2 Lodge Chief s Report Fellow Arrowmen, Spring is officially here and with the arrival of spring we are nearing our first Lodge service and fellowship weekend of the year. We had a long winter this year and I am looking forward to the warmer weather and the spring rain. The rain will help wash out the signs of winter and welcome in summer. I am looking forward to the summer camping season and getting back outdoors. The most important event coming up is Spring Fellowship. Our Centennial Spring Fellowship will be held April 24, 2015 April 26, Our first Centennial Fellowship will be hosted at Ingawanis Adventure Base. This year s Spring Fellowship is going to be different than any other Spring Fellowship he have had in the past. At our Fellowship this year we have 2 larger service projects planned along with the many other service projects. This means that we will need youth arrowmen but more importantly the adult arrowmen. Our first big service project at Spring Fellowship will be building a gaga ball pit. We will also be building a human foosball court to go along with the gaga ball pit. The two new games will be completed and ready for use after lunch and ready for our 2015 summer camps. In order to complete these two service projects we will need help from the adult arrowmen in the lodge. We will also be cleaning cabins moving picnic tables, and helping to get camp ready for the summer camping season. Along with service projects we will have a large variety of games and activities in the afternoon! The human foosball court and the gaga ball pit will be completed before lunch and ready for use! We will also be offering a Brotherhood workshop starting at 1 PM on Saturday. If you have been an Ordeal member for 10 months and would like to seal your membership in the OA, consider completing your Brotherhood workshop. Our activities committee has been working hard on planning a fun filled weekend! A full schedule of events and a list of service projects can be found on our website:. I am looking forward to our weekend of service, fun, and fellowship. 3 OA High Adventure Imagine waking up to the sunrise over the Tooth of Time, the cool crisp air hugs your breath as you gaze out at 100 different colors painted across the sky, you look down at the valley below and all you see are clouds. Now imagine paddling crystal clear lakes along the Canadian border route like the fur traders and Ojibwe have done for hundreds of years. You re sitting around a campfire made with flint and steel watching the orange glow on the faces of friends. Picture that you were living on a 40 foot sailboat for a week, fishing and snorkeling all day in the Florida Keys and sleeping out on the deck at night. Or maybe you just want to feel the rush of wind on your face as you jump off of a platform high up in the trees and descend thousands of feet through the canopy on a zip line at the Summit. OA Trail Crew at Philmont is a 2 week program where Arrowmen can go to Philmont Scout Ranch for only $250! OA Wilderness Voyage and OA Canadian Odyssey at Northern Tier in Minnesota/Ontario are two week programs where Arrowmen aged can paddle around the Boundary Waters and Quetico parks. OA Ocean Adventure is a 10 day adventure for Arrowmen between the ages of at the Florida Sea Base where Arrowmen do some Cheerful Service and then sail in style.l OA Summit Experience is an 8 day adventure for Arrowmen aged at the Summit Bechtel Scout Reservation in West Virginia. Four days for Service and four days of fun! OA High Adventure is a great opportunity for Arrowmen to make new friends, overcome new challenges, take time in personal reflection, and experience the incredible sights and sounds of nature all at an unbeatable price that is only available to Arrowmen. So if you are planning on sitting around the house all summer of if you ve earned every merit badge available at summer camp then consider doing something extraordinary this summer!
