BAGGAGE Hand Luggage: Please be aware that Ryanair does not allow the 10kg luggage to be taken by free of charge, there is an additional charge for it, therefore make sure your child only carry a small bag/rucksack on board (40cm x 20cm x 25cm) Liquids in hand baggage are subject to the following governmentimposed restrictions: The liquid is in a container with a maximum volume of 100ml All liquid containers meeting the maximum volume of 100ml can be fitted comfortably into a transparent, plastic bag, measuring 20cmx20cm The plastic bag should be presented separately at security You will be required to dispose of liquids which do not meet the above requirements at the airport security station. Main Luggage: One piece of checked-in hold baggage to a maximum weight of 20 kg. A fee per kilo for excess weight is charged at the airport prior to departure.

They will be returned on the way home. *English currency for airport. Around 20 sterling should suffice to cover any food needs. This money will be your responsibility throughout the trip. *Spending Money This will need to be in POLISH ZLOTY. This should be placed in a sealed envelope clearly labelled with the pupil s name and amount of currency. This will be collected on the bus to be kept secure by members of staff. We feel that 50-60~ zl should be enough to cover any shopping and souvenir purchases that students may wish to make.

7 4. TIPS AND RULES FOR A RELAXING JOURNEY To keep travel time to a minimum we must keep to a tight schedule. Listen carefully to departure times. Be courteous to others. Keep noise to a minimum and remember you are representatives of Millthorpe School. We are on the coach for a few hours so please ensure you are respectful of your surroundings. Put all rubbish in the bags provided. You are welcome to take some food for the journey but remember since we are travelling by air, there are strict rules about what you can take on the aircraft, especially liquids. There will be shops in the airport to buy anything if necessary. Take sickness tablets before we leave and have plenty with you if required. The coach toilet will be for EMERGENCY use only, so ensure you go before you set off. Bring some entertainment it will help to pass the time. However please do not bring items of great value

ACCOMMODATION Limba Grand & Resort Kosne Hamry 15A Poronin, Poland Tel: Limba Grand & Resort is located in a quiet, picturesque area of Poronin, located about 20 min away from the Ski Resort -Kotelnica Bialczanska. As part of our full board accommodation package we will receive a continental breakfast buffet and a full evening meal. Water, juice and tea will be provided, but any other drinks will need to be bought by students. ROOMS You will be assigned to a room of 3, 4 or 5. You will choose your group during the outward journey. This will remain your room for the duration of the visit. Only essential changes will be made and these will be negotiated after the first night. BEHAVIOUR IN THE HOTEL Under no circumstances should you leave the hotel unless accompanied by or given express permission by a member of staff. If you are allowed to split into small groups for activities students must stay in groups of at least three at all times. Treat all staff and guests with respect and courtesy. Keep your room tidy out of consideration for others. Know where the fire escapes are. Boys must not, under any circumstances, enter girls rooms or vice versa All students should be in their own rooms and settled at their given time (i.e. talking should not be audible from other rooms). Be on time for all meals. Check in and out with a member of staff. During meal times students should remain in their seats throughout service. We expect that students will display good table manners; Students should not need to be asked to quieten down.

9 6. SKI LESSONS You must be prompt at all meeting times before, during and after ski lessons. Each pupil will be assigned to a group based upon ability and type of winter sport (skiing/snowboarding). There is no option to change sport during the trip. Under no circumstances should you leave your group to ski alone or with a friend. Skiing is extremely dangerous and your whereabouts on the slope must always be known. Each day you will receive 4 hours tuition. These are lessons like any other you must follow all instructions given by your tutor and try to improve your skiing. (If all you try to do is get down the slope as quickly as possible you will simply endanger yourself, other skiers and you will not improve. Any poor, silly, dangerous or uncooperative behaviour will be passed on to our group leader and will be taken very seriously. At the end of the lesson you must check in with a given member of staff, at a designated meeting point. During lunchtime you must stay with your ski group and instructor. You will be eating a lunch in local mountain restaurant. If you would like to, you will be given an opportunity to perhaps purchase additional food.

10 7. HOW TO COPE WITH DEMANDS OF SKIING Skiing is a physically demanding activity. Having good levels of fitness will certainly benefit any skier who is learning the sport but more importantly make the experience far more enjoyable. Skiing is not the kind of sport where you can just sit out and therefore students will be expected to take part. Students will certainly benefit from working on the following areas of their fitness. Cardio-vascular Fitness Running, cycling and swimming will improve this area of fitness. Any activity that is done over a long period of time at a medium intensity will improve cardio-vascular fitness. Muscular Strength and Muscular Endurance Leg strength and endurance can be improved through doing the, Ski Sit. (Sitting with your back against a wall, feet flat on the floor and legs bent at 90%). This is a perfect exercise for skiing. Additional exercises such as sit-ups will improve core stability. Flexibility Regular stretching will prevent injury and assist students in coping with some of the extreme movements required for skiing. Students can seek assistance from me if they require some help with developing their personal fitness levels. I will advertise some Ski trip training sessions after Christmas.

12 10. GENERAL INFORMATION Money: Loss of money on holiday is a potential nightmare. To reduce this risk each pupil will be assigned to a particular member of staff who will look after the money throughout the week. All monies will be kept secure within the hotel with times being set each evening for students to access their money. However money will only be accessible within the hotel and so students should ensure that they have enough for each day. Rules for a successful trip: Your good behaviour is paramount if this is to be a successful and enjoyable holiday for everyone. You will be representing your school and your country as well as the staff on the trip who will ultimately be held responsible for your behaviour. Certain rules must be followed with an element of trust being passed on to you by the staff. Breaking of this trust will be treated very seriously. The Staff: Miss A.
