Have you ever needed information about obscure happenings in southwest Louisiana, but you had no idea of where to look? Have you ever wanted to visit a lodge pow-wow with that guy you met at NOAC, but you can t seem to remember the name of his lodge? Well then, Allthingsoa.com is just what the doctor ordered. Created in 2004 by Jonathan Nation, All Things OA strives to keep Arrowmen updated about the OA and Scouting at all levels through its many forums and blogs. To help inform others of the happenings within the Order, Jonathan relies upon fellow Arrowmen to write posts on the website. So the next time you are scrambling to find an obscure NOAC tidbit or (Continues on Page 3) Fall Fellowship was a huge success. We had an attendance of 220. The weekend start off with some needed training in the areas of chapter management, events management and ceremonies. Then we moved on to our Vigil callout. Joe Atchley, Derek Betty, Austin Hanchey, Daniel McClarney and Ian Weir were our youth honorees; Buster Barry, Wanda Duckworth, Dennis House, Steve Murphy and Ross White were the adults honored. The flyboys, the Army Air Corps, came marching home with a victory in our World War II themed competition. I came marching home with a new haircut. A new corps of Lodge officers were elected including: Jeff Finley as Chief; Danny Waltman, Corey Guisinger and Ryan Davidson as vice-chiefs, Ian Weir as secretary and as treasurer. I want to thank my staff and especially my key staff and advisers without whom this would have been just another Fall Fellowship 2005 Youth Vigil Recipients

2 Page 2 Ittawamba Lodge Report One hundred forty-seven brothers enjoyed a wonderful fallish-day at Camp Mack Morris on Saturday, September 17. This was a good solid turnout, here is how it compares to previous years: Importantly, we had 38 newly inducted brothers attend their first Fall Fellowship (that is 10 more than last year!). In the morning, memorabilia was on display while other brothers were rifle and shotgun shooting, archery shooting, and learning to do Native American Crafts. A Pow-Wow was held in the late morning/afternoon thanks to Darlene Mott and Fitts Lipe. After a good meal, the Business meeting started with the first thing up, lodge elections. The first election was for Lodge Chief. Jeremy Fair was elected our Lodge Chief for The next race had Preston Field elected Lodge 1 st Vice-Chief. Subsequent elections were T.J. Price as 2 nd Vice Chief, yours truly as Secretary, and Matt Luttman as Treasurer. The LLDC theme this year is going to be a "Military Service" theme so wear your military and or camo stuff and plan on a good day of fun and learning on December 10th. 3 Page 3 Philmont Trail Crew Watching the sun rise upon the mountain horizon of Mount Baldy is a memorable experience one will remember for the rest of their life. The Order of the Arrow wants to provide you with the chance to experience that moment and to explore the backcountry of the Philmont Scout Ranch where Arrowmen from across the country gather each summer to take part in fellowship, fun and service. All Arrowmen who arrive are separated into crews led by OA Trail Crew Foremen who have been trained in various conservation techniques used to assist in solidifying in the pristine wilderness that is Philmont. During the first week, participants will labor with the other participants to provide service to the Ranch by engaging in trail building and by helping to rebuild some of the area destroyed in past wildfires. After this week, crews design their very own trek that is unique to those involved in the Trail Crew experience. As a participant, what you say is what you do. Some choose to climb to the heights on Mount Baldy, others choose to enjoy the sights from Mount Phillips and still others choose to explore historic Philmont with its caves, mines and villas. Maybe what you are looking for is the final descent from the Tooth of Time upon base camp. Whatever your fancy, Philmont has what you are looking for but only through the Order of the Arrow will you be given the opportunity to utilize the synergy of brotherhood that will take you Philmont s ultimate depths. 4 Page 4 Adviser s Minute Council of Chief s Recap Midst the holiday season, we give thanks as a nation, as communities and as families for our many blessings; but we also recognize there are many who are not so blessed. During the holiday season, many organizations provide service to their communities to help those in need by providing food baskets to shut-ins, food kitchens for the hungry, clothing drives for the needy and many other forms of charity. All of these efforts are noteworthy for the assistance provided to those in need and the sense of community derived from providing service. Order of the Arrow lodges contribute to this service, most notably through One Day of Service, but also from other community service activities that are now required to qualify as a Quality Lodge. My sincere hope is for you and your Chapter and Lodge to be generous in your service to your fellow Scouts, your community, and your country in the coming year. At the Council of Chiefs, I mentioned there is a great need for service to the Scouts of Pine Burr Area Council, which is headquartered in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Their camp, Camp Tiak, was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Thousands of trees were downed by the hurricane and buildings were damaged. A summer camp experience for the Scouts of Pine Burr Council depends on the restoration of the camp. The efforts of the National Capital Area Council and OA Section SR-1 have contributed to the rebuilding the camp, but much more needs to be done. Your Lodge can contribute to this effort to rebuild Camp Tiak. Chicksa Lodge and Ittawamba Lodge are making plans. Consider this opportunity as a once in a lifetime chance to give service to Scouting that will make a real difference in the Scouting experience of the many boys affected by Hurricane Katrina. 5 Page 5 NOAC 2006 The 2006 National Order of the Arrow Conference is just around the corner, and now is the time for Arrowmen and lodges to start preparing for the biggest Order of the Arrow event in the country! Lodge advisers will be receiving contingent registration materials coming in early November to help them prepare and sign up for NOAC. At the same time, a brand new NOAC website will come online with details on the conference, advertising materials, as well as a registration portal for lodges and staff.
