sandpoint and the lake. 5 SUNDANCE MTN. LOOKOUT RIDE SATURDAY, JULY 13 th, 9:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY) BCATV This is a new ride. This ride is at Priest Lake and is a very pretty ride to the top of the Sundance Mtn. Lookout. Bring your camera. Approximately 65 miles round trip bring gas if you think you need it. Take Hwy 41 north from Rathdrum to Newport; turn right on Hwy 2 and go to the town of Priest River. Turn north (left) at the stoplight in Priest River onto Hwy 57. Go north on Hwy 57 approximately 22 miles to Dickensheet Hwy meet at the intersection. If you see the Lamb of God, Lutheran Church, you ve gone too far. Ride leader, Chad Hutchins, BCATV. 6 CLARK FORK-BUNCO MERGE RIDE TO WHISKY ROCK SUNDAY, JULY 28 th, 8:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY) Country and Panhandle Riders. This is a new ride between Back We will have two starting points. BCATV will meet at the Bunco parking lot. Take the Bunco Rd, located on the south end of Silverwood Theme Park on the east side of highway 95. Follow the road and signs to the parking lot. Bring your lunch as we will eat at the Whisky Rock; you may need to bring gas. From Bunco, ride leader is Arnold Howe, BCATV. PRA will meet at the Clark Fork High School. From Sandpoint go to Clark Fork; turn left at the Chevron service station, then right into the parking lot. Bring your lunch as we will eat at the Whisky Rock; you may need to bring gas. From Clark Fork, ride leader is John Fitzgerald, PRA. SILVER DOLLAR BAR RIDE SATURDAY, AUGUST 3 rd, 8:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY) BCATV Meet at Wallace parking lot, take Exit 61; go to the stop sign at bottom of off ramp. Turn right, and then cross the street into the big dirt parking lot on your left. Lunch at the Silver Dollar Bar or bring your own. Gas is available at the Silver Dollar Bar or bring your own gas if you think you might need it on the way. This is approximately 120 miles round trip. 7 PORCUPINE LAKE SATURDAY, AUGUST 10 th. 9:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY) with (ADVANCED) ATV option) This ride has changed due to trail conditions at Porcupine Lake. It is now EASY and UTVs are welcome. From Sandpoint go towards Hope on Hwy 200; cross the bridge at Pack River and continue on Hwy. 200 up and over the small pass. Just before small bridge, turn left onto Trestle Creek Road. Go a distance of about 4 miles up this road and you ll see a snowmobile parking area on the left. This is our starting point. Bring your camera, as there are some spectacular views and pictures. We'll ride up over the pass and up to Lunch Peak. Then head back down along Lightning Creek to eat at a restaurant in Clark Fork. Estimated distance from the start to the gas station in Clark Fork is 70 miles. Total miles will be 100+ but mostly on smooth surfaces. On the way back, we will visit Char Falls. Bring a snack/lunch and some gas. The ride will include the option for ADVANCED ATV riders to break off, ford Lightning Creek and head up to Porcupine Lake. The trail there has become difficult, but if you like a challenging ride, you'll have fun but please be careful. Ride leaders Thomas Leo/ John Fitzgerald, PRA. WEST END ATV ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MOUNTAINSIDE POKER RIDE SATURDAY, AUGUST 17 th, 9:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY) Meet at O-ACES Restaurant (245 E Deborgia-Haugan Frontage Road, De Borgia, Montana) on I-90, Exit 18. Ride over 65 miles of beautiful Montana mountainside. There is plenty of free camping nearby. (This is still in the planning stages.) TROUT CREEK MONTANA RIDE SATURDAY, AUGUST 24 th, 9:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY) BCATV Approximately 1 hour from CDA. Go east on I-90 and get off at the Kingston off ramp; turn left at stop sign. Go north upriver approximately 30 miles; when you hit the Y just past the Fire Dept and H&H Store stay to the 7 Amended July 27, 2013
8 left; just past the turn off for Prichard Tavern turn right to go to Murray; go approximately 3 miles and turn left at the pond. Signs say Settlers Cedar Grove. If you get to Murray you went too far; come back 3 miles. This ride is a great camp out and barbecue also. Starting point will be at Eagle, Idaho, which is up the CDA River between Prichard and Murray. Would like to hit the road at 10:00 AM and should be back around 3 or 4:00 PM. It is approximately 80 miles round trip, gas is available in Trout Creek or bring your own. We can stop at the Wayside Bar and Casino for lunch or we can find some shade trees to eat under if we bring our own food. It is a easy ride all dirt except for about 7 miles of pavement, so we can come back a different way. Now for something a little different, we start and finish at a little private community called Eagle City Park in which there are about 100 camping spots, which I own one. After the ride, I would like to see us have either a potluck or a barbecue. I have arranged for us to use the Eagles Nest, which will hold 40 or 50 people it has tables, fire pits, BBQ, covered area. Also if anyone wants to camp overnight there is plenty of room for campers, trailers and tents. Everybody needs to be self-contained. We also have ice available for cocktail hour or whatever. Ride Leader Jim Monroe will be our host. AVERY RIDE SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 th, 9:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY) Meet at the Wallace parking lot; take Exit 61 off of Hwy 90 and go to the stop sign at bottom of off ramp; turn right and then cross the street into the big dirt parking lot on your left. Lunch at Avery or bring it, bring gas if you think you need it or get gas at Avery. Approximately 70 miles. Ride leader Doug lynch, PRA. FERN FALLS RIDE SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 th, 9:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY) This is a new ride. Go east on I-90 from CDA and take the Kingston Exit # 43; go to stop sign and turn left. Proceed north up the Cour D Alene River to Forest Road 209; turn left and cross the river to parking area on left. (This ride is still in planning stages.) 9 CLARK FORK RIDE SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 st, 9:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY) Meet at the Bunco parking lot. Take the Bunco Road located on the south end of Silverwood Theme Park on the east side of Hwy 95. Follow the road and signs to the parking lot. This is a different Clark Fork ride than we have had in the past. We ll eat lunch in Clark Fork or bring your own; also bring gas or get it in Clark Fork. This is a very pretty ride so bring your camera. Approximately 120 miles. Ride leader Kenny Chrisp, BCATV. There are more rides yet to come, as we will probably ride into late October weather permitting. RIDES ARE HIGHLIGHTED IN THE COLOR MATCHING THE SUGGESTED DIFFICULTY. EASY Beginning rider skills, mostly flat trails, no side hills, stay on designated trails. INTERMEDIATE Experienced riding skills RECOMMENDED, roads/trails, possibly some steep slopes, side hills or loose rocks. COMBINATION Combination of difficulties, various terrains. For examples intermediate to difficult abilities. ADVANCED Experienced riding skills REQUIRED, trails requiring 4WD, obstacle navigation, rocky, side hills and slower travel. 9 Amended July 27, 2013
