1 Thank you Fall 2018 White Lake Township Voters! Operating millage renewal passes! Yes 59% No 41% We look forward to providing you with eight more years of excellent library service New Library Building Progress PRELIMINARY NEW LIBRARY - looking true south Steel Structure of New Library - 8/24/18 Continued on next page Inspiration through information

2 Library Building Update Since groundbreaking on May 2, the new library building construction is in full swing. May & June The site was cleared, building pad prepared, footings set, rough site utilities installed and work started on two detention ponds. Construction began on the water line from the Neighborhoods of White Lake to Kroger. This water line was a $400,000 unbudgeted expense that the Township Board required of the library before issuing a building permit. July The foundation walls were completed, detention ponds established and seeded along with additional work on the water line. Connecting the new water line to the building pad was necessary to meet the Township s criteria before continuing with the vertical structure of the library. August The structure of the building is starting to take place as shown on the front page of the newsletter. Steel beams and columns, interior/exterior masonry walls were erected. Site lighting and rough electrical underground were installed. The water main connection was completed, allowing installation of the water line to the library building. We are on track to have the building enclosed in late fall to avoid winter conditions. The new library building should open in early summer Monthly progress reports are on the library website, and timely pictures are on our Facebook page. Coming soon: a drone tour of the site! 8 News from the Library Board of Trustees We fondly wish farewell to Joe Fennell who will be moving this fall after ten years of service as the Treasurer of the Library Board. We cannot thank Joe enough for the hundreds of times he helped and supported the library staff, the library board, the Friends of the Library, the various millage committees, and the community. He generously shared his financial and managerial expertise with a calm and steady hand for which we will be forever appreciative and grateful. The Library Board will appoint an interim successor to serve until the next general election in Please consider giving your time and talents during this exciting time of opening the new library building. Those interested may apply by sending a letter outlining their qualifications and stating why they wish to serve on the Library Board. Prior business or non-profit experience, particularly about finance/accounting is preferred, but not required. Letters should be addressed to the Library Board and can be dropped off at the library; sent via to Library Director, Denise Stefanick at dstefanick@whitelakelibrary.org or mailed to the library at 7527 E.
