3 Why are we doing this trip? To enable students to gain a realistic and emotional understanding of the Holocaust To understand the human cost to war To gain an understanding of the events that have shaped history To help GCSE studies

4 Day 1 Thursday 25 January :15 Meet at school 12:30 Depart for UK airport transfer to Heathrow (no chewing gum, nuts or chocolate on the coach) 13:00 Arrive at Heathrow T5 flight check in 15:15 Depart Heathrow Airport flight number BA872

5 Day 1 Thursday 25 January :45 Arrive Krakow Airport (local time) 19:45 Board coach to Hotel 20:45 Check in to Hotel 21:00 Evening meal and free time (early to bed for early departure)

6 Day 2 Friday 26 January :00 Breakfast at hotel 06:30 Depart hotel for Auschwitz 08:00 Arrive at Auschwitz for guided tour 12:00 Lunch (own arrangements) 12:30 Move to Auschwitz II

7 Day 2 Friday 26 January :00 Return to hotel for free time 18:00 Depart for traditional local Polish restaurant 21:00 Return to hotel

8 Day 3 Saturday 27 January :00 Breakfast in hotel 09:00 Depart for Galicia Jewish Museum (includes meeting a Holocaust survivor) 12:25 Arrive at The Schindler s Factory for guided tour Time for lunch

9 Day 3 Saturday 27 January :30 Guided tour of Kazimierz. Through the old Jewish quarter, Kazimierz, the Rynek (market square) with the Sukiennice (cloth halls), and the Royal Route Royal Castle and Cathedral 17:30 Return to Hotel 18:30 Evening meal in Hotel 19:30 Depart hotel for bowling alley 22:30 Return to hotel lights out

10 Day 4 Sunday 28 January :00 Breakfast in hotel 09:00 Check out and load coach quick stop in city centre shopping mall and Old Town 11:15 Depart for Wieliczka Salt Mine 13:05 Arrive at Salt Mine for guided tour

11 Day 4 Sunday 28 January :30 Return to coach and depart for airport 17:30 Arrive at Krakow airport 19:40 Flight departs BA873 21:15 Flight lands 22:45 Return to school

12 Accommodation Hotel Wilga, Krakow Students will be staying in multiple bedded rooms Staff will be located near by and/or on the same floor Meals included breakfast dinner

13 Spending Money/Valuables/Passports Spending money will need to be exchanged for the Polish złoty prior to the trip. Students will hold onto their own money. Passports and EHIC s will be collected and held by a member of staff. Students are advised against taking any valuable items. Lost or stolen items cannot be replaced by the school. In line with school policy mobile phones are not allowed and students are not to upload anything to social media.

14 Emergency Contact Phone the school in the first instance during office hours If outside of office hours, please use the emergency number (this will be provided the week of the trip) Contact details in case of emergency, we shall use your child s first point of contact, as confirmed on the 2017/18 OA4 form that you returned to school (copy in your envelopes). Check these details are accurate these are the details used should we need to contact you Please clearly mark any amendments and return to Mrs Feetham, by Monday 8 January 2018, (this coming Monday) or hand in now before you leave

15 Medicines/Overseas Agreement Please complete the Residential Trip Medicine Form (one page per medication) for any medication your child will require during the time of this trip (this applies to both prescribed and over thecounter medicine) Any medication is to be handed in to Mrs Feetham on Monday 22 January, in original boxes and clearly labelled (please remember BA liquid allowance) We will only hold onto medication listed on the Residential Trip Medicine Form Students are NOT to carry any medication (except for inhalers or Epipens) Please complete the Overseas Medical and Behaviour Agreement and return to Mrs Feetham, by Monday 8 January 2018, (this coming Monday) or hand in now before you leave
