1 Acorn A s Our 44th Year The NutShell June 2015 We have some really nice upcoming trips that I hope you will attend with your cars. This month is the NCRG up in Sacramento, and next month is the Cherry Festival, July is Bill Biddell s long distance road trip to Yosemite. In August we will be having the ever popular Annual Picnic. It will be held in the same place as last year and lets hope it is as cool as last year. To that end, think about what you may want for a lunch and shoot me an . I will then see what we can do. I won t be here next month so VP Glenn will be filling in for me while I am on a paid vacation via the US Air Force.. Mike This young lad is currently a member of the Acorn A s. 2 Page 2 2 Meeting Minutes NutShell President Mike Cozad called the meeting to order at 7:30. After welcoming everyone, Kathy Morte moved to approve the minutes as published in the Nutshell, Jim Rodrigues 2 nd, the motion carried. Attendance: Mary Baptista reported 23 families, 37 members in attendance tonight, no guests. And due to the holiday there will not be a ladies lunch this month. Sunshine: Bea Van Wetter let everyone know Gene and Denise Peters Auntie passed assay this past month. Denise invited everyone to come to the memorial on Saturday. Jennifer Seibold had a successful hip replacement this past month.. She announced May birthdays and we sang to Anne Biddell and Jim Rodrigues. Membership: bill Biddell reported 47 member families Nutshell: Bill Biddell asked articles and photos be turned into him before the 20 th. Accessories: Anne Biddell had no report this month Fashion: Jackie Brooks said all is ready for the NCRG meet Historian: Brian McGarry brought the album from 2003 NCRG: Verne Brooks said the next meeting will be in two weeks in Sacramento. Public Relations: Brian McGarry let everyone know the Club won third place plaque for the Rowell Ranch Rodeo parade. Everyone went to lunch at Harry s after the parade. This memorial day on May 25 Club members meet at 9 AM at Lone Tree Cemetery for the Memorial Day Picnic and memorial event. Lunch will be provided by Lone Tree Cemetery. On Saturday, June 6 th is the Cherry Festival Parade. Meet at 9 AM at the boys and Girls club. Secretary s report: No mail, no report Tour Master: George Diamantine asked Bill Biddell to report on the Brake and Lube Day. Bill said he handed out a brake adjustment flyer, everyone adjusted their brakes and then tried them out on the gravel area. George said those who wanted to lube their cars did that too. Bill and Anne Biddell led the steam train tour up to the Golden Gate Live Steamers Club in Tilden Park. We had a General December Meeting 17, 2005 May 12, 2015 great picnic in their area, Bill BBQ d hotdogs and hamburgers, we rode the steam train and a couple of the train club members brought out Thomas the Train and gave a couple of kids rides. Upcoming Ralph and Virginia are leading the third Thursday tour to the Strawberry Patch. Meet at Creekside at 10 Am for the tour and lunch. Brian McGarry is leading the third Friday tour on May 15 to the Salt Marsh. Everyone will be leaving Creekside at 10 AM. Mike Cozad is leading the tour to the NCRG meet, he said everyone will meet at the Church parking lot at 9 AM on May 22 nd. Bill Biddell reported on the July Yosemite tour asking those who are going to get him your hotel deposits. George Diamantine announced he and Mona will be leading the September third Thursday Mystery tour. Stay tuned for more details. Treasurer Report: Steve Danzer reported we received sixteen cents in interest payments. Old business: None New business: Bill Biddell announced he met with the curator at the Hayward Historical Society and he is working on a display of Hayward in the 30 s. The exhibit would be in the community room and could have two Model A s, Clothes and accessories on display models and so far, Jackie Brooks, Tony Shull are working on the proposal. Our display would be up for 7-8 weeks, we would have to set up on a Monday and take it down on a Monday too. We would also have the option of a private reception in the room on a Friday night after hours. See Bill Biddell if you are interested in helping work on the project. Shake Award: None Refreshments tonight were provided by: Virginia Boling, Mike Cozad and George Diamantine. We amazed everyone with our parade driving skills and got a third place award which was presented to our president at the meeting.

The tri-motor was attending the Hayward Airports open house.

From there we headed over to see the new Russell City Energy Plant, it's looks like 3 mile island!

6 Page 6 Coming PR Events Memorial Day at Lone Tree May 25th Meet at cemetery 9 am Cherry Festival Parade Saturday June Meet at 9:00am Boys & Girls Club 401 Marina, San Leandro Rowell Ranch Rodeo Parade We had three cars attend this year's rodeo parade. We amazed everyone with our parade driving skills and got a third place award which was presented to our president at the meeting. Brian We left Creekside a little after 10 am with two open Model A's and three moderns. While visiting Meek Estate the Ford Tri-motor flew over head. The tri-motor was attending the Hayward Airports open house. After a short drive thru San Lorenzo we headed over to the Airport to catch a view of the huge C-130 Hercules. From there we headed over to see the new Russell City Energy Plant, it's looks like 3 mile island! We got the Hayward Shoreline right on time and had a very good overview from Linden Rayton, the Naturalist. Jim Correia share his Grandfathers family history of Johnson Landing with his families photo album. While leaving the Naturalist took photos and posted them on the shoreline's facebook page. We finished the tour at Sizzler's for their lunch special. Thanks for those who came. Brian & Sue McGarry
