1 The Highcrest Academy Geography Field Trip to Naples, 8-11 October 2018 There are 13 girls and 14 boys. Eleven Yr 8 students, nine Yr 9 students and four Yr 10 students. The three members of staff are: G Weldon, I Newton and one other tbc.

2 Expectations. All students need to: 1. Listen to and follow instructions at all times. 2. Move around in groups of no fewer than three. 3. Behave in a common sense way and not expose themselves to risk. 4. Be polite and interested and represent themselves and the school in a positive way. 5. Remain in their own rooms after lights out. Remember, this is a busy hotel and we will not be the only guests. 6. Speak to a member of staff immediately if they have any concerns. Also, I have attached a copy of the phone chain in case of an emergency. Please check your details are correct and let us know if any alterations need to be made. 3 What you need to bring. Average daytime temperature is 22 C Average night temperature is 12 C 39% chance of precipitation (low). Kit List: Essential medicines/inhalers/epipen/travel sickness pills. Sensible clothing for four days including a jacket for the evening and wet weather. Suitable footwear for walking (trainers are fine.) Sun cream/sun hat. A day rucksack and water bottle. Pencil case. Night clothes and toiletries. Jewellery, mobile phones, ipods, MP3 players and other equipment is brought at your own risk. If they are lost or stolen there may be no opportunity to report it to the police. Be warned that this could affect insurance. The Highcrest Academy can take no responsibility for the loss or damage of such items. Suitable entertainment for the long journey. Remember, all liquids must be packed into the suitcase and are not allowed to be brought through as hand luggage.

4 Monday 8 October :00 Students arrive at The Highcrest Academy. 02:30 Departure for Gatwick Airport. The coach company is Angel Executive Travel. 04:00 Arrival at Gatwick and check in. 20Kg allowance for luggage. 04:15 Check-in at the BA desks. 6 16:30 - Looking at the uses fertile volcanic soil has. Lemons, olives and mozzarella demonstration. This includes free samples and then lunch.

There are three different types of plug in the hotel, so a universal adapter would be needed. Here is a picture. They can be bought for 3.49 on Amazon.

8 Tuesday 9 October :30 - Boat to the Island of Capri 13:00 - Shopping in Sorrento 15:00 - Bowling in Sorrento 17:00 - Ice cream making visit

9 Wednesday 10 October :00 Breakfast at hotel. 09:30 Meet coach and depart for Pompeii. 10:30 Arrive at Pompeii and explore the city. Pompeii, Via Villa dei Misteri, Pompeii (NA) 12:30 Lunch at Pompeii. There is a McDonalds and various other food outlets just outside the city. Students need to pay for their lunch which should cost about 8 Euros.

10 13:30 Departure for Vesuvius 14:15 Arrive at the car park and begin ascent on foot. This is about 700m in total and is not particularly strenuous. It should take about 25 minutes to reach the summit. To get the most of this opportunity, I have prepared various exercises to complete whilst at the crater.

11 16:30 Set off back to Sorrento 17:30 Pizza making and an evening meal at a local hotel. This is about a 20 minute walk from the hotel and students will have the opportunity to buy souvenirs in Sorrento on the way back. 19:30 Set off to hotel

12 Thursday 11 October :00 Breakfast at hotel. 10:00 Departure for Solfatara and Baia. Solfatara is a shallow active crater with live geysers and sulphur fields. Currently this is closed but should be open again by the time we visit. 11:30 Lunch at Solfatara. 12:30 Pozzuoli amphitheatre.

14 17:00 Departure for Airport. 17:50 Check in at the BA desks at Naples Airport. 19:50 Depart Naples for Gatwick airport on Flight no: BA :40 Arrive at Gatwick Airport. Coach arrives back at Highcrest at approximately 23:30.
