2 Outbound: Airport: Heathrow Flight: BA 872 Check in: 12:30 Depart Langtree: 10:15 Horseman s Coach There is no expectations for pupils to arrive at school before 10am. If however they need to come in by bus then they will be accommodated outside of their lesson.

3 Inbound: Depart: Krakow Flight number: BA 873 Departs: 18:50 Arrives Heathrow: 20:30 Arrive Langtree: Approx. 23:15 Pupils will be advised to ring when we leave Heathrow.

4 Luggage allowance: Checked luggage 1 bag (max. 23kg / 51lb) Hand luggage: 1 handbag/laptop bag (max. 23kg / 51lb and up to 40 x 30 x 15cm / 16 x 12 x 6in) plus 1 additional cabin bag (max. 23kg / 51lb and up to 56 x 45 x 25cm / 22 x 18 x 10in)

8 Day One Arrive in Krakow, transfer to the Hotel for an evening meal. Possibly the chance of some free time in Krakow but this will depend on timings of dinner and how tired everyone is!

9 Day Two Depart for Auschwitz-Birkenau for 3.5 hour guided tour After Auschwitz we head to Wieliczka Salt Mine for a 3 hour guided tour this will include a lot of steps and a lift. Comfy, warm shoes will be important on this day.

10 Day Three Guided walking tour of Old Town and Kazimierz (Jewish Quarter) Morning visit to Schlindler s Factory Afternoon visit to the Gallicja Museum

11 Day Four Guided walking tour of the rest of Krakow Depart for the Airport and head home

12 Work Pupils will be given a booklet to work through on the trip this will provide a variety of tasks including diary entries and opinion pieces. Some students will be asked to write up the trip for the school newsletter Students from the trip will be leading the school assembly on Holocaust Memorial day.

13 In the evening An evening meal will be provided at the hotel on the Wednesday and Thursday There will be time in the evening to reflect on the day and prepare for the following day. We will also go and visit the Christmas markets in the main square and ensure that there is time to spend enjoying them. On the Friday evening we are going to enjoy a traditional Polish Folk evening including food and entertainment.

14 Spending money Information from the Post Office: Poland s currency the basics 1. The currency of Poland is the Polish zloty. 2. The new Polish zloty was introduced in 1995 today the exchange rate is around 1 pound to 5 zloty. (1 zloty = about 20p) 3. Zloty is pronounced zwo-ti. 4. Polish zloty banknotes come in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100 and Keep small notes for cafés and smaller shops some won t accept anything above One zloty is subdivided into 100 groszy.

15 We would recommend about 60 of spending money some for souvenirs and the market and some for food and drink should they wish. From experience the food in Poland is not to everyones taste! It may be worth pupils bringing some UK currency too to buy themselves lunch at Heathrow.

16 Weather December in Krakow, Poland is truly winter weather, with an average temperature of -1 C, a high of 2 C and a low of -3 C. Water fans will love it though, as the sea temperature is remarkably warm at 27 C. Rainfall is the same as November at 40mm over 14 days and a consistent humidity of 90% Current forecasts however predict that it will be around 3 C Accuweather 6/11/17

18 First Aid Any medicines need to be handed to me in a named bag with written instructions inside I am happy if you are for students to keep inhalers/paracetamol etc with them I would just ask if they let me know if they take any painkillers so that I can keep track. I am the trained First Aider for the trip so please contact me with any medical queries/concerns

19 Adaptors Poland plugs are similar to continental Europe. I would recommend sending one and a UK ramp.
