Grand Slam and Devon Bowling Lanes were a lot of fun. Everyone is looking forward to the new activities and trips next week. We have been diligently avoiding the heat this week.

It is also important that they wear sneakers and bring a swimsuit, towel and goggles on swim days. Feel free to also send a change of clothes with your camper in case it is needed.

1 Radnor Township Recreation and Community Programming Department Radnor Day Camp Week 2: July 4 - July 8, 2016 Dear Parents, Celebrating 75 Years of Camp! What a busy week! The second week of camp flew by. Campers and counselors have enjoyed visiting the activity periods everyday, participating in group activities and going on our first field trip. Grand Slam and Devon Bowling Lanes were a lot of fun. Everyone is looking forward to the new activities and trips next week. We have been diligently avoiding the heat this week. We hope the weather cools off for us to enjoy more outdoor activities. Please remember to send your camper with a full lunch, water, snack and sunscreen. It is also important that they wear sneakers and bring a swimsuit, towel and goggles on swim days. Feel free to also send a change of clothes with your camper in case it is needed. We are looking forward to another full week with fun activities at camp and planning for Olympics Week during Week 4. Thank you for your continued support and patience this summer. 2 Swimming Well Hello! 2nd week of camp is down & things are going well over here at the pool. The Lifeguards & I would like to remind you to send in a good pair of swim goggles with your child, if you haven't already. Yes, it really makes a difference, when we are instructing them on their breathing techniques. We have been going over streamlining & Freestyle. Hope you have a great weekend! Specialty Directors Spotlight Team Time Campers and leaders began celebrating the 75th year of RDC. Each group is working together to collect 75 items. Sixth Grade made 75 drawings of the number 75 and Kindergarten is going to collect 75 crayons. Group 1A decorated birthday cards while 2A and 2B began our camp wide list of 75 words to describe Radnor Day Camp. We will publish the whole list later this summer. On Friday, we enjoyed a special birthday treat to celebrate this momentous year! Spirit and Events Things were really heating up Week 2 at Radnor Day Camp. The kids had fun celebrating the 75th Anniversary of RDC. We had a great time tie dying their socks and playing games. We are looking forward to Under the Sea next week. Please have your children wear their bathing suits on Wednesday and Friday. We will be playing outside water games, so please make sure to put sunscreen on before camp. Molly Toomey

Some friendly reminders for the parents for your campers: Since we try to have the campers outside as much as possible (depending on weather), I require that each camper needs a refillable water bottle so that they can stay hydrated throughout the day Campers are required to wear closed-toed shoes (No Crocs, Flip flops, Sandals) so they are able to play safely and have better engagement in activities at camp Sunscreen is highly recommended for campers for their own sun protection Next week, we will be preparing for Olympics for Week 4 so campers will be on a team of either Red or Blue. I am happy that campers are having fun at Radnor Day Camp and I hope you continue to enjoy it! Lewis Ellis Creative Crafts From the Creative Crafts room: Thank-you to the families who sent materials for our supply table; buttons and ribbons and fabric have enriched our stock. As we proceed into the puppet project we will make good use of some additional items. If you have any of these materials please send them in next week. We especially need: newspapers large balloons small twigs paperclips and small binder clips This week we will have designed and constructed theaters for almost every group. It is impressive to see all these free-standing theaters taking shape. We are creating a small scale off-broadway neighborhood. I am excited by the level of enthusiasm in the room. I hope to capture some of the action on video to share with you later. Meredith Mustard

Performing Arts This week in Performing Arts, we are excited to explore Toy Story! All of the campers are expanding their performance skills to infinity and beyond this summer in Performing Arts.

4 Performing Arts This week in Performing Arts, we are excited to explore Toy Story! All of the campers are expanding their performance skills to infinity and beyond this summer in Performing Arts. The campers are playing acting games to get into character. Next week, all campers will continue to work on their dances for the show. Please keep an eye out in upcoming newsletters for costume needs for each group. Meghann Weaver The following supplies are needed for props and scenery. Please send in any donations starting next week. -Cardboard Boxes (Large and Small) -Paper Towel Rolls -Paper Bags -Old Light Colored T-shirts -Wire Hangers LIT: Leaders in Training The LIT program this summer has started off as well! With the theme of the summer being "positive reinforcement," the LIT's spent the first week of camp participating in team building activities with one another led by their leaders. They also completed role plays, and peer to peer evaluations, to better prepare them for "shadowing" in the weeks to come. Shadowing is the term used for when the LIT's are sent to assist the counselors of the younger grade groups. As week two comes to a close, the LIT's first week of shadowing does as well. We have received nothing, but positive feedback from counselors and campers alike! However, throughout the duration of camp they will still continue to work on their team building, and leadership skills to not only have a positive impact at camp, but to grow as individuals as well! On Tuesday July 12, 4th, 5th, 6th and LIT groups will be going to COCO Keys so bring bathing suit, towel and goggles (optional). Please pack a full lunch. Buying food or drinks is NOT PERMITTED, so no money is needed! Thursday July 14th, Kindergarten, 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, and 3rd grade will be attending Arnold s Go Karts!
