20 Safety and Security EF s Peace of Mind Program What if something happens right before my tour or while we re on tour? Our top priority at all times is the safety and security of our travelers. Our extensive network of offices around the world means we re prepared to handle anything that might affect our tours, no matter how big or small. Please rest assured that we are able to make adjustments to your itinerary until the day you depart or even on-tour. In the past, EF has adjusted in this way: When volcanic ash grounded all European airline travel in 2010 EF extended itineraries for multiple days until flights resumed (including WH) EF has changed hotel locations and itineraries to avoid demonstrations in places like central Athens; even here in the U.S. EF has had to reorganize groups to avoid riots in Baltimore. One group in 2011 was scheduled to go to Egypt when Arab Spring demonstrations erupted. They canceled and scheduled a last minute trip to Japan. While at a layover in Detroit the Tsunami hit Japan. During the layover, they rescheduled AGAIN to France. EF set up all of the hotels, guides, meals, etc. They did everything.

21 Safety and Security 24-hour emergency service When your students are traveling, our emergency service team is available 24-hours a day, ready to answer your call should any situation arise. Travel policies EF s policies are in accordance with the recommendations of the U.S. Department of State, Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board. EF registers everyone on the trip with the United States State Department

26 Global Travel Protection EF Tours Insurance EF has emergency line to the insurer ALL cancellation fees if your child is unable to travel due to a medical or family emergency $50,000 of medical costs abroad, including transportation costs, such as an ambulance or a new flight home Your transportation, accommodation, and meals if there is an emergency and you need to go stay with your child Missed portions of the tour if your child must leave the tour early for a medical or family emergency Costs for hotels and meals if a flight is delayed or cancelled Can purchase up to the day before we leave

39 Q & A from the meeting 1. Should students pack first aid/prescription medication? Chaperones will have extra over the counter medicine and common items such as Band-Aids. Students are encouraged to bring pain medicine, anti-diarrhea medicine, prescription medication, etc. Prescription medication should be clearly labeled and packed in the carry-on bag. 2. Will students need adaptors? Yes, we encourage students to buy an adapter set commonly sold online or at Walmart, etc. Check your device to see if you need a convertor. 3. Will hotels have wifi? Probably. In the past our hotels have had wifi, but it is not always reliable. 4. Should we book optional excursions ahead of time? No. All optional excursions will be organized in Europe. Suggested planning is $50 per excursion, but prices will vary. There might be an opportunity for two or three excursions. 5. When should I get European money? There will be plenty of opportunities for students to get to an ATM in Europe. 6. What should students pack for shoes? Students should pack sneakers or other comfortable shoes as there will be plenty of walking. 7. Should students bring a back pack? Students should have a back pack or small bag that they can carry with them everywhere we go. Suggested back pack items: Book, medicine, light jacket, toilet paper, snacks, gum. 8. What is the time difference? All of the cities we will be visiting are 5 hours ahead of us. 9. Where will we be sitting on the plane? We have no control over assigned seats. However, in the past we have all sat in the same general area of the plane which has made switching seats very easy. Chaperones will help facilitate this process if necessary. 10. Will we be told what time to get up? Each evening we always update students on the next day s itinerary. Additionally, we always request wake-up calls at hotels. 11. How are students getting to and from Logan Airport? All students, on both busses, will leave together from the high school, to the airport on April 14. Students should bring their luggage to school. Students may store their luggage in the library, room 205 or room 305. Parents should pick up students at Logan Airport on April 24. Chaperones MUST meet with the adult who is taking the student home from the airport. 12. Are we excused from school? Thursday, April 14 is a regular school day, but students will be dismissed early. Friday April 15 is an excused absence from school. All students are expected to be in school Monday April 25.
